It is because of a recent change in order to avoid counting the search
system tiddler. Comparing to core search tiddlers, you need a set widget:

It actually makes it easier to re-use the translation string X matches without it being tied to displaying the advanced search results. Let me know some context: In which TW version are you using it? Please note that the default configuration is to do nothing unless the search string is at least 4 characters long. How did you install the plugin? It is not displaying anything or it is just not highlighting ? Did you rebooted your TW after installing? Try to copy the example tiddler from braintest and see if it works there. Regards.
