Thanks for your help. I think I got it now.

 Hi,

 3. Enter your prompt string for which you want to change the password
 4. Enter the password for the prompt string
 5. At this point, the tiddlywiki is decrypted and the password has
 been removed
 6. Save the tiddlywiki, entering a new password.
 7. The tiddlywiki now has a new password for the prompt string you
 entered.
 8. Refresh the tiddlywiki to confirm.

I guess an enhancement would be to have two password entry fields for
when a new password is being entered, to allow validation, otherwise,
 a typo could be disastrous.

2009-07-23 Thread shavinder

Thanks a lot for the Ubuntu One and Lastpass suggestion. I have
checked them out and will try them. I already have signed up for
Ubuntu One and received their invitation but my ubuntu is 8.04 and I
have to either upgrade or clean-install to 9.04. I have the 9.04 CD
ready and shall do it maybe this weekend.

Hi. I will have a look, though it sounds like a question for Lyall.

As a precaution I recommend that you make sure that you unencrypt all
your encrypted tiddlers first. (See the EncryptDecrypt tiddler, in
particular the Troubleshooting Note). You may do this by renaming the
special tiddler called Encrypt(TiddlyFolio) to Unencrypted. You can
reverse this later or again check the Encrypt box on each tiddler as
 needed.

FWIW I haven't been using TiddlyFolio for passwords all that much
 lately.

I keep my passwords online now using Lastpass (www.lastpass.com) which
 I recommend highly (blog
 post:http://wombatdiet.net/2009/06/16/lastpass-password-manager/).

I will probably drop support for TiddlySpot shortly because of
better / safer sync options: Dropbox and Ubuntu One for files and
Lastpass for individual records. TiddlyFolio is still useful for the
wallet records (credit card details etc.), passwords for e-banking and
other things that should be kept well away from the basket of web
passwords -- no point in a single key to absolutely everything.

It's possible to accidentally upload unencrypted passwords to
TiddlySpot; it doesn't use SSL for the xfr.

I'll update TiddlyFolio to TW 2.5.2 and see if it's a 1.0 release.
This is the first glitch reported for a long time. One thing I'd like
to make go away is the business of clicking Allow to enable writing
 to disk.

Forgot to add to the above that I am exporting lastpass passwords to a
TiddlyFolio tiddler -- as a means of backing up. Otherwise TiddlyFolio
contains passwords I do not want to sync with lastpass.
