Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

Hi redtom

I see you're right. For example the Bel Canto 2Qute dac ... (the 2Qute
is a Chord), and also the Benchmark 'mytek' dac is new to me :-?.

P.S. I tried the RME Audio ADI-2 DAC FS and it didn't work. Probably
needs a USB-hub between (not tested).

Is there a way we could check all the plugins and maybe create a list of

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Anything better than the SBT?

2019-01-21 Thread cfuttrup

Hi celo

First I thought about responding "define better" ... Better could also
be usability, flexibility, versability.

Carefully reading your post, I suppose you're happy with the Touch and
actually you mean sound quality. The Touch is good enough for most
purposes, but yes there's better sounding gear out there. Whether _you_
can hear a difference, well, nobody but yourself can answer that
question.

Others here in this thread mention the Raspberry Pi, combined with the
software (operating system) piCorePlayer with the Squeezelite music
player, and indeed this offers customization far beyond some of the
commercially available options you're mentioning, and a better user
interface (well, define better - in the end it's your perception).

The way to install Jivelite in piCorePlayer is to open a browser, enter
the IP address of your player, which gives you the piCorePlayer web
interface. Then go to the TWEAKS page. You install JiveLite with a puch
of a button. It's that easy.

My Touch died - I was away for a couple of weeks, so I unplugged it. Now
that I plugged it back into the wall, the display doesn't come up, and I
can see a diode in the back that keeps blinking (and I also hear a bip
sound that keeps repeating in my loudspeakers). I'll see if I can find
another power supply for it. If anyone has any tips - to the specific
error (diode and bip), please let me know.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Henry Audio USB DAC

2018-01-14 Thread cfuttrup

Hi there

I have a SB Touch and am contemplating to use the USB output to connect
with a DAC - to improve sound quality.

One such DAC could be Henry: https://www.henryaudio.no/

This DAC is said to work with computers (Win, Mac, Linux). Does anyone
know if this DAC would work with the Touch directly?

Hi 2string1

I'm sorry about your bad experience with Wellborne Labs.

My experience is old by now, but positive. You can read more here:

I chose "tracking" to see when the package went into the mail. Did you
ask for shipment with tracking?

How much time have you waited?

Is your shipment within the US, or international?

BTW, above link also gives a tip on what to do if you really have a
problem - contact "Internet Crime Complaint Center" - a link is provided
a few lines above ...

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

2013-04-03 Thread cfuttrup

Hi garym

Thanks for your input. It sounds pretty simple indeed.

Does this mean that if I install the 3rd party applet, the Touch will
work as normal? (What differences will I experience, except of course
the obvious USB and 24/192 output).

Re. your point 5: I'm am a skeptic about digital audio. The digital
audio domain is developing heavily and we are finally seeing products
that actually sounds good. At the moment it seems the best sounding
implementations are using asynchronous USB (or I2S) interface. For me
the Touch is not a high-fidelity audiophile product, but I wish it could
be. This EDO applet + an external USB DAC could turn into a nice setup.

P.S. I wrote about Streaming Audio a couple of years ago, see my
homepage: http://www.cfuttrup.com/streamingaudio.html

Best regards,
Claus

P.S. I have worked for Scan-Speak as RD engineer a total of 7 years,
and now RD manager for 5 years.

way ... right you are ... somewhere the time is wrong by 6-7 minutes.
When I view the time in for example the application Surveillance

wrong. I didn't know this was even possible.

That didn't work (adding a new line to the root crontab) ... rebooting
the device didn't either.

Hi Mnyb

Fair questions. I'm running LMS from a NAS:

NAS: Synology Diskstation413
Running LMS 7.7.2 - r33893

Router time is good
NAS time is good
Laptop computer time is good
... Only the Touch is wrong.

Is the Touch reading from LMS from my NAS or is there some other
time-setup on LMS that needs to be configured?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] NTP on the Touch

2013-04-03 Thread cfuttrup

Just so that future readers of this thread can be helped in the best
possible way.
For the latest setups NTP is already installed in the Touch.

I have:
Player Model: Squeezebox Touch
Firmware: 7.7.2-r9663

On the Squeezebox Touch
Go into settings - advanced on the Touch itself and re-enable remote
login
Notice the password provided to you

Run putty -ssh root@squeezebox (where squeezebox = IP address in your
setup)
Enter the provided password

NTP is already installed ... type ls -la /usr/sbin/m*
There's msntp ...
You can (directly) execute /usr/sbin/msntp -r pool.ntp.org
The device time is updated.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Trying to fix time drift with EDO firmware

2013-04-03 Thread cfuttrup

Hi pgeorges

I've been irritated about the time drift on my Touch for a while ...
during Easter I worked on in on-and-off.

First hurdle was to install putty on the Windows 7 laptop computer.
Second was to go into the Touch Settings - Advanced - and enable Remote
Login ... the screen provides you with the password.
Then right-click on Command Prompt icon and choose Run as Administrator
... just to be sure I have all the rights.
Then remote access to the Touch - execute: putty -ssh root@192.168.1.135
(insert your own IP address here)
You're prompted for a password. Use the password provided when remote
access was enabled.

Linux command ls doesn't work ... use ls -la ... first step from
root-user directory into the / directory cd ..

I see /usr/sbin/msntp is installed

I execute /usr/sbin/msntp -r dk.pool.ntp.org (the dk is for Denmark,
where I am located)
# /usr/sbin/msntp -r dk.pool.ntp.org
The time correction is -408.985 +/- 0.015+0.008 seconds
Do you want to correct the time anyway? y
#

AS YOU CAN SEE ... msntp prompts for a reply. This could be your problem
... since you're executing from a cron job maybe msntp never receives a
yes from you?
