[Touch-packages] [Bug 1368647] Re: GPS and location detection not working on Nexus 4
Device: LG Nexus 4 OS: Ubuntu 15.04 r168 dual boot Still no gps at all for any app. Is there anything at all I can do? File system is read-only at the moment. Not sure what breaks if I change that. On android I heavily use gps and it's definitely a show stopper on uTouch :-( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1368647 Title: GPS and location detection not working on Nexus 4 Status in location-service package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Mako with MultiROM, utopic r239 None of the apps I have tried including Weather, Google maps, OSM Touch and SensorStatus are able to use the phone's GPS. The SensorStatus app actually reports "Found supported backend", but finds no position or other GPS data. Location detection on the other hand is doing something, but it is really far off when it comes to determining the actual location of the device. The Weather app suggests my location as Vänsjö, Jämtland, which is about 400 km north of Stockholm where I am at. OSM Touch reports "no location available" and Google maps "Your location could not be determined" I don't know if the GPS has to "waken up" somehow, but it has not shown any form of life for me on Ubuntu Touch, even though it works perfectly fine when booting the phone as Android. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1425834] Re: Pulseaudio: Output devices badly set to Headphones
Thanks for your analyze Raymond, i have to tell you that i only met recently that 'output devices' issue (about 2 months back max), even with the actual ac97 bios setting (as i know that bios is too old and dont propose the hda choice, but i will glance at it more closely again, and its the latest bios version available (no more maintained)). That is, for the first time i'm changing for the mobo green jack as you suggest. Maybe that will do the trick, i'll report back on the new boot after checking again the bios setting. ** Attachment added: "sinks" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1425834/+attachment/4372117/+files/sinks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425834 Title: Pulseaudio: Output devices badly set to Headphones Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Issue: on that vivid i386, after each cold boot, when i need "sound" to be played, i have to set back the "Volume Control -> Output Devices -> Built-in Port" to "Line Out" instead of the default "Headphones". And after each release I hope it will be fixed, but it doesn't happen. A little intro: I'm using Ubuntu for work, I rarely shutdown the computer I rather put it to sleep mode, in worst case it's hibernate. I have loads of apps opened at the same time. I use external monitor as well. Computer is Dell XPS15 L521X, 16Gb RAM, 120GB SSD + 1TB HDD. As a graphics card I'm using builtin intel HD4000, I have GF GT640 as well but it's disabled using bbswitch. Symptoms are that after some time compiz slows down a lot while using it. Usually it's no more than 2 days and it's slow again. When I restart Unity (setsid unity) it's back to full buttersmooth speed with the same apps opened which leads to conclusion that compiz can handle the load very well. Maybe it's mesa, maybe it's compiz or unity itself that slows it down - but I'm no pro to tell. With 14.10 release I observed very interesting behaviour. I have FHD builtin monitor and FHD external monitor rotated counterclockwise. Let's say I started computer yesterday in the morning, it was working smooth with both monitors and single display, I suspended computer got home unsuspended and it seemed sluggish (only graphics part of course). I ran glxgears (I know I know...) and it showed ~ 50FPS which is slow, because running the same before suspend gives near 60FPS (refresh rate). Now I come back to work and run it on single builtin display - ~ 50 FPS, I connect second FHD dispplay and FPS are back to 60 and it's running buttersmooth again. So it seems that mesa/compiz/unity have some strange refresh rate problem detection maybe... 2 FHD displays seems to be twice the job compiz has to do over single display which is strangely slower... Please advise how can I help solving this, do I need to run compiz debug version or what can I exactly help technically (applying a patch, compiling compiz myself, you name it...). I know the standard procedure of logs etc., I'm afraid that won't help much in this situation. I looked at logs and there's nothing suspicious, at least to me. The system tells that there is an update and prompts to install it. After selecting yes, system-settings brings up the install page that has a progress bar with blinking text "In Progress". It then remains stuck there, top says that system-settings and unity use ~40% CPU time each. Nothing happens though, it will remain stuck there forever. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1387558] Re: Compiz slows down over time (usually one day is enough)
