[Touch-packages] [Bug 1352251] Re: Splash screen is shown as soon as QGuiApplication is instantiated
This bug is still valid: while all the UI interactions involving trust sessions are working fine (there is no splash screen -- as I believe is correct), there are still cases where the Online Accounts UI is not invoked within a trust session, and that's typically when the client process is not a GUI application. This is the case of scopes and some system services (sync-monitor, and maybe telepathy in the future). As I wrote in comment #1, many times even if the OAuth access token is expired, the cookies are still valid and we might be able to get a new access token without showing a web page. But we cannot know this in advance: we'll know it only after loading a webview (and Oxide requires a QGuiApplication) which we'll keep hidden until either we get redirected to the page where we get the access token (in which case the user will not see any UI at all) or until it's clear that we cannot proceed without the user interaction, in which case we can either show a snap decision or just return an error to the client. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1352251 Title: Splash screen is shown as soon as QGuiApplication is instantiated Status in Qt integration with the Mir display server: Confirmed Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu RTM: Confirmed Bug description: On the phone, a splash screen is shown as soon as QGuiApplication is instantiated; however, a QWindow might be created much later, or not be created at all. We have for example a D-Bus service (ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts) which is a QGuiApplication, but creates QWindows only as client requests arrive. In the common case, this works fine because the service is generally started when a window needs to be displayed, but we are now preparing for implementing trust session support, and that would require either this bug to be fixed, or a deeper refactoring of our code. It has permissions/mode 0777 (rwx for all). This makes the directory very vulnerable to tampering. Although it may be possible to repair damage to this directory externally if the system becomes unbootable due to such damage, having to do this is undesirable and usually not easy for most users. Distributions other than Ubuntu may also be having this issue, I have not checked, but some distributions enable secure permissions by default (e.g., Fedora). One (or maybe the only) reason for the default configuration being the way it is may be that the EFI partition uses a FAT file system. However, enabling a umask through /etc/fstab as in Fedora, e.g., umask=0077, should make it much more secure. Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn (x86_64/amd64) Expected default configuration:- A critical system directory such as /boot/efi should be inaccessible to non-root users by default. Actual default configuration:- The EFI directory /boot/efi is accessible to all users irrespective of the user account's privileges (permission mode 0777/rwxrwxrwx). Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1395994] [NEW] UI lags when scrolling through favorited scopes
2. ResultsModel::data() seems to be called constantly while scrolling a scope up and down. I assume this should only be called once per result item (This doesn't explain the horizontal scrolling lag, but it may explain some vertical lag). That's not exactly right. It will be called for every role*every result that a delegate is created for. Delegates are recycled and created as they go out and into view, respectively. *If* it's called on the same result and same role multiple times, while the result is constantly in view, that'd be a problem indeed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1395994 Title: UI lags when scrolling through scopes Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Some causes ruled out: 1. OA in scopes can't be to blame as I have tested with and without it enabled, and with and without it present in the code (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scopes- api/+bug/1392615/comments/4). 2. Location can't be blamed either (for the same reasons as above, as well as removing location service usage from the shell plugin itself). 3. When profiling the QML and C++ code, I saw no indication that the shell plugin was doing anything process intensive enough to cause any hold up. In fact, it seems to be doing a pretty good job handling calls from the UI thread asynchronously. Observations made when profiling unity8: 1. The QML ListView component updates its current item index when the next item reaches half-way across the screen (therefore, in mid animation between scopes). There doesn't look to be any serious blocking actions taking place during the onIsCurrentChange, setActive, etc. methods that I could find, but we should keep this in mind. 2. ResultsModel::data() seems to be called constantly while scrolling a scope up and down. I assume this should only be called once per result item (This doesn't explain the horizontal scrolling lag, but it may explain some vertical lag). 3. If you pull down to refresh any scope, then continuously move the dash left and right, the dash movement is smooth until results start showing up in the scope, at which point you see a lag as they appear. The lag observed here is almost definitely the same lag we see when scrolling through scopes (jittering as results start to pop up in scopes as they populate). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1373808] Re: [UX301LAA, Realtek ALC282, Black Headphone Out, Left] Microphone problem
Problem persists on 14.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1373808 Title: [UX301LAA, Realtek ALC282, Black Headphone Out, Left] Microphone problem Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I asked my question on askubuntu.com, and it was suggested that my problem was a bug, so reporting here. According to the specs (http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_ZENBOOK_UX301LA/specifications/), my laptop has a Microphone-in/Headphone-out jack. I also have two different headsets, both of which works just fine as a headset when used with my phone. However, Ubuntu doesn't appear to recognize the headset as having a microphone. Under Sound and the Output tab, the only item listed changes from Speakers Built-in Audio to Headphones Built-in Audio when connected. The input tab shows no reaction at all to the headset being connected. It lists Microphone Build-in Audio and Analog input Built-in Audio. Both the input options clearly take audio from the computers built in microphone, rather the headsets. Tapping the laptop gives large spikes on the Input level indicator, while tapping the microphone on the headset gives little to no response. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1387207] Re: [greeter] strange persistant Enter SIM1 PIN dialog on Greeter
