Try Folder - Browse Deleted Messages in the Trash folder.

Thank you all for your advice on how to retrieve a deleted message.
That one has disappeared (where does it go when deleted from Trash?)
but it certainly helps to know the Control-Z command and how to browse

Crtl-Z doesn't undelete a message; never has and probably never will.
It only undoes what you have been doing within the editor. I use it a
lot when I have deleted too much of the original text so that the
quoted context is too little to make sense. Note: I said deleted text
while in the editor. Once I delete a message, crtl-Z doesn't get it
back.

I always have to go into Browse deleted message to undelete
 something.

This is what you have to do to undelete messages.

When you delete a message, it is just marked asd deleted but still
exists in the folder where you deleted it from. This is were you can
find it until you compress the folder.

However, it will usually be *copied* into the trash folder. I am not
sure at the moment, but if you empty trash, I would think the same
happens: the messages will still be there (browse deleted) until you
compress it.

CTRL Z is a standard UNDO function, but if you have told it not to save
the message, or you saved it, then deleted it, you may be able to look in
the outbox folder, select Folders, and Browser Deleted Messages. You
may be able to undelete the message from there (that is if you haven't run
a purge of the folder.
