Problems with mod_webapp. Please read!
Hi, I have successfully built Tomcat 3.x and mod_jk from source and gotten it to work perfectly. I've successfully built Tomcat 4.x. The problem is that I have not been able to get mod_webapp running successfully. I've tried every release from 4.0 to 4.01 to 4.02 with no success. The problem is that Apache disappears from memory as soon as it tries to initialize the webapp module. I have made all of the required configuration changes to httpd.conf including setting ServerName properly. I have run mod_webapp through the debugger and found that the entire memory space is obliterated as soon as mod_webapp initializes. I have posted multiple messages both to the tomcat-dev list and to the tomcat-user list and have received no helpful responses. I have noticed that others with similar troubles have also received no response. Is there anybody who has successfully built mod_webapp and gotten it to work properly? Are there any developers who read this list? There must be somebody out there who can help. It seems like a developer would be interested in my problem because it seems serious and it could help to make mod_webapp a better product. A helpful response would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Erik. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Tomcat 4 and mod_webapp
I've been experiencing problems running mod_webapp. I have built mod_webapp successfully, but I have a problem with Apache/mod_webapp diappearing after I start it. Problems building Tomcat.
Hello, I am new to Jakarta and Tomcat, and I am having trouble building Tomcat. I'm sure that this comes up on the list alot, so I don't mean to beat a dead horse here. I've looked through and read all of the FAQs, looked through newsgroup archives on DejaNews, printed out hundreds of pages of documentation from the http://jakarta.apache.org/ website, and read all of the readme files and install documents. What I experience building Jakarta does not correspond with the documentation. I'm trying to build Jakarta 3.2. I've successfully built a usable Ant. However, when I try to build jakarta-servletapi with the build.sh script, I get the following message. Exception in thread main java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/tools/ant/Main When I run ant with no arguments (assuming that it finds the build.xml flie), it appears to build ok. Is this normal? What is the correct way to build jakarta-servletapi? The docs say to run build.sh. When I try to build jakarta-tomcat from source, I get a similar error if I try build.sh, and when I try to build it with ant alone, I get tons of errors. I noted that previous versions of Tomcat included a taglib and a tools package. Where do I obtain these for the 3.2 release? They are not located in the directory at jakarta.apache.org where I found servletapi and tomcat. Is there a comprehensive source of documentation or a procedure for how to build this beast? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Erik.
