The WIKI advice is for users who don't use an installer - AFAIK deb file
set up things like userids

It is not all bad. The re-install proved the issue is not due to
installation or LMS version so there is no point in doing a new or
reinstallation.

Take a break. Leave it for a day and in the meantime I'll try to think
of things to test to pinpoint the problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Problem with the radio on local

2019-04-10 Thread knarf

I've not try this.

Now, strange fact...

I explain

do a APT PURGE LOGITECHMEDIASERVER*

I've remove ALL files, groups and users used by LMS, searching where
there are (looking with some progs and WEBMIN)

reboot the computer.

do a SUDO DPKG -I LOGITECHMEDIASERVER_7.9.1_amd64.deb

test with Service and STATUS

Code:

knarf@stockage:~$ sudo service logitechmediaserver status
logitechmediaserver.service - LSB: Startup script for the Logitech
Media Server
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver; generated; vendor preset:
enabled)

Server.
avr 10 22:39:44 stockage systemd[1]: Started LSB: Startup script for the
Logitech Media Server.

do a stop and start (try to see) and a status. same results shown above

I don't create accounts like the WIKI

Code:

 After the installation process:
  Users and Groups

The installation adds a new user (squeezeboxserver) to your system - that
runs all the tools/scripts from logitechmediaserver.

If you want to use the localplayer plugin you have to add the User
squeezeboxserver to the group audio - otherwise the squeezelite session behind
the localplayer couldnt play your files.

  sudo usermod -aG audio squeezeboxserver

  using local Mediafolders

If your media files are hosted on the same System you runing
Logitechmediaserver - you should use a group to give folder & file permissions
to the path of your mediafiles. eg - (using a group called lms and
your.username is your.username)

  sudo addgroup lms
  sudo usermod -aG lms squeezeboxserver
  sudo usermod -aG audio your.username

Then you need to set the folder permissions

  sudo chown -R your.username:lms /

try to connect on local localhost:9000

Code:

Etat du Logitech Media Server
  Logitech Media Server Version : 7.9.1 - 1522157629 @ Fri Mar 30 12:25:29 CEST

  Audio::Scan : 0.95
Version de la base de données : DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
  Platines identifiées : 0

IT WORKS

I leave the server, for a while (scanning on audiofiles)

Code:

  Détection des fichiers/répertoires : /media/knarf/Stock/Partages/Music
(70798 de 70798) Terminé 00:00:15

Analyse des nouveaux fichiers musicaux : /media/knarf/Stock/Partages/Music

And Toodlepip! The Complete Singles (2CD)/CD1/06 Teenager In Love - I've Got

When he stop to analyse, I'll try to reconnect the SqueezeboxTouch with
the server

I tell you

This is what my normal Ubuntu x86 LMS (from github) with -D_startup
looks like. How does it compare to your output ?

Code:

  mylms@minitower:/mnt/hddrive/home/mylms/repos/7.9/latest/trunk$
./slimserver.pl -d_startup
Found SELinux - setting security context to: texrel_shlib_t for *.so files.
  Got @INC containing:
  /mnt/hddrive/home/mylms/repos/7.9/latest/trunk
  /etc/perl
  /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.26.1

  /usr/share/perl/5.26

Why to give extra info if it is the same issue?

Tar ball do the same

I don't know Debian but perhaps there is something odd in the
installation process that others can comment.
I presume you are using the X64 deb file.
Have you tried using the Unix tar ball. It'll be more work but perhaps
the deb is doing things (e.g. permissions, shell scripts) that don't
work well with your system.

LMS startup can be delayed if LMS communication to mysqueezebox and
other internet services (depends on the plugins installed) fail (which
is your original problem).

If comms failure is reason why no response to WebGUI, if you wait ,
timeout should happen and WebGUI will come back to life.

Enabling "d_startup" on the command line options (I can't remember how
to do this with SLIMOPTIONS) will give more verbose LMS startup and
should show where LMS "stops".

Check if port 9000 is "listening" if port 9000 is busy when LMS starts,
it will try to use 9001, 9002 etc until it find a free port.

Code:

  netstat -t -l -e

Ports 3483, 9000 and 9090 should be "listening" if LMS is running.

Older versions of LMS used OpenDNS but I checked current version uses
the host DNS server.

DNS operation by LMS can be checked by enabling logging of
network.asyncdns to DEBUG

I'm not too familiar with AppArmor and whether it or something like is
installed on the problem system but it could restrict LMS on a per
application basis.

Otherwise - I still advise checking whether outgoing connections are
seen by the firewall. If they are seen at the firewall then the issue
is NOT the LMS system.

My summary understanding of the issue.

The user has a Touch and a LMS server on the same LAN.
The Touch when connected to mysqueezebox.com can play internet radio.
The Touch when connected to LMS cannot play internet radio.
LMS server has static IP setup but Touch has a DHCP setup.
Both Touch and LMS server have the same gateway IP address - that of the
user firewall appliance.
Touch can play local music off LMS server.
The log file of LMS server shows failed connections to mysqueezebox.com
and firmware downloads.

