Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput
Hi redtom I see you're right. For example the Bel Canto 2Qute dac ... (the 2Qute is a Chord), and also the Benchmark 'mytek' dac is new to me :-?. P.S. I tried the RME Audio ADI-2 DAC FS and it didn't work. Probably needs a USB-hub between (not tested). /Claus cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94512 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Anything better than the SBT?
Hi celo First I thought about responding "define better" ... Better could also be usability, flexibility, versability. Carefully reading your post, I suppose you're happy with the Touch and actually you mean sound quality. The Touch is good enough for most purposes, but yes there's better sounding gear out there. Whether _you_ can hear a difference, well, nobody but yourself can answer that question. Others here in this thread mention the Raspberry Pi, combined with the software (operating system) piCorePlayer with the Squeezelite music player, and indeed this offers customization far beyond some of the commercially available options you're mentioning, and a better user interface (well, define better - in the end it's your perception). /Claus cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110060 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] installation de jivelite
The way to install Jivelite in piCorePlayer is to open a browser, enter the IP address of your player, which gives you the piCorePlayer web interface. Then go to the TWEAKS page. You install JiveLite with a puch of a button. It's that easy. https://www.picoreplayer.org/main_jivelite.shtml Cheers, Claus cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109992 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Dead
My Touch died - I was away for a couple of weeks, so I unplugged it. Now that I plugged it back into the wall, the display doesn't come up, and I can see a diode in the back that keeps blinking (and I also hear a bip sound that keeps repeating in my loudspeakers). I'll see if I can find another power supply for it. If anyone has any tips - to the specific error (diode and bip), please let me know. cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109430 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput
Hi garym Thanks for your input. It sounds pretty simple indeed. Does this mean that if I install the 3rd party applet, the Touch will work as normal? (What differences will I experience, except of course the obvious USB and 24/192 output). Re. your point 5: I'm am a skeptic about digital audio. The digital audio domain is developing heavily and we are finally seeing products that actually sounds good. At the moment it seems the best sounding implementations are using asynchronous USB (or I2S) interface. For me the Touch is not a high-fidelity audiophile product, but I wish it could be. This EDO applet + an external USB DAC could turn into a nice setup. P.S. I wrote about Streaming Audio a couple of years ago, see my homepage: http://www.cfuttrup.com/streamingaudio.html Best regards, Claus P.S. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Trying to fix time drift with EDO firmware
Hi pgeorges I've been irritated about the time drift on my Touch for a while ... during Easter I worked on in on-and-off. First hurdle was to install putty on the Windows 7 laptop computer. Second was to go into the Touch Settings - Advanced - and enable Remote Login ... the screen provides you with the password. Then right-click on Command Prompt icon and choose Run as Administrator ... just to be sure I have all the rights. Then remote access to the Touch - execute: putty -ssh root@192.168.1.135 (insert your own IP address here) You're prompted for a password. Use the password provided when remote access was enabled. Linux command ls doesn't work ... use ls -la ... first step from root-user directory into the / directory cd .. I see /usr/sbin/msntp is installed I execute /usr/sbin/msntp -r dk.pool.ntp.org (the dk is for Denmark, where I am located) # /usr/sbin/msntp -r dk.pool.ntp.org The time correction is -408.985 +/- 0.015+0.008 seconds Do you want to correct the time anyway? y # AS YOU CAN SEE ... msntp prompts for a reply. This could be your problem ... since you're executing from a cron job maybe msntp never receives a yes from you? /Claus cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98322 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
