are they influenced by the account settings? If not, where do I set
things so that the Local tree is affected?

If you mean the common folders (that don't belong to an account), they
have account settings too, just click on any of them and open the account
properties (shift + ctrl + p) to modify the settings for the common
folders.

No. There's a tree of folders with Local at the top. It's not IMAP.

Yes, I suppose that's what they are called.

That did the trick--thanks. Is there any way to get to this dialog box
other than shift+ctrl+p (is there a way to get to it from the context
menu)?

You can get to it only the same ways that you'd get to any account's
properties, i.e., via the shortcut or with the common folder/account in
focus, go to the Account menu and select 'Properties'.

I don't know - here, there is no top folder. My common folders are on the

AGA Well, what is the top folder called in the common folder tree?

Here is the way my folder looks, reading vertically, top down:

The account name, m.bull. Moving right, Inbox, with numerous
subfolders. Below it, Outbox, Sent Mail, and Trash. Below that the
names of my only two Common folders, TBUDL Archive and TBBETA Archive.

I don't have a folder set up with Common folders as subfolders to it.

And there's no default that would have set it up that way. The Bat! is
very complex--I don't know how you got a separate common folder tree.

Perhaps someone else can speak further to this question. Wish I could
be more help.

From the top down, I have a very complex tree with a top folder named
Local that apparently contains all the common folders (of which I have
a hundred or so, nested to several levels). Below that are the
individual accounts, but I don't create any folders under those; I route
everything to common folders via filtering rules.

I've had TB for a while and I don't know how I arrived at this
arrangement, but it works for me.

Try blank, as this seems to mark as read immediately.
