Hello Michael, On Mon, 13 May 2002 10:10:30 -0400GMT (13-5-02, 16:10 +0200GMT, where I live), you wrote: MD All my email in my inbox has disappeared. The messages.tbb (about 1 MD GB), and messages.tbi (about 40MB) are still in the default Move the messages.tbi to a temporary folder. MD Thanks - That did it! When you'll enter the inbox, TB will notice the missing .tbi and will recreate it. That would mean that all your deleted messages will return, since the info of them being deleted is gone, but the non-deleted should be accessible too. Since all of your messages that were deleted (or filtered to other folders) should have become visible too, you should delete them again and select from the menu: Folder - Compress all folders. That diminishes the size of your inbox and prevent the problem from occurring again. Might your inbox still be excessively big, I'd suggest that you start archiving the messages into different folders and afterwards compress your inbox again. I don't know what's the actual limit for the folder contents in TB, but I have found for myself that large folders take lot more time to be opened than smaller ones. I use 5000 msg's (or 20 MB, whatever comes first) as a useful limit. -- Groetjes, Roelof Current Ver: 1.60i FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com
Re: All the meail in my inbox has disappeared!
I can say I just had this happen to me. I did not delete, however I was in the process of saving attachments, posts, to my cd. I was also going to copy the entire bat program and had therefore just copied/exported the Rit entries from the registry. I rebooted after I was all done and wanted to get my regular programs established in a clean start. I started up the bat and whoosh gone was the TBI of the Inbox. The TBB was there with 27 mgs but the TBI showed only 2 megs. I did what was mentioned by Roelof and had to reboot again. I still didn't have anything showing up in the inbox - Until I started looking through all of the other folders, which seemed to load very slowly. I then went back to the main inbox and after a slow start everything re-appeared. The only thing I can think of that could have caused a problem was; I went looking at other mail as the message center was downloading. For some reason I run into The program freezing and now this empty Inbox occurrence. Do want to thank Roelof for the suggestion, was perfect timing for this to come up;) -- Cheers, Dean The Bat1.60i Current Ver: 1.60i FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

Other possibility, but hardly, is that trash folder is emptied in some automatic, or some other not noticed, way. MD So, are you saying I should move the messages .tbb and messages.tbi MD files to a new TB folder, and then compress the new folder? No, copy them in a temporary folder somewhere *at HD*, not in TB, then compress your Inbox folder *in Bat*. Then close TB, then copy tbb and tbi files back in *Inbox folder, at HD*, then start TB. If this is what I mean, then you should see messages from your Inbox folder, in TB, again. ***I recalled another reason why you cannot see your messages, and it can be pretty mussy: if folder structures in TB are not corresponding with folder structures at your HD. It will happen if you changed location of messages.* files at your HD. But, that what is very important is a fact that you still have messages.* files from this Inbox folder at your HD. As long as you have them, and as long as you have them copied in some safe place, would be possible to find a solution. This is most important.
