Good news! As I was watching the Squeezebox closely I noticed it was counting down from 0:02 to 0:00 and then start the track (causing the skipped first beat). So I think I seem to have found the cause. These are rips I did a long time ago, probably done in Exact Audio Copy. Somehow the pregap ( index 00) is included in the encoded FLAC. The pregap is not translated well somewhere in the chain (apparently not an issue to the M-DAC). I'll try ripping those cd's again. This also explains why replacing the pregap silence with actual silence solves the problem. Now I only need to find out how to detect pregap in my 4Tb library and remove it. More expensive options is the 'JS-2' (https://uptoneaudio.com/products/js-2-linear-power-supply) from same company. Or the Paul Hynes supplys. But those I havent tried myself. Everything is FLAC, everything is connected via wire. No problems with my M-DAC or LA-100 (also both USB). For years I've used a Squeezebox with the Digital Output add on in combination with a Audiolab M-DAC, streaming from a QNAP TS-251 with the lastest LMS software (still do actually, in my bed room). I use the USB via hub workaround (M-DAC is 1.0). Three weeks ago I bought the HDACC II-4K, the DO add on recognized it as USB 2 (XCore) and it streams flawlessy except for one weird issue: for some songs it skips the beginning. Whenever song data starts relatively early, like in the first second (for instance World In My Eyes by Depeche Mode or Either Way by Wilco), the sound seems to fade in (so you miss the first beat). I have all (cross)fade options turned off, played around with start up delay, changed from USB to SPDIF and optical, but all to no avail. Sometimes it occurs, sometimes it doesn't. I already asked the builder of the HDACC, but is there some other setting in LMS or the Squeezebox I could check?
