Yes, we are totally open for doing that (just to reply here as well as in
#34176). We won't have time to do so until October this year, though. But
I think we should get that on our agenda for October, in particular if
that helps to convince TPA to maintain the machines/OSes.

that constraint, but it doesn't seem like there is an opening there...

I think there is and we should try to avoid maintaining the machine/OS
outside of TPA if we can help it. While we don't have the time to work on
this until end of September, would a soft commit for October (this year
:)) work for you? (That is a soft commit to work on a fix for
#23631/#31996) We are in maintenance mode for Tor Browser and the you-
need-root-to-be-able-to-build-Tor-Browser-issue is high enough on our list
of things to fix, I think, to make maintenance easier. So this is fair
 game. What do you think?

From what I understand, the current build box at sunet is severely out of
date and not really maintained, so that is something that should be
 avoided in the future.

I totally agree. Hence my hope we can get that box under TPA maintenance
 as well.

Comment (by starlight):

I have a relay running vanilla scheduler (disabled KIST everywhere when I
noticed #29427 around the time it appeared) where the transfer rate maxes
at 2 mbyte per second now--even when when traffic is light and right after
a restart. Just noticed this; two years ago it could easily manage 5
mbyte/sec for a single connection even under moderately high load. Direct
'curl' downloads of same files on the system where the relay runs hit
 sustained 24 mbyte/sec.

Have logged bandwidth scanner votes for over two years and observe a sharp
and permanent Torflow ratio drop in Decemmber 2018. The system runs in
the central European Internet, has CDN grade connectivity.

Plan on investigating further by running old versions of tor in no-
publish-descriptor mode and repeating the experiments, but it's an
important issue and I opened the ticket after becoming convinced the
problem is real rather than waiting. If it proves out, this has
implications for the state of bandwidth measurements and load balancing in
 the network.

In #29427 KIST related transfer rate impairment shown in the graph is
huge. I am doubtful regarding the cost vs benefit of the feature.

this is a problem again: running out of space on nbg1.

the database is now at 63.2 GB. we have metrics since 2019-09-20, which
makes 234 days today. we have 78 hosts in LDAP, with a scrape interval of
1 minute, so this makes for about 2000 samples (not 1300 as originally
 guessed):

 {{{
 > 234d×1.3byte/(1min)×2000×78 to Gibyte
 63,642383 gibibytes

 we'd need 100GB to cover a year:

 {{{
 > 365d×1.3byte/(1min)×2000×78 to Gibyte
 99,271238 gibibytes
 }}}

i'll see if i can resize the server again this week.

this weekend the ganeti cluster had a partial outage: nodes were
reachable, but networking was broken on all instances.

this is, presumably, because of the Debian buster point release that
occured on saturday (!). last time this happened, weasel identified
openvswitch as the culprit, and hiro deployed a fix that would make it
survive such situations. but either something else came up or the fix
didn't work, because the problem happened again this weekend.

i fixed it by rebooting all nodes forcibly (without migrating first).

This option would be useful for containers and Docker.

A SOCKS5 unix socket could be created by Tor, converted in a listening
port by a port forwarder (HAProxy or Pen) and so could provide DNS to the
container with a SOCKS5 DNS Forwarder.

 Looks good!

BridgeDB reliably responds within a few seconds, so I think it's safe to
assume that if the response didn't come within 60 seconds, it won't come
 at all.
Ah okay, cool :) This sounds good then.

Oops thanks for clearing that up. I hadn't noticed the two different
 connection types.

 Looks good to merge!

Comment:

The script looks good to me. Some thoughts:
 - It's not super urgent in this case, but putting the email password in an
environment variable would allow us to not have it in the bash history
 - 60 seconds seems a bit fast for email. How about making this 5-10
minutes? I'm thinking in terms of reducing false positives plus being
realistic about our response time to the alert.
 - Is there a reason we're logging in twice (once at
 [https://github.com/NullHypothesis/bridgedb/compare/develop...enhancement/12802

Other than that, it looks good but I'll put it in needs_information

Ok. Pages can get reverted by track history without loosing formatting.
But take long time because of link limit can only revert 2 lines per page
 edit.

