Hello Tom, First, buy the version 8 registration key and enter it for your version 7 registration. Version 8 keys are backwards-compatible for version 7 as well. Make sure that The Bat! 7 displays your version 8 key, it should tell in the about box that the registration key is valid until version 8.9. Then, download and install the version 8 .MSI file. Don't uninstall anything. Version 8 will update all the program files and will keep using your data files. If you like to pin The Bat! to the Windows Taskbar, the icon will no longer be valid. To make it survive installations of the new versions, do the following, once. Hello Tbudl, Since version 3.95 you are able to specify second parameter of the cookie macro to specify the Charset of the file, e.g. %COOKIE(C:\a\max.txt,Windows-1251) this means that the file C:\a\max.txt contains characters in Windows-1251 encoding. Alternatively, %COOKIE macro supports Unicode files.
