Re: [tw5] Transclusion in Markdown

2018-04-14 Thread David A. Gershman
Are you sure the "MyTiddler" case and syntax is correct?  I just ran a
test on my 5.1.5 and it worked fine under Linux/FF.  Also, which browser
are you using?  I only have Sierra, not High Sierra, but can test on it
w/FF or Safari if you'd like.

Re: [tw5] Re: Question about organization

2018-04-11 Thread David A. Gershman
Hmmm...I did have preview on.  I also wondered if it was just the junk
machine I have...it's a work machine and they push a ton of big-brother
bloat onto them and it still tends to crank the fan even w/16G.  I'll do
some more investigating.

Either way, it sounds like TW5 doesn't have any major limitations in the
length of the Tiddler and I was really looking to verify that.

Thanks!

[tw5] Question about organization

2018-04-10 Thread David A. Gershman
So I was using TW5 today documenting some processes at work while I was
hashing it out.  It seemed TW5 got a little sluggish the bigger the
Tiddler got.  Now to be fair looking back at what I did, I should have
created more Tiddlers (perhaps 1 per section of effort) versus several
sections of effort in a single Tiddler.

Is this normal?  i.e. is TW5 build to work better with shorter Tiddlers
rather than longer ones?

As a rough measure of size, my typical Tiddler, using markup (no
graphics or such), was probably about 70-100 lines.

Just curious really so as to better use TW5 in the future.

Thanks!

[tw] Links to external tiddler via static file?

2018-04-05 Thread David A. Gershman
Hello,

I'm setting up a collection of TiddlyWiki files (straight HTML, not
Node-based or anything special) and have a Tiddler I've been importing
to all of the TiddlyWiki files, which is a list of the TiddlyWiki
files.  Let me explain:

I'm creating several "Notebooks", each notebook is a single TiddlyWiki
file.  Currently, I have a "Notebooks" Tiddler which I maintain a list
of all the notebooks (with links to them).  I want this Tiddler in all
of my Notebooks.  To do so, everytime I update the "Notebooks" Tiddler
in a master file, I then need to import it to all of my other notebooks
TiddlyWiki files.

My hopeful solution, was to create this "Notebooks" Tiddler in a single
location, and just have every other notebook file /point/ to the "master
list".  So, given any Notebook TiddlyWiki file, when the user clicks on
the "Notebooks" tab or link, the TiddlyWiki file will not import, just
go pull the Tiddler from the master location.

For example, perhaps I am currently viewing /CoolInformation.html/ and
could have something like:

[ext[Notebooks|/path/to/master.html#ListOfNotebooks]]

However, this will open a new tab with the /master.html/ file.  I'm
wondering if there is a way to "pull" the "ListOfNotebooks" Tiddler for
viewing as if it was already in the /CoolInformation.html/ file?

Thanks!

--David

P.S. I've been putting HTML formatting in these emails.  Is this
acceptable?  Some mailing lists frown upon it and prefer strict text.

Re: [tw] Re: Feature Request

I agree. I also thought it'd be nice to have the cursor automatically
focus on the password box after clicking the lock icon...but I *think*
that's a small change I can make.  We'll see how bad I botch it. :)

[tw] Feature Request

2018-04-04 Thread David A. Gershman
Hello,

I have a use case where it would be helpful for individual Tiddlers to
be encrypted with their own passwords.  I don't know how difficult it
would be to add, on a Tiddler, an input field for the password.  If a
password is provided, the Tiddler content gets decrypted then viewed or
edited depending upon the request.  Upon checking (saving), if the
password field has content, the Tiddler is encrypted prior to saving,
else not.

Naturally searching would not be able to search within encrypted
Tiddlers, but that's just the nature of the beast.  "Meta-Tiddlers"
could be used for keywords for search and then link to the encrypted
Tiddlers (up to the user), or perhaps, the encryption/decryption of the
Tiddler is only on the content and not the Tiddler tags (probably a good
idea anyway).

Thoughts?

[tw] Sidebar Default Tab

2018-04-03 Thread David A. Gershman
Hello,

I created a TableOfContents tab for my side bar and then went into the
control panel and navigated to:

    Settings -> Default Sidebar Tab

and selected "TableOfContents".  However, when I close my browser (which
clears all data) and reopen my TiddlyWiki, the default tab which shows
is still "Tools".

Thoughts?

[tw] Sidebar Tab Order

2018-04-03 Thread David A. Gershman
Hello,

I'm not a JS expert but have done a little research to attempt to create
2 new tabs: Notebooks and TableOfContents.  I've successfully created
the two tabs and now want to re-order them in the side bar.

First, to add them to the sidebar, I've added the tag " $:/tags/SideBar"
to both tiddlers.

Next, I want TableOfContents listed before the core "Open" tab, so I
created a field:value of:

        list-before:  $:/core/ui/SideBar/Open

This works fine.

Now, I want to place the Notebooks tab in font of the now in front
TableOfContents, so I created a field:value of:

        list-before: TableOfContents

and this is where things go off.  The Notebooks tab is placed at the end
of the list of tabs.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!