the interesting part is that the full dialog was not shown. Even if i-network would have crashed after requesting the dialog, unity8 still should load it and show it fully. Then again, the dialog would not do anything if i-network is dead, so the notification-service (unity8) should monitor the snap-decision invokers and automatically clean up any snap decisions from a d-bus unique name that loses it's owner. ** Changed in: indicator-network (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity-notifications in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1387207 Title: [greeter] strange persistant Enter SIM1 PIN dialog on Greeter Status in Ubuntu UX bugs: Triaged Status in “indicator-network” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in “unity-notifications” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu RTM: New Bug description: Build r133 Krillin I'm not entirely sure how to reproduce this bug but I try to sum up the conditions and how the phone was set up before. 1. Make sure both SIM cards are inserted 2. SIM1 is locked 3. reboot device 4 skip SIM PIN entry When skipping the SIM PIN entry screen, you can see a small glitch on the top of the screen. It looks like a dialog/snap but it disappears very quickly. Now, I had my device locked for a while and when I unlocked it via the hard key button a snap decision appeared on top of the greeter saying Enter SIM PIN1. It is possible to swipe away the greeter screen but then this is it. You are basically stuck. I managed as well to pull down the notifications menu but the snap stayed on top of that. It looks like there is there passcode screen in the background and if you want to return back to the greeter you have to lock/unlock the device with the hard key button. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1383855] Re: Inconsistent icons across reboot

I don't think the cog is a very significative icon to convey any meaning of status for a network; it's more likely to be more significant to users to display a no-signal icon when we're in a state where there is no other icon to display (given that indicators need to have an icon set). 0.png shows my device before rebooting; after disabling wifi. 1.png shows my device after rebooting. WiFi - 3G - WiFi ). Both scenarios were reproduced on mako. Scenario 1: 3G: online WiFi: enabled; connected to AP 1 - display network menu - tap another secure network - tap cancel when Password dialog is displayed At this point the indicator shows '3G' whereas the network menu still shows the original AP 1 as connected. After some period of time ( 10s - 1m ), the icon will change back to show that WiFi is connected. Scenario 2: 3G: online WiFi: connected to AP 1 - go to System Settings::WiFi - click Previous Networks - select the currently connected AP/network - click Forget Network - go back to WiFi settings The WiFi settings correctly shows the AP is no longer connected, however again the network icon takes some time ( 10s - 1m ) to reflect the change back to 3G. In short, making a hospital work with an app that is in phones, tablets and desktops. This would require a secure connection and, in some (not to say many) countries, VPN is needed since HTTPS or other secure protocols are not supported, but VPN is used in hospitals as the secure system. Since there is no VPN support, this app will not be ready to function in a place where only VPN is supported. This is one of the reasons I think VPN support is important, since there are applications that require it to be international and secure, and, without it, this internationalitation would be limited to the country's possibilities. A device might have no data connection because: (a) it is in Flight Mode, or (b) Wi-Fi is otherwise turned off, or (c) there is no cellular data connection, because: - the device has no SIM, or - it is not connected to a carrier, or - cellular data is turned off, or - the carrier is refusing data traffic (for example, because you are over quota), or - it is roaming and data roaming is turned off. (This list is not necessarily complete.) In cases where immediate connectivity is not vital, an app might detect that it is not available, and use queued actions or placeholders. For example, a mail client might store offline messages that you wanted to send, remember which messages you wanted to delete and file, and so on. Similarly, a Dash screen that usually returns online search results might show only offline results, with some sort of indication that you need to go online for online results to appear. But where an action absolutely requires connectivity to be useful, Ubuntu should provide some sort of standard UI explaining why you are offline and, where possible, explaining what to do to go online. If this message is modal, probably it should be limited so that it does not appear more than once before an app is unfocused (whether by focusing a different app, or the phone locking), and so it does not appear more than once every five minutes or so. The design should take into account the Wi-Fi prompt (bug 1287210), so that there aren't two prompts jostling each other. Location can't be blamed either (for the same reasons as above, as well as removing location service usage from the shell plugin itself). 3. When profiling the QML and C++ code, I saw no indication that the shell plugin was doing anything process intensive enough to cause any hold up. The lag observed here is almost definitely the same lag we see when scrolling through scopes (jittering as results start to pop up in scopes as they populate). Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1395994] Re: UI lags when scrolling through scopes
