attachment storing
Hello TBUDL, Using The Bat! v1.53d on Windows 98 4.10 Build 1998 -- I have two accounts. Every account uses different folders on different network HDs for storing mail and attachments (apart from messages). Why the attachments themselves are NOT moving, when I am moving messages between the accounts? The same with filtering - I am receiving mail from one account, but some messages go after filtration on receiving to another (sort of private) one. The same thing - their attachments remain in the account, that was connecting to the net. (I see them, attached to the letter, but they are in the wrong folder. -- Rather often I send the same attachment (whether picture or document) to different recipients, and not simultaneously. Every time this attachment is stored _again_ (!) in the attachment folder, with adding '1', '2', and so on to its name... (Even if I take the attachment not from original place, but from already saved copy in attachment folder). But every time it thus takes more and more space on hard drive. The question: is there any way to stop duplicating the files in this case? I'm a little bit tired of manual deleting :)) -- Igor. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

Re: attachment storing
Hello Igor, On Mon, 12 Nov 2001 17:19:47 +0300 GMT (12/11/2001, 22:19 +0800 GMT), Igor Tikhomirov wrote: IT Why the attachments themselves are NOT moving, when I am moving IT messages between the accounts? IT The same with filtering I would call this a known bug. However, I was to learn that it will not be fixed as the storing of attachment seperate from message body is TB unique, was cooked up in the early days, but is not preferred any more. This and your second point: IT Every time this attachment is stored AGAIN in the attachment IT folder, with adding '1', '2', and so on to its name... have caused me to store attachments in message body, as, so I am made to understand, is the normal way. IT The question: is there any way to stop duplicating the files in IT this case? I'm a little bit tired of manual deleting :)) If I want to store attachments seperately, I do that manually. I have found that it is not very often. If I want to attach the same file to several messages, I either use forward (not MIME forward) and delete the references and original message body, or I store the attachment soemwhere (c:\tmp is my usual choice) from where I attach it to the different mails. -- Cheers, Thomas.
