[Touch-packages] [Bug 1391807] [NEW] glib trash operates in wrong way, working with overlayfs
Public bug reported: hi RD QA team, I find in xubuntu livecd mode (try without installing xubuntu), if I delete a file on the desktop, xubuntu raises a dialog says Unable to find or create trash directory. But it's ok to delete a directory on the desktop. I follow the above error message in glib, and it goes to the function g_local_file_trash() in gio/glocalfile.c. I notice this line if (file_stat.st_dev == home_stat.st_dev). If it's true, glib thinks the file to be deleted is a file on the save disk with the user home directory, and creates the correct and well-known trash directory ~/.local/share/Trash, then everything would go fine. If it's false, glib treats the file to be deleted as on external disk, say, usb driver, where there should be a .Trash-uid directory on the external device. Unfortunately, the situation I stated in the first paragraph goes to the false section of the if clause, because the file to be deleted on the desktop is an overlayfs-ed file. In kernel documentation we can read: While directories will report an st_dev from the overlay-filesystem, all non-directory objects will report an st_dev from the lower or upper filesystem that is providing the object. So I write a C program to get the stat for some files and directories as follows: path type st_dev ~/Desktop/1.jpgfile 2050 ~/Desktop/test/1.jgp file 2050 /etc/fstab file 2050 ~/Desktop/test/ dir 17 /home dir 17 /home/mytestuser dir17 /etc dir17 As we can see, files share the same st_dev, while directoires share another st_dev. The reason for this in xubuntu livecd mode is, that livecd runs with overlayfs upon squashfs image. Every file the user sees is in the upper or lower file system while every directory the user sees is in the overlayfs file system. The 2 file system have different st_dev number. Now I think it's clear for the trash problem for glib with overlayfs. glib thinks a file is on the different device than user home directory, so glib is going to create .Trash-uid directory on the overlayfs file system which is /. But obviously the user has no permission to create folder in /. Therefore error occurs. Any solution or workaround before glib gives patch? Many thanks! ** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1391807 Title: glib trash operates in wrong way, working with overlayfs Status in “glib2.0” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: hi RD QA team, I find in xubuntu livecd mode (try without installing xubuntu), if I delete a file on the desktop, xubuntu raises a dialog says Unable to find or create trash directory. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1357321] Re: [TOPBLOCKER] QNetworkAccessManager doesn't support roaming on Ubuntu
.cache/unity8-dash should be enough to remove, after which one can go to Video scope and pull down to refresh to test whether download works. My mako PIN dialog problem is bug #1376250 (happens on mako only) and can be workarounded via system settings - security. The wifi being simply powered on is not the key - if not connected to a wifi network, 3G keeps reconnecting. The only way for a stable 3G connection with the PPA is to have wifi connecting to a network on boot, after which the wifi can be disabled to use 3G only with the original bug fixed. Driver being the problem was suggested, but since this happens on both mako and krillin it's not likely. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357321 Title: [TOPBLOCKER] QNetworkAccessManager doesn't support roaming on Ubuntu Status in Platform API: In Progress Status in The Savilerow project: New Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “ofono” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “qtbase-opensource-src” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: scope images load fine in wifi, but not on hsdpa even when there is good connectivity and browsing works well. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1391811] [NEW] glib trash operates in wrong way, working with overlayfs
Public bug reported: hi RD QA team, (this is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/1391807, because I don't know the bug should be report to ubuntu or glib.) I find in xubuntu livecd mode (try without installing xubuntu), if I delete a file on the desktop, xubuntu raises a dialog says Unable to find or create trash directory. So I write a C program to get the stat for some files and directories as follows: path type st_dev ~/Desktop/1.jpg file 2050 ~/Desktop/test/1.jgp file 2050 /etc/fstab file 2050 ~/Desktop/test/ dir 17 /home dir 17 /home/mytestuser dir 17 /etc dir 17 As we can see, files share the same st_dev, while directoires share another st_dev. ** Affects: glib2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1391811 Title: glib trash operates in wrong way, working with overlayfs Status in “glib2.0” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: hi RD QA team, (this is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/1391807, because I don't know the bug should be report to ubuntu or glib.) If it's false, glib treats the file to be deleted as on external disk, say, usb driver, where there should be a .Trash-uid directory on the external device. You can't override other errors anyway, and for subframes and subresources it is fine to just block