Copying from POP to IMAP
Hi all, I know this has been covered before, but I've just spent the last 20 mins searching 16,000 messages trying to find the answer, but failing miserably :-( Basically, I would like to copy over 10,000 messages from a POP account to one of my IMAP accounts, but can't find a good way of doing such a thing. On selecting the messages and right clicking to copy the messages, it seems to go extremely slow duplicating them onto IMAP! I tried exporting, but the import option is greyed out when in the IMAP account. Does anyone know a quick and easy way to do this? -- Regards, Chris Created using The Bat! v3.0.0.16 IMAP OS of Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Cleaning up SPAM with Bayes Filter Plugin v1.5.4 Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Does anyone know a quick and easy way to do this? Ooops. You seem stuck there. There's no easy way. I had a look at ThunderBird and it will not import just mailbases. I tried exporting to .msg, .eml and eudora formats with no success at importing with ThunderBird. Have you tried moving the message across in smaller amounts? It will not be easy but it can be done. -- -= Allie =- . I don't know of a good way to do this. I recently moved all my mail from POP to IMAP, but I didn't have 1 messages -- only about 2000, in 18 folders over 8 accounts. After trying with The Bat! to simply move the messages from a folder in the POP account to a corresponding folder in the IMAP account, and not having any success (it would appear to be copying for about 5 mins then beep with Server closed connection), I eventually used Thunderbird. What I did: 1. Select all the messages in a folder and export as unix mailbox (which I named temp) in the Thunderbird Local Folders directory. 2. In Thunderbird, open the temp folder, select all the messages, and drag and drop to the appropriate folder in the IMAP account. 3. Repeat for each folder, choosing to overwrite the temp file, not append. In principle this is not different to what I initially tried in TB! -- just drag and drop from local to IMAP folder, and wait for the messages to upload. In practice, TB! couldn't do it, Thunderbird could. -- Tim [EMAIL PROTECTED] Current version is 3.00.00 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
