 On this count I disagree.
To each, his or her own.
 How does that clutter?
That there are four Insert/Remove buttons is cluttered. However, if
they were list buttons, it would not be as cluttered. When I say
list button, I mean a button that when the vast majority of it is
clicked, it preform the simple operation. However, when the far right
is clicked (often indicated by ), a menu pops up with more
advanced options.

Folders and rearranging

2003-12-12 Thread Adam

Have you ever noticed that if you try to add a new folder to an
account, the new folder is always added at the very bottom of the
account tree? So, let's say you are trying to add some categories in
which to stick the boxes. And you have maybe a hundred folders or
more. So you are there hanging around at the top of the tree, so you'd
like to place things in some better order. Or maybe later archiving,
or whatever. So I should take this bunch of folders, and package them up
in some new folder, shall we say, boxed tight. So that random parts
don't just hang around aimlessly.

Since you started at the top of the tree, now you need to get the
parts at the top, and move everything half a dozen screens to the very
bottom. I can say that I scratch my head at this point, see? Are
there other options, or anything I have missed?

This could really take a while, as is.

Another thing is, say on the other hand you take a fresh new Account.
It has automatically like 5 folders or something to start off with.
Try create a new folder. Now, if you try to move the original bunch,
Inbox, and so on, it seems to fail. When you drag one to the new
folder, the pointer does not change form as you would expect.

I agree that having the option 'Insert new folder here' would help, I
sometimes create a subfolder using one the folders I wish the new
folder to be next to (select the folder and hit Ins). After creating
the folder, I just move it to where I want to using
Shift-CTRL-Left Arrow

The same problem exists with filters. If you have a long list of
filters and you wish to create a new one that goes at the top of the
list, you have to drag the new filter rule all the way to the top of
the list since a new filter is always created at the bottom of the
list.

Try the Shift-CTRL- up/down arrow keys and see how those work.

I would help if the Sorting Office was resizable too.