the content (this is how Chrome and Firefox behave). - When accepting an error, the certificate fingerprint seems to be whitelisted by the browser. This is not safe - what happens if the user navigates to a genuinely malicious site that happens to use the same certificate? If you want to whitelist them, you must also record the domain that the error originated from and the error code, and only automatically allow the error if the domain + error code + fingerprints match - When accepting an error, there is no visual cue in the header bar that you're on a site with security errors. - If you press the stop icon in the addressbar whilst the certificate error UI is displayed, the pending navigation is cancelled (returning to the previous committed navigation), but the certificate error UI is not removed. There is a CertificateError.cancelled signal for this purpose - I'm not sure if you're using it or not - There doesn't seem to be any indicator when you go to a site that has an EV certificate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/webbrowser-app/+bug/1377194/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389300] Re: Display frozen during sleep
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1389300 Title: Display frozen during sleep Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When the computer goes to sleep, it freezes to a black screen with a single text cursor frozen (not blinking.). If I try to go to TTY1, it goes there, but upon entering my user name, it freezes and doesn't do anything. This happened since I got a mysterious Ubuntu 14.10 update. (It didn't ask me if I wanted to update, it just popped up saying I needed to reboot my computer, and I couldn't find any records as to what update it actually was). I have tried both Xubuntu (what I'm using now) and regular Ubuntu, both are doing the same thing. Sleep mode used to work just fine since 13.10, now it's broken. This is a laptop and needs sleep mode to work, as I can't sit there waiting for the machine to boot every time. Console logging this early in the boot should be trivial via /dev/kmsg, if nothing else? The problem seems fixes itself if you run restart indicator-sound, so maybe there's an issue with i-sound and unity-notifications starting at the same time, with the former querying the latter's capabilities before it's ready for business? I've searched google, forums, found a couple of relevant links that point to the issue being the Intel drivers. http://askubuntu.com/questions/53962...E2%86%92-14-10 http://www.webupd8.org/2014/10/ubunt...ent-1652086424 But the drivers currently in 14.10 should be newer than those supplied by Intel to 14.04 so that doesn't make sense to me. As one Intel developer wrote: I would like to point out that since what we do is bring more ecent versions of the software to the target distributions than they ship with, a 14.04 targeted installer is unlikely to bring much to a 14.10 installation, which most likely has the same or more recent versions already anyway. At step 4 we can tap on the phone icon in the missed call notification to get the same effect, it appears to be functionally equivalent to the Call Back button ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu RTM 14.09 Package: indicator-messages 13.10.1+14.10.20141007-0ubuntu1 Uname: Linux 3.4.67 armv7l ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8 Architecture: armhf Date: Wed Nov 12 14:50:42 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-11-12 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu Utopic Unicorn (development branch) - armhf (20141112-030205) SourcePackage: indicator-messages UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1391909/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1384286] Re: add directory allowing scopes and apps to share data
Ah, OK, it seems the penny is finally dropping :-) So, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that @{HOME}/.local/share/unity-scopes/leaf-net/@{APP_PKGNAME}/* is the writable cache directory for the scope (exactly as it is now), and @{HOME}/.local/share/@{APP_PKGNAME}/* is the readable directory where the scope can read data produced by the app? I think we can do this. In practice, this would mean adding an app_directory() method to the scopes API that returns the path to the readable directory that a scope can use to pick up data from the app. There are some doc implications, but it's doable. I take it that the readable directory would not be applicable to scopes that do *not* install together with an app in the same click package? (We would throw an exception if a scope doesn't have an associated app and tries to get the directory name.) Now, if I have this picture correct, it implies that a scope can read from an app, but an app cannot read from a scope. Is that what we want? If so, I think I'm good with this. (I haven't implemented anything yet, so there are the usual caveats. But, off-hand, I don't see a show- stopper.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1384286 Title: add directory allowing scopes and apps to share data Status in “apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in “click-reviewers-tools” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in “unity-scopes-api” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: Summary says it all, just need to decide on the directory.
