Messages disappearing from inbox of one account??

2002-05-22 Thread Terry Barnes

Hi all,

I have about 17 accounts defined - all work just fine with the
exception of one. My wife's account keeps dropping messages from
somewhere in early April 2002 to the present. Has done this three
times now. This morning this happened again. She opened The Bat, went
to her inbox and received message the that message base needed to be
repaired - clicked yes to repair now - and suddenly she has no
messages since April 4, 2002. I would guess approximately 120 messages
just vanished. Backup and restore of The Bat just doesn't seem to work
with her mailboxes. Have tested with other accounts and it works fine
with them. But restore of a perfectly successful backup to her mailbox
just does not work. This is the third time all recent messages have
vanished. Any ideas?

Browse deleted messages also shows nothing in this time frame. Deleted
index and reopen messages in the Inbox - still nothing appears.

Thanks,
Terry Barnes

Re[2]: Eudora Conversion Revisited

2002-04-09 Thread Terry Barnes

Just experimenting with Eudora mailbox conversion. I could not get the
wizard to work either, but I did have some success using Tools |
Import Messages | From Unix Mailboxes. Then navigate to the actual
Eudora mail directory and select the actual mailbox. It will import
the messages, though not all come across perfectly, most do. This
method places the messages in whatever folder is highlighted when you
start.

Depending on your needs - maybe this will fit the bill.

Menu Navigator and WinXp

2002-04-09 Thread Terry Barnes

On a dual-boot PC running WinXP and WinME. When in WinXP i can't seem
to find a way to invoke the menu navigator in v1.60c. It is on the
title bar under WinME, but not present under WinXP.

Not really sure why I want it, but somewhat disturbing that it is not
present for unknown reason. Is there a different method to invoke the
menu navigator under WinXP?

Thanks

I had this happen to me in IE as well. SOmeone had a suggestion that
was very easy and worked for me. In IE, Tools | Internet Options
|Programs - change the default mail reader to something besides The
Bat!. Close the reopen IE. Go back to the same place and change the
default mail client back to The Bat!. Close IE then reopen IE. Now try
and hopefully will be fixed.

Re[2]: Mailto url goes nuts in IE

2002-03-31 Thread Terry Barnes

Hi Dierk,

DH Can you please incorporate such a link in a message? Make it the
DH shortest possible that shows that behaviour.

DH Yes, I'm onto something, but will test before publish.

Any mailto link in IE seems to exhibit this behavior, but only on one
of my PCs which is running XP Pro. The WinXP machine is a server to
the other machines. Sometimes when this happens, I get a error message
staing that the default mail client is not installed properly. IE's
Tools|Internet Options|Programs shows The Bat! being registered as
the email client.

I am guessing that this probably has something to do with either WinXP
or something not right in the registry.

Thanks,
Terry Barnes

Re[2]: Mailto url goes nuts in IE

Hi Dierk,

Please see below. Thanks - this is resolved - at least for me

DH First thing: Go to this setting, change it from TB! to another client.
DH OK it. Again go there and change it back to TB!. now press OK and
DH leave the settings. For good measure close IE. Now open IE and try a
DH mailto link.

DH This procedure can remedy problems between IE and non-MS mail clients.

The above procedure resolved my problem. Thanks!!!

DH If not, the problem lies in the parsing of IE (with one of the Opera
DH betas there was a similar problem; and sometimes URLs clicked in TB!
DH were parsed into many different URLs opened in separate windows with
DH Opera).

I am guessing that this probably has something to do with either WinXP
or something not right in the registry.

DH If you use XP, your IE is 6.x, isn't it? Are you computer versed
DH enough to go through your registry? Either with a suitable tool or by
DH hand?

Yes - Have been programming for 24 years :)
I will compare what is now in registry with what was there before. If
I find any thing of interest - I will post here for anyone who cares.

Thanks again!!!
