[Tex-music] IMSLP Chopin's mazurka pmx engraving files

2020-04-18 Thread Bob Tennent
 >| How does one find out how many time a particular file on

Go to the relevant work page, find the relevant sheet-music
heading, find the relevant file and look for a line like this:

#117989 - 0.10MB, 6 pp. - 8/10 2 4 6 8 10 (2) - 1680×

The first item is the file number (needed to upload a revised file),
then comes the file size and number of pages,
then a rating from users,
and finally the number of downloads.

You can get more detailed statistics by clicking on the
number of downloads.

How does one find out how many time a particular file on IMSLP has been
downloaded?

Presumably the source file was corrupted at some point.

Andre: Please send me privately the full pmx file and I'll
try and upload it to IMSLP.

I don't agree that a separate repository would have that
desired effect. And setting up the infrastructure and
maintaining the meta-data would be massive. As Christian
has said, it'll never happen. Even setting up a suitable
"gallery" of *links* to musixtex-based scores at IMSLP would
be hard.

Jean-Pierre's suggestion is a good one: ask IMSLP to set up
"typeset with MusiXTeX" as a tag. I've contributed dozens
of scores to IMSLP but I would be willing to tag them. And
though I would send sources to anyone who requested them,
I'm not willing to routinely upload "engraving files" for
every new submission, much less all of the existing ones.

Christian: You've dealt with the IMSLP administration in the
past; would you be willing to negotiate with them?

I'm still in contact with a couple of the IMSLP admins and will forward
this matter to them.

Best wishes

Once in
https://imslp.org/wiki/Mazurkas,_Op.67_(Chopin,_Fr%C3%A9d%C3%A9ric) click
on #225437 and it will offer Upload a new version of this file. Then the
instructions are easy to follow.

BTW does anybody know why are MusiXTeX and pmx files downloaded about 10 %
as many times as the pdf? Who finds something useful in them?

Try a Google search with "engraving files musixtex" site:imslp.org
Is this what you want?

I attach an example of imslp work page source, so you can understand what
a tag is and the editting job needed to add one once you are an imslp
subscriber. (look at the bottom)

Rodolfo: I use PhotoScore to convert PDF scores to midi
but XML output is also possible.

https://www.neuratron.com/photoscore.htm

The full version isn't cheap but a demo version is available
for free and a "lite" version is only $59.

I could try to use my PhotoScore on one of the Jensen scores
but I wouldn't be willing or able to fix the inevitable
scanning errors.

Re: [Tex-music] Visioconference application for musicians: Jamulus

2020-04-18 Thread Bodo Meißner

Zitat von Jean-Pierre Coulon :

but what is the logic to play together? Do we have to click on
Connect and agree on a server with 0 musicians at that time?

If there is a currently unused server with low ping time you can use it.

We were lucky to find a free server first, later a few other musicians
jouned our session and improvised to our music. This was interesting.

Now I have set up a private server on a rented (virtual) Linux root server.

It is possible to use a server for more than one band if everyone
mutes the unrelated musicians. In the settings you can define the
volume for new musicions. You can set this to 0 if you don't want to
hear joining musicians.
You could tell the other musicians in the chat that you want to use
the server for a separate session.

I suggest to read the documentation including FAQ and Tips
https://github.com/corrados/jamulus/wiki/Software-Manual
