  Not that I've realized.

Have you looked in the installation directory?

Where is you mail data kept, in the Mail directory in your
installation directory, or are you using the newly supported location,
i.e., C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\BatMail

I used the default/original/old directory structure, i.e. MAIN
 for all data files.

Tried this which is part of the mystery. TB! restores only
*some* of the common folders while ignoring others which
leaves me with the question of how to get TB! to recognize them.

The *.abd is devoid of all entries. So I don't get that either.

AM> Interesting problems. I'm sorry that I can't more solidly help

AM> TB!. I always just swap executables.

I did that as well but I've found that on actually releases,
it's sometimes better to clean out the old(er) files & start
  clean.

In *any* event, it seems to me that a TB! re-installation
shouldn't be such a mystery at this stage of development. This
has been a long running issue of sorts -- perhaps even as long
as your request for a wide msg list view.

If you or anyone has any further thoughts on my installation
questions, I'd sure appreciate hearing from you.

  Thanks.

Yes, it means running the complete installation.

Simply run the install. It will automatically update the old one.
Uninstalling and then reinstalling the newer version isn't necessary.

In fact, on the TB! download page, below the table listing the files
for download is:

,- / \

For full releases you may miss updates to files like the help.

Without the installation you will not get the smilies and if there were
any updates to the helpfile you will miss those as well.

I read also the other threads about installing v2.11., but I did not understand
one thing:
When you say "install over" do you mean to run the complete
installation exe or do you mean just to exchange to old thebat.exe
against the new thebat.exe ?

What other files does the installation exe update?

Is there a reason not to just swap simply the executables, but to run
the installation exe?

I want to migrate from 2.10.01 to 2.11.02.

That's NOD32 working and not TB!. NOD32's Winsock scanner will add
strings like that to the headers of infected messages.

Are you having any problems with memory leaking while using AMON? How

You'll likely have to recreate the virtual folders.

For the common folders, try a CTRL-Shift-Alt-L .

Interesting problems. I'm sorry that I can't more solidly help since
I've never actually uninstalled and then reinstalled TB!. I always
just swap executables.

wide msag list cudos & re-installation question

2004-06-05 Thread Jan Rifkinson
Batfolk, I have 3 items :

1. IMO, the full width message list view now available is
extremely useful so thanks for that, RitLabs.

2. Today I noticed that NOD32/Bat! identifies an infected file
right on the subject line by inserting [virus Win32/BagleAB worm]
for example before the original Re:. OTOH, maybe I didn't notice
it before. In any case, it's very neat so thanks again.

3. A question: What does TB! do with an original AB when TB! is
first un-installed & then re-installed in the same directory. For
example, I see that TB! preserves all QTs but I can't find my
original AB. Ditto for personal dictionary & can't figure out how
to re-install my common & virtual folders.

Can someone help me with this?

Thank you.
