Most likely that is because nobody has definite answers to your
questions. But since you're desperate for answers, here are two
guesses:

Z 1. TheBat.exe - No disk -- There is no disk in the drive. Please insert
Z a disk into drive A: [This message seems to happen at Account .]

Check all account properties for that account whether there's nothing
that's referencing to something on drive A: It might be that TB
doesn't want to write to A: but in stead wants to read something.

Z 2. An error occured while storing data of the folder X. It is
Z possible that the message index is damaged - try to delete the index
Z file and re-read the folder, then try to backup again.

Create a new folder,
make TB move all messages from your problem folder to this new folder,
close TB
delete the messages.tbb and .tbi files for your problem folder
start TB
move all messages back

Follow the same procedure for the folder before and the folder
immediately after the problem folder. (Just to make sure that you've
pinpointed the right folder as causing problems.)

When this procedure causes problems it might be that you've got a
virus infected message in your folder, in that case disable your virus
scanner, find the infected message, delete it, compress the folder,
enable your virus scanner and try it again.

I can't guarantee that this solves your problems, but it might help.

I did a backup; and I got 2 messages:

a disk into drive A: [This message seems to happen at Account .]

2. An error occured while storing data of the folder X. It is
possible that the message index is damaged - try to delete the index

Re: message #1. in the first backup, I click Cancel and it continues.
I did a backup again. This time, I put in a diskette and click Try
again; and it continued. But when I look at that diskette after the
backup, it has no contents. What is that message?

Re: message #2. After the first backup, I deleted the tbi file for
that folder. Re-click on that folder and it rebuilds the tbi. Then I
ran the backup again. The same message pops up again. There is no
apparent problem with that folder. What could be causing this error
message?

Thanks in advance

Backup problems mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I decided to reinstall my computer... Therefore I want to make a
backup. That should be an easy task if only TB would do it. Everytime
I try it I get an error message that something is not ok.
What is the error? Or did it actually say Something is not OK...?

(Maybe my mail database is too large. Right now it has 670 MB on
 HD.)
You will need at least that much free space on the drive on which you
are storing your backup. You also need some more free space for
temporary files during the process. There are two bars that monitor
free space during the backup process. Watch those.

There is indeed another trick. I export the registry key (HKCU /
Software / RIT) and then zip the whole TB directory. It hasn't failed
me, but it requires to restore into the same directory, using the same
Windows version.

Hi Chris!

Yes. More or less, it points me to delete the index file of one folder.

That is not the problem 40 GB free on the hard drive.

Interesting fact: I tried to backup again and left out the IMAP account.
Worked. I tried to backup the IMAP account. Worked, too.

I will try again to backup all :-)

The index files (at least in version 1.63) are the files that end in
.tbi. Close down TB!, locate the .tbi file(s) in question and delete
them. TB! will re-create them when you fire up the program again.
Each folder (inbox, sent etc.) of each account contains a .tbi file.

Important note: Do not delete the .tbb files! This are the files
that actually contain all your emails.

I could be wrong here, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the
problem was with Sent and Trash. Both of those folders have special
options to sync with the server (along with Outbox).

Were either of those folders checked in Account Properties - Mail
Management? Were the local names different from the server names?

Hello Bat Persons,

Back in TheBat again after a few problems ('error reading database'
and 'runtime error' messages)...and decided to back up
all...(address book, settings and folders etc with messages for two
POP accounts and one IMAP account). Synchronised the IMAP
account/folders, then went off-line Then ran Backup...
Got a message to say there were problems backing up two of the folders
(Sent and Trash) in the IMAP account...and suggested I delete the
index files and start again
Decided not to bother... I think I will just exclude IMAP message
folder from backup...or maybe copy messages to a local folder and