Since LMS cannot make connection to internet radio - it looks like an
issue with LKMS not being able to connect to internet.

The setup used to work (i.e. Touch connected to LMS can play internet
radio) but has recently failed. Nothing has changed between working and
failure.

If firewall is OK - The issue is either DNS resolution or LMS request to
internet are not "correct" or cannot find their way to internet
gateway.

9090 is only for CLI (command line - control) and again it is an inwards
port. Nothing to so with playing or outgoing connections.

If you looked at firewall log - would you be able to see the outgoing
connection to the internet from LMS and check to see they are correctly
formed (i.e. name resolved, destination IP address OK) ?

But, i haven’t change anything on the firewall. If worked before, and

I’ve scanned the ports when LMS is running, and i have the 9090 open.

If OP removes firewall then they'll have to reconfigure LMS (as it is
statically setup), router (to enable DNS and maybe DHCP server) and
reboot players so I think that is a last resort.

The only device affected is the LMS system so the blockage is in either
the LMS system network setup or something in the firewall is blocking
the LMS system

The firewall should have logging capability so that if it is blocking
LMS system - it should report when it blocks an outgoing connection. So
I think two pronged approach: check network setup of LMS system and look
at firewall log for blocking.

If the firewall is a separate piece of hardware I'd temporarily remove
it from the network, then reboot LMS host computer. Seems the only way
to determine if firewall device is the issue. Obviously something
unique to your network is preventing LMS from properly connecting to the
internet or MySB.com.

I know the firewall is the local DNS server. But since the settings on
the LMS server are static, are the DNS setting correct ? need to check
everything to eliminate it. Other users have made errors.

The DNS is provided by the firewall (it provide Dns, dhcp, port
forwarding, anti-virus...)

AFAIK LMS now uses the system provided DNS server address. IIRC Older

Since both have same IP gateway address on same LAN segment - both
should work. So next thing that can stop connection to internet is DNS
settings. What is LMS system DNS setting ?

BTW is the firewall a separate piece of hardware with two ethernet

OK - so since both LMS and Touch are on the same LAN segment they

That helps - as Touch can reach internet, what does the Touch report as

Here you have a simplified draw from my network.

I just forgot, on the server where is LMS installed, there is 2 VM.

I’ll try to shutdown the VM, and try again.

I tell you on the issue

When a player uses mysqueezebox.com - the player "talks" to the internet
directly without any help from local LMS.

So the issue with the LMS system as I assume the player is wholly
separate system with its own IP address etc. set up by DHCP. The fact
the player work is irrelevant unless it is a squeezelite player running
on the same PC as LMS.

Code changes between 7.9.1 and 7.9.2 will not fix this problem. If it
does get fixed then it is because of re-installation of LMS
(e.g.depends on firewall set up perhaps LMS was a trusted application
and has been dis-allowed to access internet)

If the problem is with the firewall - logging will show up the problem.
Either way firewall logging will probably show whether the firewall is
the problem or not and a way to eliminate a possible cause of the
problem. Changing LMS is not way to solve a problem just hide it until
it shows again next time,

The firewall is open for all inside my network, but close for what is
not requested from outside.

I explain: the router can’t redirect and can’t be use like a firewall,
but like a DMZ. All connections are redirected on the firewall, and it
replace all the requests on the machines inside my network.

But now, the question is: why before it worked, and now not? I haven’t
change anything on the firewall. I’ve add a virtual machine on a server
and it worked fine too.

Now, i’ve found the 7.9.2. I’ll try to install it and we will see (not
now, but this night)

For the ports, dont worry, i know my job
, only the necessary is open, about some
works

The firewall redirect all (it is the gateway). If it is down, nothing
work.

Server ip, x.x.254.11
Gateway, x.x.254.1
Netmask for all the network, 255.255.255.0

For other stuffs, i need to access to my network, and im not at

Connecting to Port 9000 is *INTO* LMS and so LMS does not have to route
the connection. The problem is when LMS has to make a connection *OUT*
to internet - not a firewall issue, a routing issue..

*DO NOT OPEN PORTS ON ROUTER - YOU WILL HAVE SECURITY PROBLEMS AND

Static IP, for the servers, and the others (like mobiles, laptops and
touch’s) in DHCP.
A firewall who gives the IP to all my network
All in Gbps (the touch are in 100mbps)

Do i open a port in the firewall? I’ve tryed the 9000, but still the

port conflit? Nop, all are ok. I've opened the 9000 from outside to try,

I've tryed with TUNEIN, and same problem. If the touch is sync with the

MYSQUEEZEBOX.COM, but not when the touch is connected to LMS

The firmware was correctly installed on the touch, reverified now.

I've restarted LMS several times (10x in 2 hours). rebooted all (router,
switchs, the servers too)

and now, can we say, the problem is on the LMS? is there a backport to
open on the firewall, or other things?
