AE It seems that since moving to the 2.11.x versions, my installation of
AE TheBat! has become very slow on POP retrieval.

I cannot confirm it, niether under Win98 nor XP Pro. However, TB is
known to slow down under these conditions:

1.) The folders haven't been purged compressed for a while.
2.) There are many bat*.tmp files in the %TEMP% folder.
3.) The disk hasn't been defragged for a while.

You have ruled out plugins already.

OK, I narrowed it down to the Kaspersky Anti-Virus. It's not a plugin,
but apparently the newer version of KAV must proxy the POP connection
and scan mail as it moves through that connection.

So, now my search is on for a Bat-compatible anti-virus. KAV used to
work so well with it.

FYI, I am using KAV Personal 5.0.124.

Thanks for the help!

I always vote for NOD32 from www.eset.com. It is external, hyper-fast
and small in memory use. It also costs, but worth every penny.

Based on your email, I asked around the office and it seems a former
employee purchased a NOD32 license for his PC, but he's no longer
here. So, I uninstall it, call NOD32 and with some faxes and emails, I
get the license transferred and now TB is working like a charm.

Thanks!

Maybe TB should stop supporting KAV so closely since the feeling
doesn't seem to be mutual.
