[time-nuts] Lady Heather

2011-10-28 Thread Neville Michie
Hi, I have just been rather surprised to find Seattle co-ordinates
appearing in my Lady Heather window.
I, of course, eventually found that the latest version of John's
program is installed with a link to his TBolt.
My problem is how do you apply the /# command to look at particular
serial port# without having to open a DOS window
and write DOS commands? How do you set up shortcut icons on the
screen to activate a chosen implementation

of LH?
I seem to be able to manipulate the COM# numbers so that the USB to
Com converters find the right TBolt.

It is probably something very obvious that I am missing,
cheers,
Neville Michie

Perhaps take advantage of one of the numerous AM radio stations in the midwest
that happen to be about half way between?

After some initial calibration that should be repeatable.

None of them is in the 1977 TRW data book, European edition.
At that time, TRW swallowed Motorola Bordeaux. We then built 300W
shortwave amplifiers for an ultrasonic phased array
and TRW's development cycle was so fast that you couldn't get the
transistors any more when the data sheets were ready. :-(

Deep down in some moving box in this house are some wideband amplifiers
(relatively wideband) that contain some TRW transistors in TO-5 and
a gray plastic case with mounting screw and 4 radial leads, probably
PT-xyzzy
Can't promise anything, but I'll try to find them over this extended
weekend.

Antonio,

assumed that you use the built in phase comparator of a FS700 Stanford
Research Loran receiver: I do comparisons like that between the European
Loran C chain (Sylt station in my case) and my Z3805 on a regular base and
frequency differences as low as 2E-13 (for a 120 h comparison) to 6e-14 (for
longer comparisons) are absolutely not un-normal. Gives a good feeling for
how well the Loran's cesium clocks are tuned as well as the ones in the GPS
birds.

2011-10-28 Thread David C. Partridge
Just a short update to say I've only got two boards left.

I could get a new batch of 100 boards made. I will do this if there's enough
interest, but naturally don't wish to spend several thousand buying parts and
having boards made only to have them sit and moulder in pile in the corner of
my den!

I would need committed orders for at least 40 to 60 boards, and I would need to
spend a fair while costing parts to determine if I could maintain the current
price (UK VAT is now at 20% and it's scary how much a lot of parts have gone up
independently of the tax - not helped by the greed of shipping companies which
is getting extreme).