Comments can't restore but quote versions of track diff history. You find
comment history link underevery comment below the link DIFF last edited
ago if there was multilple edits you can go back in time by selecting
 previous.

If restore through quotes. Order of conversation. Get lost.

At least nothing really lost. Just hidden by first look.

Comment:

Obfs4 is only unmaintained insofar Yawning Angel does not want to maintain
it anymore. Since we ship obfs4 in Tor Browser, we obviously take
responsibility for the code and would implement bug fixes – even if that
means we would have to fork the repository.

That said, #30716 is about a work-in-progress improvement to obfs4.

I'm closing this ticket because the situation is not as dire as it may
 seem.

Comment (by ahf):

 Agreed on priority.

I think being given a folder somewhere where I can scp/sftp the static
files too would be mighty fine. It should just be with an SSH key that is
NOT the one I have in LDAP since I would have to automate this somehow.

 Would that be OK?

Awesome, thanks GeKo! We should be testing this with #34043. I can build
with these patches on top of that or wait until we merge it to test this.

thank you for taking care of this abuse. sad to see this is needed. but
 best choice atm.
''(excuse me, don't get tricked by my account name, I'm kind user. i
created this because my comments was edited)''

looks like cleaned offensive content cleared.
still there are a lot of changes of comments and trac wiki pages in past
 over weeks with interval increasing.

as the account now got disabled, i cannot log into it and revert this.
where or how to report? there is something around 100 comments affected 5
 pages.

shall i list them in a new ticket or here? would someone revert this
things? wiki page hard to revert because trac detect spam (limit exceeded)
if try to do so. comment only can revert by account of commenter and since
 account disabled, this not possible.

i have spotted at least those following:

Comment:

with everything that's going on right now, i don't think this should be a
 priority.

but maybe you could run the aggregator as a cronjob or systemd.timer on
one of the static sources and from there just sync to the static mirror
 network? would that be enough?

i also note that all "planet" aggregators are more or less unmaintained. i
did a review of those to see how to get out of the mess Planet Debian is
 in, here:

 https://wiki.debian.org/PlanetDebian#Venus_problems

it seems the only one that's still maintained is the "pluto" one written
in Ruby. But that's not packaged in Debian so you'd somehow need to deploy
it by hand, which will be problematic.

so i would push back on this gently, if i may, until we can get our heads
out of the water. in the meantime, let me know if a static site would work
 for you.

should TPA be involved in this process and help manage/maintain the OS?

Comment (by acute):

At the moment reprocessing does not support -s and -t as options, like the
analysis mode does. It would be very simple to change this in
reprocessing.py (although you could also change the interface help text to
indicate the arguments are not supported). Here are the analyze arguments
 in question:

   -s, --do-simple-parse
parse and export only summary statistics rather
 than full transfer/circuit/stream data (default:
 False)
-t, --torperf export transfer data in Torperf format in addition
 to OnionPerf format (default: False)

...At the moment tpf files are exported by default when reprocessing.

Other than that, this looks good and works as expected!
I realize the assumption for reprocessing was that a user would always
want to analyze all logs as pairs, perhaps in the future we could add
support for analyzing directories of log files of a single type (if it is
 needed).

Comment (by gk):

 `bug_33973_v6` (https://gitweb.torproject.org/user/gk/tor-browser-
 build.git/commit/?h=bug_33973_v6=2a5a929ccb804fdf3186a4017b2e9db77bb0d4c7)
has the fat .aar creation up for review. The patch is directly on top of
`bug_33626_v9`. Thus, the branch directly buildable pointing to acat's
 `33533+5` etc.

 `./rbm/rbm build geckoview --step merge_aars --target torbrowser-testbuild
--target torbrowser-android-all` is the test command one could use.

 build.git/commit/?h=bug_33801=23df4686e57b66f307aca48c9f1af8b073cd35ba)
with a slightly modified commit message and on top of my fenix_toolchain
 branch.
