Saving differences between versions
I'm just getting started after years of using an alternate GTD tool, so far I'm very impressed. I noticed that d-cubed saves in a different way to monkey, is this a plugin that can be applied to any of the TiddlyWiki variants? mGSD Next and Waiting Actions by Context Bug?
I do not see any Next Actions in the mGSD Next and Waiting Actions by Context view. All I see are Waiting actions. I suspect there is a bug in the code, but I am not sufficiently versed in tiddlywiki javascript to fix it without investing a lot of time. Has anyone else noticed this and been able to fix it? Can you please post the fix? Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups GTD TiddlyWiki group. New user experience and questions
Hi, I've been using Thinking Rock for GTD for a while now and have just picked up (and transferred tasks into) mGSD, a few things either struck me as questions or issues other people may see. 1. The initial hurdle to using mGSD was the fact it wouldn't save changes on my PC at work (the IT dept have restricted internet explorer) but was fine at home (Firefox). This was irritating as d- cubed saved just fine and from what I could tell with a bit of research seemed to be doing the same thing on save. I discovered that if I did a save as... and specified a complete file (rather than the file/folder combo thing) then when I opened that newly saved file I could then use the save changes option. Very odd behaviour and I'd have given in if I weren't so stubborn. 2. I see lots of references to journal tiddlers, what's the idea with them? I like the idea of keeping journal entries in mGSD as it would keep my Work Log and Task List in the same place. But I couldn't see how you reviewed previous journal entries effectively. 3. Is there an option that will force actions to inherit the star if their projects have it? 4. I've just dumped my details into mGSD from Thinking Rock and noticed that IE slowed down a lot, is this a known issue? Running at home firefox hasn't had any problems with speed. 5. I'm used to Projects, Actions and Contexts but Realms and Areas are new to me. I get the impression Areas are like never ending Projects, thus Projects are really sub-projects of Areas. Is this how people use them? Realms are much more obvious as they provide a clear way to shift focus between managing work tasks/home tasks/whatever. I'm really impressed with the quality of the software, nicely done. Cheers, Gary -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups GTD TiddlyWiki group. Re: Falling behind on accumulating actions
Create a project for Doing Critiques, add your first do critique action as the next action then queue up all the other critique actions on the one before it. This will mean that you have them all listed as needing done but only the first one will show up in the Next Actions list. Clutter = gone. I just figured that explaining my scenario would be the easiest way to describe the issue I'm talking about. Simple *.txt file plugin for mobile export/import
Anyone who knows JavaScript (JS), please let me know what you think of this idea. I myself don't yet know JS (just beginning to intermediate C++ Java), but I think it shouldn't be very difficult to write a plugin which exports lists to *.txt files, and imports from them to automatically create Next Actions etc. using formatting, tags, etc. How easy would it be to do this? Or are there particular limitations in JS? I noticed in reading this forum that there's lot's of posts by mGSD users wishing to have something on mobile phone. A text file import-export plugin could be used by everyone with a simple memo application on their mobile, regardless of operating system. If nobody else does it, I may try to learn enough JS to write such a plugin, which would be very useful for me at least. It would at least be more efficient than using paper notes, and copying pasting lists to sync. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups GTD TiddlyWiki group. When a click on the + buttons in a project tiddler (Create a new...) I sometimes get a popup prompt asking for the name of the new action -- but sometimes + just invokes the slider. For newly created projects, I get the prompt (which is what I would prefer). But once I click on [active] or [someday/maybe], all I get is slider action. This happens both in FF and IE8. Can you still use a section? - or maybe even a section from the notestiddler (:-notes##info)?? jup info:-notes##info works The code is near createPortlet: function(here, name) { wikify(store.getTiddlerText(name+this.lblInfo), content); where name is the name of the tiddler which is created and this.lblInfo is the -notes##info. So you can use sections and slices inside a note, or the whole note if you want. But be aware, that complex rendering inside the portlet may brake because of missing css. [tw] pass paramter through a link

[tw] Re: JQSorterPlugin request(s)
Hi PMario, I think the best approach would be to have a dropable-sortable list to where you could drag a handle next to a tiddlers title ...and thus add the tiddler to the list. The culprits however are updates: 1) Remove tiddlers from the sortable list that are no longer found? 2) How would your sorted list be able to get notified of any name- changes? Finally, I guess there could be a kind of macro to (re)poulate the list based on a list of tagged tiddlers. At the beginning, when the list is empty you would simply fill it with all tiddlers tagged xyz. If the list is non-empty, you compare all tagged tiddlers to those already on the list, add any new items at the bottom while asking the user if he wants to remove all orphans, in case there are any. (Re)Populating a list could be done by ctrl-dragging just the same handle but next to a tag-tiddler's title onto the sortable list. On the other hand, while all of this may look nicer, it doesn't seem much easier than editing a tiddler's source, does it? ...while there would also be no benefit of making actually persistent links that survive name changes. [tw] Re: Announcing: readCount plugin, for knowing how much of a TW you've read
Hello, Thanks to everyone for all the feedback. My next version of the plugin is up: http://jrlplugins.tiddlyspace.com/ - it's showing in the MainMenu now. The motivation for this is that I want to think of this plugin as a TiddlyWiki analogue of page numbers in a book - it and they show you how far through you are. So I've made it much more compact and removed the text. Changes: 1. You can provide a single parameter, which sets the width in pixels e.g. readCount 100 2. The read and unread text has gone and the numbers have changed what they show - now it's x/total, rather than x/y, where x is read and y unread. I think this is more sensible. When you click on a number, you get a list of the read or unread tiddlers. Source: http://jrlplugins.tiddlyspace.com/readCountPlugin (FND, haven't tweaked the content-type yet...) Hope this is an improvement. J. On Aug 1, 1:42 pm, twgrp matiasg...@gmail.com wrote: On Jul 22, 6:56 pm, jnthnlstr jnthnl...@gmail.com wrote: Any feedback welcome. Hey, great plugin! [tw] Re: JQSorterPlugin request(s)
Hi Tobias and Mario I think the best approach would be to have a dropable-sortable list to where you could drag a handle next to a tiddlers title ...and thus add the tiddler to the list. jQSorter already has a similar - very quick way of adding an already existing tiddler. #Create a tiddler [[tiddler1]] #in jQSorter click the add item button () #Write the title of the newly created tiddler [[tiddler1]] #It's been added to the list. #Move it to the preferred location in the list - and/or copy it to other lists #Click the saveicon to update the individual tiddlerlist tiddlers (storylists) One of the great things about jQSorter is that it is very simple and intuitive to use - You can create listitems (also non existing tiddlers) on the fly, thereby arrange ie. slideshows/tiddlerlists with shadowtiddlers :) which again can be shared/copied by drag'n drop to many other slideshows/tiddlerlists. When you have created your headings and lists - you can start creating content simply by clicking listitems in the jQSorterlist. Of course it would be great with even more drag'n drop features - and an ability to sort dynamically generated lists as well, however I think the jQSorterPlugin is an essential tool to be compared with ie. sortabletablePlugin - and ought to be just as simple to install - with as few dependencies as possible Let users have the privilege of getting to know jQSorterPlugin in it's own right, then extend it with even more plugins Just my 2 cents on the matter..
