The file manager *is* a DOS box; that saved me some trouble in the past since I could delete files with it that could not be deleted under Win95 itself. Therefore the read only bit get set. the best way (if you remember) to fix it after you have copied the files is to go into DOS, change directory to the top level for The Bat! and use the command [arrtib -r *.* /s] this will sort it out for all your files. That's not to say there's no other reason, just that I don't MDP know of one. Well, I don't know what caused it in my case, but it wasn't restoring from a CD because I've never done that. The only clue I have is that, looking at the logs, it appears I received a new version announcement on October 24, 2000. It's therefore quite likely that I installed a new version that day.
