Hi all,

on my talk page, [[User:Pathoschild]] raised the idea of allowing
OpenID authentication to operate toolserver tools that currently rely
on TUSC. While I'd rather go for browserID [1] (not mutually
exclusive), it raised the point of which authentication is good
enough for using some toolserver tools, especially those that edit or
upload on Wiki(m|p)edia projects.

Would these non-TUSC accounts need to be linked to Wiki(m|p)edia user
names? If so, how would this be done? If Wiki(m|p)edia were to provide
openID/browserID authentication, it would be a non-issue, but as it
stands, this would need to be done on the toolserver in some form,
which would most likely be more cumbersome than the current TUSC
account creation.

Ideas?

Magnus

Well, Wikimedia should become OpenID/OAuth provider for that.

We had a talk on maps-l[1] to allow Wikipedians to edit easily
OpenStreetMap. So Wikimedia as OpenID/OAuth provider would be really nice.

[Toolserver-l] What happened to pagecounts stats?

2012-02-11 Thread Adam Klimont
Dear all,

Pagecounts files from http://dumps.wikimedia.org/other/pagecounts-raw/
used to be downloaded by a script automatically into
/mnt/user-store/stats until the end of last year. What happened to
that script? The latest pagecounts I can find there are from 20111231.
I could write a similar script but I do not think I have permissions
to write in /mnt/user-store/stats. Also, I found some pagecounts
stored in /mnt/user-store/johang - I think it would be better to store
them all in one place so that everyone can use them (unless johang has
a good reason to store them in his folder).

Best wishes
alkamid

I fixed that now (or more precise: it fixed itself through rebooting). The
problem it, that something on our HA-nodes consumes kernel-memory until there
is nothing left. We look where the problem is, but we can not guarantee that
it will not happen again.

Sincerly,
