No, What I mean is a program which can manage/extract attachment
 files from received mails.

Does this help you:

Account / Properties / Files Directories / Attachments / Keep
attachments in ... ?

It will extract attachmentsl, but not manage them. I use Total Commander
for that.

I have never tried the Keep attachments option to save in a directory.
Does it automatically extract existing attachments or it will just be
functional for new messages with attachments?

Also, what happens if different attachments have the same file name?

TIA.

Only for new messages.

Also, what happens if different attachments have the same file name?

A counter will be added: myword.doc, mywork1.doc, mywork2.doc...
making it difficult to see from the attachments directory which file
belongs to which message. One of the reasons why I store attachments
in the message body and save them manually if necessary. I can change
the name as well as the directory that way.

Hello Thomas,

 Only for new messages.

That's what I feared. Darn! Maybe if I export and the import Naah,
that would change the received data and time.

Same here.

When I switched over to saving attachments to directories I wrote a filter
that would save the old existing attachments out for me. I don't remember
all the specifics but I think I was able to get my old mail moved over.

It was a bit annoying though, and on many occasions I wish we had more
access to the format TB uses for data files. Indeed, one 3rd party
developer has been able to reverse engineer this stuff in a commercial
application, but he has decided his knowledge should not be public.

Yes, I will have to think about something like that if I do decide to
save attachments to directories.

What do you mean? You can attach file by using the attach icon.

 Or 3rd-party program?

Well, I attach files by draggingdropping them from Total Commander,
if that is what you mean. I hear it also works with Windows Explorer.
