Hello Pat, Tuesday, November 16, 2004, 4:28:14 AM, you wrote: If you (or anyone) can help I would sure appreciate it. So I'm no expert, but my fist test is always to use telnet to see what's going on - 'cos that's how I used to do it years ago :-) Have a Google for telnet pop for all the gory details, but you should be able to knock out a quick session like this: telnet pop IP address 110 user your POP login pass your POP password LIST - list you message headers RETR # - to view a message number # DELE # - to delete message QUIT - to exit Perhaps you'll get a message that you can post back here and someone clever can come up with a fix? Hello Pat, A reminder of what [EMAIL PROTECTED] typed on: Monday, November 15, 2004 at 22:28:14 GMT -0600 phrc I can't access the Message Dispatcher with that account. Just get a blank CC. Is it always like this? Can you try sending a message to this account and turn off automatic checking. Then check with Message dispatcher as there should now be a message there. If it is still not working it may be part of the problem. Is it a special kind of account? Who is the ISP? Is it an IMAP account? -- Best regards, Stuartmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.0.1.33 On Windows 98 4.10 Build # Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Serious mail download problem
Hello, I am having a real problem now with collecting mail; not sure whether it is a Connection Centre issue or not. The Connection Centre continues to hang ... it will stay open and unresponsive until I close TB! using the Task Manager. Other times it appears to have finished downloading, but does not close then either. Bottom line is that I am not receiving all incoming mail. For what it's worth, I uploaded a screenshot. http://www.tangleworld.com/screenshot.jpg Not sure how this will be helpful. It looks like the CC is in progress, but nothing is happening (honest). I've sent myself test messages (not received) and am aware of other messages not coming through. It seems to happen with the one account; I have double checked settings. And I have turned off my virus protection (NAV, which came with the system) with no change. Please tell me how I can resolve this. I hate to have to start up another email client. Here's hoping I receive the reply to this one (what is the name of the online list service?) Thank you. -- Best wishes, Pat A Canadian in Houston Using The Bat! v3.0.1.33 on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 2 Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Well I don't think I can tell you how to resolve it, but Can you pinpoint it to one account? If you can, have you tried to use the Message Dispatcher to see if there are messages still left behind after downloading. It may be a corrupt message on the server causing the hang. I also have the occasional hang, but it is not very common. From your message it sounds like it must be happening on every download. Since it seems to be an isolated problem, it may require a reinstall. -- Stuartmailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v3.0.2.5 on Windows 98 4.10 Build A Current version is 3.0.1.33 | 'Using TBUDL' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hello Stuart, Stuart wrote, regarding my Conncection Centre hang and not being able to download from one account: PJ Please tell me how I can resolve this. I hate to have to start up PJ another email client. Well I don't think I can tell you how to resolve it, but Can you pinpoint it to one account? Yes, it is the one account. I went so far this afternoon as to save messages into other folders, delete the account and start over. This did not help. If you can, have you tried to use the Message Dispatcher to see if there are messages still left behind after downloading. It may be a corrupt message on the server causing the hang. I can't access the Message Dispatcher with that account. Just get a blank CC. I also have the occasional hang, but it is not very common. From your message it sounds like it must be happening on every download. Since it seems to be an isolated problem, it may require a reinstall. Stuart, thank you so much for your response. I am getting frantic, as my email work is starting to suffer. I just restored TB from a backup, the only way to get all my data into a new computer. I don't know if the restore is the culprit or not. You would think deleting and recreating an account would have some effect, but it just didn't. It is so discouraging to see all my work getting organized going down the tubes. Again, thank you.
