So as to leave no stone un-turned, I installed XFCE from the most current Beta
and did an update. I then installed T-Bird. I again had no trouble to display
the sample messages you posted to the list.

I installed a new hard drive in addition to the others and installed a
new copy of F22b from the same USB flash drive. I rsync'd .thunderbird
from a copy on the NSF server as I usually do and the iPhone text
messages are displayed without any problem. I don't know what is causing
the problem with the F-22 on the other drive. However I the other drive
will be cleared and used for something else. Hopefully the problem was
cured with a re-install!

What can I say, sorry for the noise?

Yes, I agree, I have this problem and it may be unique, I also respect

One other symptom I should mention, If I forward the blank sms message

Can't display text messaging -

2015-04-25 Thread Bob Goodwin ~ Zuni, Virginia, USA

This system updated today, Thunderbird 35.5.0 can not display text
messages sent from an iPhone.

Message source shows the following:

Date: Fri, 24 Apr 2015 22:22:11 +
MIME-Version:1.0
Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
 type=application/smil;
 boundary=__CONTENT_64564_PART_BOUNDARY__33243242__

My BCC from this F-22b computer displays as usual. Another computer
running Fedora-21 and Thunderbird 31.6.0 displays the messages.

I use this to exchange a number of messages via VZWPIX.COM daily. I can
get by looking at the message source but would like to fix it. Trying
various settings in MIME editor hasn't helped, it defaults to
application/smil+xmlDefaultvideo

It looks like I should try replacing Thunderbird with an earlier version ...

Any suggestion appreciated,

Bob

It needed the Driver evdev line to work. I never used that before? I
took that from your 00-evdev-mouse.conf

Maybe it's just enough to restart X. ;)
I don't know how to restart X? Must be a systemctl restart command.
Whatever I tried didn't work, I just reboot and wait ...

Here's one I use:

Section InputClass
 Identifier Device Accel Velocity Scaling
 MatchIsPointer on
 MatchDevicePath /dev/input/event*
 Option VelocityScale 1000
 Driver evdev

$ pkexec yum install xorg-x11-drv-evdev
$ man 4 evdev

.
Yes, that restores the Sensitivity adjustment. Without that I just ran
the Acceleration at max! Now I have another adjustment to play with.

I don't often hear complaints about the lack of this function but I
can't do without it. Copy/paste is really a lot of trouble without it,
I've just made the necessary changes since F-14 and I am happy. These

copy/paste except a lot of clicking around. I can only hope a solution
will be offered.

Copy/paste problem -

2015-04-23 Thread Bob Goodwin ~ Zuni, Virginia, USA

At least to me it is impotent that I have a convenient copy/paste
routine without a lot of complicated clicking here and there.

From my notes:

To make 2-button copy/paste work in F-14 add the following section to:
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf -

Section InputClass
 Identifier whatever
 MatchIsPointer on
 Option Emulate3Buttons on
EndSection

I can't find /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf. I have been
able to do this on every version of Fedora since F-14 until now,
Fedora-22beta.

Perhaps someone can tell me where to change this?

That's interesting and may provide a clue to the underlying problem but
before doing that I would prefer to eliminate the graphical interface
and use text to start, I usually make that change although I was trying
to leave this closer to the defaults.

Thanks,

As for me I can live with what I have until there's a Fedora rpm or a
yum update. I prefer text to the graphic default, will eventually change
to multi-user.target.

Password not recognized -

2014-10-06 Thread Bob Goodwin - Zuni, Virginia, USA
I have an updated Fedora 21 alpha that has worked perfectly until this
morning's update. I rebooted and it no longer recognizes my password at
the GUI loin screen. I does recognize me from this F-20 computer as bobg
or root via ssh. I thought perhaps caps lock was on but no?

Is it just me ?

I've fixed the problem by eliminating the login gui and reverting to a
runlevel 3 type text boot screen. I prefer that anyway.

This morning's update also wiped out my preferred copy/paste by
highlightinh the text to be copied, that had to be restored too.

Yes that did work but it protested about starting xfce, it required
startxfce -- :1 From there on I could do what needed to be done.

Yes I know that. I am trying to determine if I am a unique case. It may
be that no one has booted since this morning's update? I reboot after

I find that CUPS works simplest for me. In browser localhost:631
login as root at the CUPS prompt or else it wont let you do anything.

   Add Printer AppSocket/HP JetDirect

In my system the address for an HP C-6800 is socket://192.168.1.11:9100

Then follow menu items for manufacturer and model. I used the same
procedure for the two Brother laser printers also. Just added the HP
printer in F-18 and printed test page without a problem.

It appears that this problem can be fixed by adding the following to
   /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf

   Section InputClass
 Identifiersystem-setup-keyboard
 MatchIsKeyboard on
 OptionXkbOptionsterminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
   EndSection

At least it works for me.

   Thanks for the help,

Did that but did not find a menu item specifically for

Yes, that does the trick, ran the command and Ctrl+ALT+Backspace log

Than you, a seemingly minor thing but it really simplifies things here.
