Topband: SP Contest
Managed 12 NA QSOs just before out dawn but signals were way down on normal. Almost every contact asked for repeats. Richard G3OQT _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
Re: Topband: Stew Perry conditions noisy. Heard no EU here in Ohio.
Rate decent. Activity moderate during the evening hours I was on. Did work KH6, PJ2T and ZF. Not so much into 6/7/0 land. QRN was an issue. Jumped in around 0300z but heard no EU. Tried again pre SR 0900z but that was a slow go. Finished with 110 Qs in 3 hrs with 76 unique GS's. in 5 dx entities. Next time, need to get in there at the start. - _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
Re: Topband: Stew Perry 160 test this weekend
Steve, Here in Virginia although I made a few European contacts around 0300 the band didn't really open until their sunrise grayline around 0400 and was best for me around 0500. I only managed around 30 Europeans this year compared to 70 in Spring 2020 Stew. I share your observation about the level of activity but not the condition of the band. Lots of static and QSB made it much harder to get the 30 Europeans than the 70 in 2020! 73, Ken - K4XL On Sun, Mar 10, 2024 at 1:05 PM Steve Harrison wrote: > On 3/10/2024 5:27 AM, Roger Kennedy wrote: > > Well I think I spoke too soon . . . > > > > Although there was DX propagation, signals seemed well down this side of > the pond. > > > > Roger G3YRO > > I heard very few east coasters working Europe early last evening. Topband: DXpedition Beverage Termination
In reply to the question of DXpedition Beverage Termination, I would recommend termination when the operator can no longer copy or send 13 wpm CW. _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector

Roger G3YRO I heard very few east coasters working Europe early last evening. OTOH, we seemed to have great propagation between SoCal and all along the upper east coast; I was hearing and working whatever I could hear as much as 15 minutes BEFORE sunset from the desert, including FK09, FN64 and FN20! At that time (0145 - ~03Z), I heard only a few other westerners; it was as though most the other W6s were waiting until after dark before getting on. Static crashes? What static?? The band seemed abnormally quiet, to me. Unfortunately, I had to go away after 0430Z. But my impression was that activity was WAY down; there were kHz between CQers, so no adjacent CQing QRM that I heard, and NO activity above 1840 (at least, not until after 0430Z, when I left), and almost none below 1810.
