I contacted the hosting provider and let a Teamviewer session
happen, but sending with TB for this PLESK hosting doesn't work unless TLS is
disabled at the server.
The technician suggested either buy a certificate or use Thunderbird.
Why would Thunderbird work, but not The Bat?

I have left it with TLS disabled at the server for the time being.

Thanks for the suggestion. Now the error message in the
account log is different:

!21/07/2016, 12:11:05: SEND - TLS handshake failure. Invalid server
certificate. The certificate or certificate chain is based on an untrusted root.

Possibly in your "Intermediate CA" address book? I have certificates
there for a couple of my email providers - but I don't remember if I
put them there myself.

server host name does not match certificate

2016-07-20 Thread Adrian Godfrey
The error messages is clear, but where do I find the certificate so
that I can see what is actually in there?

SEND - This certificate is self-issued.
SEND - TLS handshake failure. The server host name ("smtp.xxx.xxx") does not
match the certificate.

I don't get any warnings about the certificate or options to view it,
but only those error messages in the account log for the affected
email address.

The hosting uses PLESK as the control panel
My email client is The Bat Professional Version 7.

It's only a problem for sending. POP works.

Thanks in advance

Adrian
