explore, but there's still a lot to be done.

Re: [tw] New alpha of TiddlyWiki5

2012-07-14 Thread wolfgang

Classic TiddlyWiki runs on pretty much any browser since around 2004,
and the plan is that it will continue alongside TW5. Eric Shulman is taking
 over as lead developer.

TiddlyWiki5 can also generate classic TW documents from their constituent
tiddlers, giving some interesting options for dual publication.

Thanks for sharing the latest alpha TW 5. It's really beautiful..

The more it is comforting that TW 2.6 development is continuing
simultaneously, so one could still use certain plugins which probably
aren't updated that soon, if at all, still be used for some time in a
classic TW.

Thanks to Eric.

Yes indeed, and hopefully we're now close to the release of the alpha
of 2.6.6, restarting TW classic development with a bit more vigour,

Many thanks,

TiddlyWiki5 itself will require HTML5 to fully function, and will only
run on reasonably modern browsers (hopefully IE9, definitely IE10, and
contemporary versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera).

It is possible to use TiddlyWiki5 to generate a static HTML
presentation that will work in any browser. This can be done as an
independent file, or embedded within the TiddlyWiki5 as fallback
content for older browsers.

Cheers

Yes, there's still a few problems with the zoomin theme. I'm in the
midst of a refactoring of the story and navigation code which should
sort things out.

[tw] New alpha of TiddlyWiki5

2012-06-22 Thread Jeremy Ruston
I've been remiss in not reporting progress on TiddlyWiki5 for a few
weeks. There’s a new alpha with some fun new features at a new URL:

http://alpha.tiddlywiki.com

It's for modern browsers - I generally use it with the Chrome Canary build,
which is their bleeding edge alpha version. (It is currently the only
browser to implement HTML5's 'download' attribute on the a element, which
TiddlyWiki5 uses for it's fallback saving mechanism).

The code is now getting to the point where the interactive features are
coming together: drop down menus, and the ability to switch between
different views of your tiddlers. Crucially, there is now a new wikitext
parser that generates proper HTML tags, and features new syntax for
transclusions.

Of course, the new features are all rather provisional, and I'd very much
appreciate feedback and thoughts. I've been making some good progress on
it, but documentation still slightly lags behind the code, so feel free to
ask any questions here.

I made a little video to demonstrate some of the new features on an iPad:

https://vimeo.com/44538974

Finally, I've recently taken over the TiddlyWiki twitter account, and will
be using it to give updates and news alongside the discussions in this
group.

Best wishes

Jeremy
