This threads title does little to promote this great idea. Which I only now 
understand because I spent a little time working through the conversations. 
I know much of this has being said but its being in discussion rather than 
statements.

Please let me try

When using the default save mechanism in any browser, you can save changes 
resulting in a download of the whole Wiki, having an automatic process on 
your computer, the wiki can then be copied back to your original single 
file wiki. There by keeping the original upto date. This is done by running 
a monitor and copy process in your local computer.

Open a tiddlywiki.html file (by another name) using your local file manager 
and it will open in your default browser. Without any other save mechanism 
in place, Each time you save, the browser will download the latest version 
of the wiki into your downloads folder. This means the updated version is 
not saved over the original version you opened, but you have a copy of the 
latest version.

(As I understand it) Mark S solution is to run a batch process on the 
computer to take any updated wiki copy in the downloads folder and copy it 
back to its source wikifile, thus keeping the original up to date.

My View on this
Josiah and Mark are right to think this could be a ground breaking way to 
manage wiki saves. Mark has done a good job of building a Powershell to do 
this. We can write batch shell scripts for every operating system and share 
these quite easily.

Personally I think an executable program to do the same, or even just 
install and help configure, may be a better option in time, allowing it to 
be installed Quickly and a version for each Operating system made 
available. These executables my just create the correct scripts.

Although this process seems somewhat universal it does expect a certain 
behaviour from the browser(s) which could actually change in time. We need 
to monitor this and add additional methods if these change.

Ok - I see. My tiddlers don't have a "/" in any of their names so that 
explains it. A couple more questions now. What does the "chunk" parameter 
do? Also, would it be terribly difficult to modify the macro to list the 
folders first and also not to exclude the prefix from the listed tiddler 
names?

Ah, sorry, you're saying that you can't get it to work in your wiki.

The tiddlers must, as far as I can tell, use a file path name with /

So if you have e.g <> then other tiddlers should be 
named e.g hey/one , hey/one/one  etc

In the example given at TiddlyWiki.com, based on prefix $:/, scroll down 
until you get to "boot". It has a folder icon in front of it.  Clicking on 
it expands it to show the sub-tiddlers.

So ... the expandable part needs to be deeper one level. If your test data 
only has one level of "depth", then you won't get an expandable folder.

I get is a single list of tiddler titles that start with the prefix I give 
the macro. Plus, the prefix is removed from the list which I'd like to not 
have happen.

I'm curious as to whether or now anyone has used the built in tree macro 
very much. The documentation says that it creates an expandable tree based 
on tiddler titles, but I never seem to get an expandable tree. All I get is 
an indented list of tiddlers with the titles shown minus the prefix I used. 
I think this could be very useful, but presently doesn't really seem to be. 
How do I use the macro differently to get a true expandable tree of tiddler 
titles? There must be something fundamental that I'm missing. I've tried 
looking at the macro, but my lack of macro experience makes it very hard to 
follow. I'm wanting to use this to generate an expandable tag tree.

I've found a quirk with Savetiddlers extension for Chrome.  Every time I 
shut down my Chromebook, I lose the extension and have to reload it before 
I open my tiddlywiki.  If I forget to reload the extension, open and save 
my tiddlywiki, it gets saved in my downloads folder instead of 
tiddlywikilocations, and no previous version is saved.  

Does anyone know of a way to make the Savetiddlers extension persistent, 
like all the other extensions?  
Why does this happen?

One simple point. Its BONKERS that you only get one field!

Its so limited it blocks leverage to the evident needed more.

JSON data is better,. but support is natively limited to simple structures. 
No data nesting natively possible.

grabs a different field, say, a 'filename' field, instead of the title

Jeremy well knows the pores and cons of this feature in the core! 

I think it is good to have a consolidated approach and I support JSON 
tiddlers!

I m not sure if both dictionary tiddlers and json tiddlers will not be 
improved or this plan is
only for dictionary tiddlers!

confusion about your PowerShell script. I was slightly gob-smacked. But it 
may be only you, I, and the three-legged dog "get" it so far? Though it 
might be me confusing Yakov.

Very simply useful I think.

Lets pretend a use case. You have a large complex structured hierarchy.

Its great how simple "Level One" gets accurate numbers.

What I'm wondering is whether that can be iterated for all sub-levels?
