Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] advice needed: Audiolab m-dac or m-dac plus with SBT?
I run my SBT via coax (without EDO) to an apparently well-thought-of DAC: TEAC UD-501. And I can't tell the difference between that and the onboard DAC. I also have the TEAC HA-501 headphone amp, fed via balanced XLR from the DAC, yet I also can't tell the difference between it, and plugging my headphones directly into the DAC. Why did I buy the DAC? Because it also functions as a pre-amp of sorts, into which I also run my Chromecast Audio, and my lappie. And the headphone amp? because I like TEAC and have always wanted one. Oh, and it says Class A. And they both look great. oh, and they were both cheap on eBay, second-hand but as new. I was lucky. Do I like having them? Enormously. Do they sound better? I dunno - don't think I can tell the difference, no. Snake oil? Not for me, because I know the reality, and accept I can't tell the difference... Did I say I like having them? :) cdmackay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105536 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

It wasn't hard to find, but I thought I would point it out anyway, having just found it myself. cdmackay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82648 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Linear Power Supplies
For those asking for a working link to John's schematic - if you Google search for the filename itself - SB_5V.GIF - you should find it, in a CA forum post. cdmackay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82648 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeezebox Touch replacement power adapter
A relatively safe alternative is to go to a reputable electronics supply store, e.g. Maplin in the UK, and buy one of their PSUs that come with a set of interchangeable heads. (Maplin often have them on offer). Of course, it has to be the correct voltage, and able to supply at least the same (or more) current as the original (5V DC, 3A for Touch). They are often cheaper than the original/OEM part, which can be expensive from these online suppliers, esp with shipping. cdmackay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104026 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeezebox Touch replacement power adapter
Here's one that I've bought a few of: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-36w-switched-mode-acdc-multi-voltage-worldwide-power-supply-l48bq it's often on sale for less than that, which makes it worth considering. It comes with heads including ones suitable for SBR Touch, and is powerful enough for the Touch. cdmackay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104026 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
