Stuart, This is consistent for all F4 replies for both my account (primary) and that of my wife. It just started over this past weekend. I tried reinstalling 4.0.18 with no improvement. I tend not to use Beta versions so I did not download a new installation from the web site. I have not paid attention to the writer's e-mail client, but I will start to do so now. Thanks. I don't know why, but on the XP box the F4 does a reply with an empty reply message, which is same thing you describe. Like your situation, I have no idea of the reason for difference. To check what shortcut is set for Reply Quoting Selected Text select View/Toolbars/Customize and select the Shortcuts Tab. Then select Main Form/Main Menu/Specials and look for Reply Quoting Selected Text.
