weekly report of completed tasks
Hi all, I am a PhD student and I'm thinking about starting to use a tiddlywiki (probably mGSD) to help me getting things done, and keeping a track of my research. This tiddlywiki would be both a tool to apply the GTD method, and a science notebook, with (organised) notes, references to articles, etc. My first question is : would you use two tiddlywikis to separate the two functions, or do you think it is OK to have a single file (because of course my scientific notes can imply future actions/projects) The second question (relative to the subject of this post) : how to make a report of what have been achieved during last week/month ? Do I have to make journal entries ( which are, according to my understanding, simple tiddlers with a date as title) ? Or is there an attribute of 'creation date' for all the tiddlers that could be used to sort and filter the tiddlers ? If such an attribute exists, is it automaticaly updated on tiddlers modifrication ? Thank you for your help ... -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups GTD TiddlyWiki group. Re: mGSD Enhancement - newbie question about initial setup
Truth be told, I get this one too... at first load. After I click around the tabs and load a tiddler or two, it seems to disappear. Quite frankly I just ignore it, it's not been intrusive enough for me to seriously debug it (although I tried at one point long ago...) I'll try and make some time to look into it. Thanks for the compliments by the way!! Cheers, David. Re: mGSD Enhancements Plug-ins
FYI - I've downloaded it and will try it out. You can download an empty copy by right-clicking and saving this link (not loading it): http://thinkcreatesolve.biz/mGSDEnhancements-empty.html I'll post back in this thread after I've had a look. Thanks, David. [tw] Is it dangerous to bug Tiddlywiki if too many tags are defined
Hi all, I am using TW since a while for personal and professional needs. I am using TW with the hope to have all this knowledge still available and organised in 2, 5, 8... years. The way I am working, I am defining a lot of Tag. I am wondering whether defining too much tag can lead to issue with times. I am define a tag per day so I predict to define about 400 tags a year, so 2000 tags after 5 years. Should I change my approach? Is TW robust to that? Thanks a lot. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. To post to this group, send email to tiddlywiki@googlegroups.com. [tw] Re: Is it dangerous to bug Tiddlywiki if too many tags are defined
1) Iam not aware of when certain limitations would kick in and so far I have not come accross complaints in that regard. 2) I tend to separate areas of interest into different TiddlyWiki... often it does not make sense to collect all your knowledge or project notes or ideas in one wiki. 3) I don't think your mental categories (as reflected by your wiki) should grow in a linear fashion or even more drastically... if they do, then I would suggest you work on your categorization system - something that inevitably comes with collecting knowledge - you restructure and regroup your bits and pieces as complexity grows in order to keep it all tied up in a way that is explorable. Imagine you would have papers with sticky registers on the side and you would randomly throw new stuff on that pile with said sticky note. Now, what good would those sticky notes be if you had no efficient way to inspect the pile? So, you need drawers, you need cabinets, different storage for different kinds of knowledge. Of course, you don't start with all these... but at some point you may need to reorganize your stuff, or it will simply be one big pile of everything where you have no way off finding the literal needle in the haystack. [tw] Re: New mGSD Feature: Meetings!
Hi Andre, sorry for the late reply. I will post a minimal file in the next couple of days. I've experienced problems with the theme, when loading the file for the first time. After clicking to set the theme, it seems to stick. I think it's something to do with cookies even though I've hardcoded the default theme in a number of places! Puzzling, and still working on it. I don't run IE, so I can't comment... but I do recall not getting anywhere with mGSD in general under IE, the one time I tried it. (PortableApps.com may be a great help to you if you're tied in...) If you let me know the particular error, I'll address it. Thanks for the kind words! David. On Wednesday, 14 March 2012 10:41:50 UTC-4, apowell656 wrote: David, I really like this addition to mGSD. Unfortunately, the only thing that worked for me to add the plug-ins to my existing file is the Status Update. When I tried to add the other plug-ins is when problems showed up: - When clicking on a project there was an error with a macro ( I do not remember exactly what it was something with icons) - The theme would not stay loaded. Although, that may be more me since I am a newbie with TW and changing themes - I also tried to start from scratch from a plain file downloaded from your site and it would not run under IE (which I am kind of tied into for work) I noticed that there are a lot of plug-ins installed, are they all needed? I tried to manually delete the ones I thought were not needed with no success. Is there a *bare* *minimum* file that you could post? Again, it would be useful and great if added to the core of mGSD, but what would you recommend? Andre -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: @Eric - Problems when trying to update plugins in the PasteUp QuickStart document...
Hi Eric Correction When I use PasteUpHelper for editing text (in a classic TW) I can't save changes made in the EditSection textbox I use only the most current version of plugins... PasteUpHelper actually works fine with parts made from other tiddlers - I can't save changes when I use local sections (in the same tiddler).. For local sections I have to use shift + leftclick to be able to edit and *save* content.. [tw] sort on TiddlerSlice

[tw] mGSD CommonMenu Tiddler Additions?
I downloaded the latest version of the mGSD tiddlywiki (truly, an awesome resource!) and have been really digging it so far, adding plugins to make it suit me. However, I seem to be having trouble with one change. I'd like to add a Quote of the Day to the common sidebar (perhaps just above the save changes bit), so I downloaded the following plugins in addition to the Quotations tiddler: http://www.tiddlytools.com/#QuoteOfTheDayPlugin http://www.tiddlytools.com/#QuoteOfTheDayPluginInfo I then added the following line in the CommonMenu tiddler: QOTD Quotations 1 However, while I get the Quote if I open the CommonMenu tiddler, I don't see it in the sidebar. Is CommonMenu not used for this? Thanks in advance, Roland -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Tags too many in Editing a tiddler
Thank you for creating tbGTD. I am trying to get in it. have one suggestion. The tags are getting more and more when using more tags.