SORRY!! I overlooked the result is constantly in view predicate. However, why recycle them out of view? Saving memory, imagine having 1 results above what you're looking at. Will this security vulnerability get fixed at all? I realize that the impact is pretty small, because someone would have to explicitly use the gzip binary provided with klibc. I have just looked at whether gzip can be replaced by BSD compress(1), which is a drop-in replacement under a more free licence, but even after adding fts and a lot of BSD functions it still needs funopen() which klibc doesn’t have ☹ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to klibc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1358762 Title: Included gzip 1.2.4 has several vulnerabilities Status in “klibc” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The included gzip version is quite old (version 1.2.4) and has several security vulnerabilities. Public bug reported: Exposing a 2D scale vector and a 2D translation vector would allow the user to put the image texture in a shape at a precise size and position. It would also allow to do infinite translation effects, to implement sliders without the need to overlay another item, to invert images vertically and/or horizontally, to do pulsing effects, etc. ** Affects: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Loïc Molinari (loic.molinari) Status: In Progress ** Tags: ubuntushape ** Branch linked: lp:~loic.molinari/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/ubuntu-ui-toolkit- shape-rewrite -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1396162 Title: [UbuntuShape] Add image 2D transformation support Status in “ubuntu-ui-toolkit” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: Exposing a 2D scale vector and a 2D translation vector would allow the user to put the image texture in a shape at a precise size and position. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1396165] [NEW] [UbuntuShape] Colored shapes aren't batched together
Public bug reported: The current UbuntuShape uses a uniform variable to communicate its color to the shading system. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1358762] Re: Included gzip 1.2.4 has several vulnerabilities
As I mentioned in IRC: I can probably easily shave another 2½K off .text by removing stub support for multiple compressors and using the gzopen() API already shipped by klibc. Note that klibc bundles zlib 1.2.3 whereas even MirBSD has 1.2.8 already. That would also need updating. But at least, MirBSD compress uses zlib for gzip I/O instead of bundling its own inflate/deflate functions as GNU gzip does. All is 2-clause and 3-clause BSD and MIT licence. ** Also affects: klibc Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to klibc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1358762 Title: Included gzip 1.2.4 has several vulnerabilities Status in klibc: New Status in “klibc” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The included gzip version is quite old (version 1.2.4) and has several security vulnerabilities. Check http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/search- results?adv_search=truecves=oncpe_version=cpe:/a:gnu:gzip:1.2.4 for example. I explicitly checked for CVE-2001-1228, which was not fixed by a patch in the klibc package, so I assume the other vulnerabilities are not fixed either. I think it would be a good idea to update the included gzip to a current version. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1396170] [NEW] [UbuntuShape] Add support for rectangle overlay
Public bug reported: The Unity shell and other apps require a shaped rectangle overlay blended over an image. [Touch-packages] [Bug 885324] Re: Completely replace lcms1 by lcms2 in Ubuntu
This bug was fixed in the package xsane - 0.998-6ubuntu1 --- xsane (0.998-6ubuntu1) vivid; urgency=medium * Resynchronise with Debian (LP: #885324). Remaining changes: - debian/patches/pot_desktop_msgid.patch: Add .desktop file Name and Comment to the POT. - debian/control: + Depend on firefox instead of iceweasel. - debian/xsane.desktop: + Use generic scanner icon instead of outdated/confusing xsane icon. + Modified to match POT changes. xsane (0.998-6) unstable; urgency=medium * QA upload. * Update Build-Depends to point to liblcms2-dev instead of liblcms1-dev. Unfortunately, xsane is not yet ready for liblcms2 so until that is fixed it will build without LCMS support. This is done so that #745524 can be reduced to important severity and stay in testing. -- Colin Watson cjwat...@ubuntu.com Tue, 25 Nov 2014 13:39:09 + ** Changed in: xsane (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to poppler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885324 Title: Completely replace lcms1 by lcms2 in Ubuntu Status in digiKam - digital photo management: Fix Released Status in Enblend: Fix Released Status in Inkscape: A Vector Drawing Tool: Fix Released Status in Wine: Fix Released Status in “cegui-mk2” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “cups-filters” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “darkroom” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “dcraw” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “digikam” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “enblend” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “enblend-enfuse” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “f-spot” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in “geeqie” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “gimp” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “gimp-plugin-registry” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “imagemagick” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “inkscape” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “lcms” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “libkdcraw” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “libmng” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “libraw” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “openjdk-6” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “photoprint” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “poppler” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “python-imaging” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “rawstudio” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “scribus” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “shotwell” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “ufraw” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “wine1.4” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in “xsane” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Many packages in Ubuntu use the liblcms1 library (source package lcms).
