[tw] Re: Announcing TiddlyWiki version 5.1.8

2015-04-19 Thread Neil Griffin
Jeremy,

Thanks for looking into this.

I can confirm that I am using the upgrader at the address you specified. I
started using a prerelease dating from about 21st March and my backups from
soon after this have the same problems. My backups from before this using
v5.1.7 give an error message when I use the upgrader but seem to upgrade
okay if I dismiss the message (I remember that I had this when I upgraded
to the prerelease and I had to exclude a particular tiddler from the
upgrade to get it to work - can't remember which tiddler, but I could
probably find again by trial and error).

Sounds like this might be an object lesson in not upgrading my main wikis
to a prerelease. Looks like dragging tiddlers from the affected wikis onto
a clean v5.1.8 avoids the problem, and the clean wiki then upgrades okay,
so hopefully this will get me back on track.

Cheers,

Neil.

I've been unable to duplicate the problem except by upgrading from an
intermediate 5.1.8-prerelease that included the bug. Can you confirm that
you are seeing the problem when you upgrade a 5.1.7 wiki?

2015-04-19 Thread Kevin Cornmell
Does the TiddlyLock plugin work in TW5 for anyone ? If so, can someone
explain how to install it, please.

The dragdrop method doesnt seem to work - ceratinly not with Centos

I've managed it in TWC no problems.

I modified h2 to h4 in

$:/core/ui/ViewTemplate/title

but now the space between the title and the text of the tiddler is too
large.

I will try the CSS option.

Thank you for your help.

TWClassic and TiddlyWiki v5+ have very different internal architectures.
*None* of the plugins for TWClassic will work in TiddlyWiki5 at least,
not without being completely re-written from the ground up.

Fortunately, many of the previous TWClassic plugins are simply no longer
needed in TiddlyWiki v5+... because the functionality they provided is now
part of the TWCore code. Unfortunately, TiddlyLock is *not* one of those
plugins... in particular, because it is includes to file I/O handling,
and most modern browsers now block direct local filesystem access due to
security issues.

Important note: The above applies to the *stand-alone* version of
TiddlyWiki. If you are using nodeJS, TiddlyFox, or TiddlyDesktop, there
*is* some support for direct local file system access, because each of
these applications is installed and run locally, and can request access to
priviledged file I/O functions.

Another important note: the nodeJS usage stores individual tiddler as
separate files. This permits multiple users to simultaneously make changes
to *different* tiddlers without a problem. However, I don't think that
nodeJS *currently* handles collisions when two people try to update the
same tiddler at the same time: any changes saved by the first person will
be overwritten when the second person saves their tiddler changes. Whoever
saves last, wins.

Sorry I couldn't provide a more useful answer...

Nope. It inserts the PDF as a binary file, stored using base64-text
encoding. When you view the PDF tiddler directly (or embed it via
transclusion), it renders the PDF inline within your browser... but it's
still a binary. It's not plain text.

[tw] Re: Announcing TiddlyWiki version 5.1.8

Hi Rustem,

Thanks for the explanation!

The power of TiddlyWiki! Can get very confusing at first.
[[GettingStarted - Node.js]] is just a wrapper around [[Installing
TiddlyWiki on Node.js]]. It's purpose is to make the latter appear in
[[GettingStarted]] as one of the tabs. The list of tabs is auto-generated
 by a filter that includes [prefix[GettingStarted - ]] operator.

Many Thanks to Jeremy All the Contributors!!

Little thing I found. Two identical tiddlers on TiddlyWiki.com?
There is still a tiddler called: GettingStarted - Node.js (8 month old)
Isn't this superseded by a newer tiddler: Installing TiddlyWiki on
 Node.js (24 days old)
Only title seems different and oldert one is untagged.

I'm delighted to announce that TiddlyWiki version 5.1.8 has finally been
 released to:

 http://tiddlywiki.com/

Remember to keep careful backups before upgrading existing wikis at:

 http://tiddlywiki.com/upgrade.html

This has turned out to be a fairly major new release, with many bug
fixes and new features, and many improvements to the documentation:

 * New online plugin library
 * New warning banner when a reload is needed after adding plugins
 * New railroad plugin
 * Eight new languages
 * New facility for setting a page background image
 * Updated KaTeX plugin with improved symbol support
 * New full edition with all new languages and plugins

See the release note at http://tiddlywiki.com/#Release%205.1.8 for more
 details.

I'd like to personally thank everyone who has helped with this release -
more individuals than ever before. It's been a difficult time with illness
and work, and the gap between releases has stretched far too far, but I'm
very happy with the progress we've made with this release. TiddlyWiki seems
to be getting better and better.

As usual, feedback is gratefully received!

 Best wishes

[tw] [TW5] Upgrade 5.1.7 to 5.1.8: tabs Macro (Examples) not showing

2015-04-19 Thread Ed
I have upgraded for 5.1.7. to 5.1.8, and I am running into a problem.

Searched for tabs and then you get tabs Macro and tabs Macro
(Examples)
On tiddlywiki.com the content shows nicely and you can try out the tabs.

On my version there is nothing to see. When in edit mode however all the
code is there.
I am flabbergasted. Please anybody helping hands available.
Thanks in advance
Salut! Ed.

[tw] Palette causing TypeError: rgbColourA is null

2015-04-19 Thread Rustem
When I switch to a custom palette, TiddlyWiki starts throwing TypeError:
rgbColourA is null. What am I missing, or is this a bug?

Thanks.

[tw] Re: Announcing TiddlyWiki version 5.1.8

2015-04-19 Thread cmari
Hi Jeremy,
I still can't successfully use the upgrader or drag a file from the period
after March 21st.
However, files dated before that (including 5.1.7 and earlier prerelease
versions) can be upgraded to 5.1.8 successfully.

If I hadn't been so impatient to see all the new features in action, I
could have waited - but the export workaround was mentioned at just the
right time.

Please can you confirm the version number of the wikis before you tried

 Many thanks,

I had the same problem and saw that others also reported it. I spent a
lot of time trying the same things you've tried. What worked in the end was
exporting all my tiddlers to json format, following the instructions Eric

I was then able to drag the exported file into an empty new version
 without any errors.

Great to see this release, but I'm having trouble with the upgrader
which seems to be breaking all my single quotes (they all appear as
#39;). I have used these in various places around filter strings and in
javascript macros and widgets, as well as in normal text, so it is causing
me a headache. Tried in both Firefox and Chrome with the same result. I
also tried downloading an empty TW and creating a tiddler with single
quotes which were handled correctly by the upgrader. I didn't have this
problem a few weeks ago when I upgraded my wikis to the prerelease.

Any ideas what might be going on? Have I messed up my character
 encoding or something?

 Cheers,

 Neil.

[tw] view zip files in tw5.1.8

2015-04-19 Thread Thomas Schulte
I can import a zip file containing 1 text file into Tiddlywiki by drag and
drop but can't view anything useable in the zip using Firefox.
How do I look at the contents of the zip file?

2015-04-19 Thread Albert
Hi Jeremy,

There's a very little issue at tiddlywiki.com: in 5.1.8 release description:
release date still appears as TBA.

Thank you for this release (plugin management is a great addition)!

By the way, any chance to implement a charting widget?

Albert
