sort of related to Ryzen 3 performance and Rawhide

2020-10-05 Thread David
This is just some positive hardware feedback, from
a newbie perspective.

I have a gigantic pc case with lots of air-flow and fans.

As I type this in Gmail via Firefox with a YouTube video playing,

my Ryzen 3 1200AF's temperature
hovers between 30.25 to 32.50 degrees Celsius
but mostly around 30.50
( this was after the BIOS allegedly boosted CPU by 6%, because I told
it that I have a tower-style air-cooler. ) Room temperature 22.78.

The cpu core speed fluctuates wildly between 1365 to 2172 MHz, but
mostly in the 1400's. [ according to cpu-x graphic utility ]

I do not know yet how to check other temperatures while in Fedora.

BIOS says the motherboard temperature is 30 degrees C.

I have no clue what I am doing, but I plan to tinker with the fans,
meaning re-arrange them, add some more, etc. in the coming weeks.
I do not yet see the point of wasting money on a water-cooler for my
set-up, but I want to do it someday in a future upgrade,
just for the learning experience. In the meantime, I am going to
watch some YouTube videos, and maybe look into getting a smaller
case or newer one. Mine is so 2015. LOL !

Do you have the updates-testing repo enabled? You can either add it for
one run of dnf by adding "--enablerepo=updates-testing" to the command
line or enable it permanently by running:

dnf config-manager --set-enabled updates-testing

How long is a string? :)

"stable" is a bit of a fluid concept. Things could very stable for you,
but not for someone else with different hardware or usage patterns.
Rawhide has been shipping release candidate versions of rpm for a while
now, so the move from that to the final release probibly isn't that much
change.

That does not seem very nice, but I guess nothing in guidelines against
it.

I think it's just trying to not load 'non free' javescript, which can
make browsing the modern web a bit difficult.

straight to a login screen when I haven't setup any accounts, the image is
supposed to boot into the sugar desktop startup screen, the installation was
done in a vm.

Hello siddy555, and welcome again.

Great.
As you have seen, here you can test updates for Fedora 31, Fedora 32,
and Fedora 33 before they reach the stable repository. Update testing
is where a tester tests a package and gives out a +1 Karma for PASS and
-1 Karma for FAIL. You can read much about update testing here [1]. You
can also use the fedora-easy-karma rpm package for giving out
feedbacks.

As you know Fedora 33 Beta was announced some days ago, and we are near
the final release. We are currently testing the F33 Release Validation.
Running release validation tests [0] [1] will be very helpful!

Ah! Today is Fedora 33 Cloud Test Day 2020-10-05 [3]. Test days in
Fedora are days dedicated to test some novelty or some particular
aspect in the operating system. Fedora community members often
participate, and the public is welcome at these events. If you’ve never
contributed before, this is a perfect way to get started. Join #fedora-
test-day channel on Freenode IRC to meet, discuss and share experiences
with other participants to the event.

We usually involve ourselves in activities marked in [2], you can catch
us mostly at #fedora-qa on freenode IRC or Telegram.

If you have any question, please ask!
