BM So, does anybody on this list have a pointer to any documention about the BM Image Download Manager? There is no documentation. This is how the Download Manager (the globe with the question mark) works: Whenever a message (I believe this only applies to HTML messages) adds a picture by URL only, the Download Manager shows up automatically. This is your case #3. If the images are sent with the messages, the pictures are shown by default, but if they are not, there is a security issue. How to make the pictures show: Click on the globe with the questin mark. You will get a context menu with the option to show download manager Choose that option, and a window pops up. In this window (the Download Manager) you can block or allow URLs. I have allowed all the pictures for my newsletters, and blocked all that contain constandcontact or icontact or adclient etc in the URL. Also, URLs with weird long alphanumerical names won't get allowed, as these are likely trackers. That's it. I think it's not very difficult to grasp, play with it and you'll see. -- Cheers, Thomas. http://thomas.fernandez.hat-gar-keine-homepage.de/ Message reply created with The Bat! 4.2.44 under Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 3 Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Susanne, Monday, June 13, 2011, 12:13:50 PM, you wrote: S is there a way to make them visible in TB? I'm assuming you mean pictures embedded within your message... FWIW, I've found that embedding images in email is rather inconsistent, especially between Thunderbird and TheBat! (my two main email clients.) Those two often refuse to correctly display messages sent by the other one, though both programs can send the same messages to a GMail user who can see them both fine using Google's web mail interface. Basically, until there's a standard for how to handle HTML mail, especially with embedded images, we users will just be forced to suffer differing interpretations of the RFCs that cover those things. After all, RFC /does/ stand for (R)equest (F)or (C)omments. If there is an actual STD document for this, then it must allow too much interpretation and have too many optional things to enforce interoperability. Sorry for the rant, I've been complaining about this issue to RIT Labs for a couple years and have always been told that TB is right and the others are wrong. Not in so many words, but that's the essence of all the replies I've ever received on the subject. -- Steven Vallière | tb 4.2.44.2 | mailto:the...@e-visions.com -- If you didn't write it down, then it didn't happen. -Larry Zana Current version is 4.2.42 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

All I get are placeholders, and embedded pictures are *never* visible in TB for me. Was hoping I was just missing a setting somewhere. Images can be associated with a message in several ways: 1 - A message may have attachments of images or other documents, 2 - An HTML message can have place holders that refer to images that are included with the message, 3 - An HTML message may have place holders that refer to images at some External Web site.