[Expired for unity (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1387558 Title: Compiz slows down over time (usually one day is enough) Status in Compiz: Expired Status in Unity: Expired Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I have had this problem for quite a long time tbh. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1298611] Re: [FFe] apparmor signal and ptrace mediation
Ken, The ptrace mediation in 12.04 LTS is very rudimentary; if you add capability sys_ptrace, to a profile then processes running in that profile are allowed to trace any process the discretionary access controls allow. The fine-grained permissions introduced in 14.04 LTS require both the new kernel and userspace. I tested that the apparmor 2.7.102-0ubuntu3.10 package with the linux- generic-lts-trusty 3.13.0.49.43 package will allow ptrace using the capability sys_ptrace, permission via a strace profile: # cat usr.bin.strace # Last Modified: Sat Apr 11 03:38:35 2015 #include /usr/bin/strace { #include capability sys_ptrace, /bin/ls rix, /home/*/ r, /proc/filesystems r, /usr/bin/strace mr, } I tested both strace /bin/ls and strace -p 1. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1442837] [NEW] "ifdown wlan0" brings down multiple interfaces, not just the specified one
Public bug reported: I have a server with multiple internet connections using several different network interfaces (e.g. wlan0 for wireless and lte0 for an LTE dongle). Both are configured in /etc/network/interfaces to use DHCP like so: allow-hotplug lte0 iface lte0 inet dhcp iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-ssid MY_NETWORK wpa-psk wpa-driver nl80211 wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK If both interfaces are up and I try to bring just one of them down using "ifdown wlan0" I would expect the other interface to remain up. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1442828] Re: change for LP 1425376 breaks systemd After=network-online.target
Martin, this looks like it renders the network-online target entirely useless. When we're in Austin, I think you, me, and stgraber should sit down and argue a bit about what "correct" behaviour is, but I'd guess it'll looks something like "block on a one-shot attempt to bring up the network, and if that fails miserably, background a second attempt so the boot can continue". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1441368] Re: After Standby login without password is no more possible
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441368 Title: After Standby login without password is no more possible Status in unity package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have 2 users installed: A | Systemmanager | Login with password B | Standard | Login without password sudo passwd -Sa : a P 08/25/2014 0 9 7 -1 b NP 08/25/2014 0 9 7 -1 If running under user B after some time the system automatically suspends to Standby, and is waked up later, at the normal login screen the login without password is no more possible, I get in red letters: wrong password. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1321161] Re: [Greeter] Unlocking welcome screen with two fingers doesn't unlock properly
I guess I'll mark this fix released for unity8. There is still an oddity with using two fingers, if you start swiping with one (or two) fingers, then add a third finger holding the welcome screen in place. Release the two fingers, and then the third, and you can sometimes get a stuck greeter. But I believe that's a separate bug (Saviq filed that?). Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Touch-packages] [Bug 1442775] [NEW] apt-get --ignore-missing doesn't ignore missing packages
Public bug reported: The man page for apt-get states: -m, --ignore-missing, --fix-missing Ignore missing packages; if packages cannot be retrieved or fail the integrity check after retrieval (corrupted package files), hold back those packages and handle the result. Use of this option together with -f may produce an error in some situations. If a package is selected for installation (particularly if it is mentioned on the command line) and it could not be downloaded then it will be silently held back. Configuration Item: APT::Get::Fix-Missing. However, when removing or purging packages, it does /not/ actually ignore missing packages: build@ub14test:~/p4/zimbra/main/ThirdParty/openldap$ sudo apt-get purge -y --ignore-missing zimbra-openssl-lib Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done E: Unable to locate package zimbra-openssl-lib build@ub14test:~/p4/zimbra/main/ThirdParty/openldap$ echo $? 100 This causes some pain when using apt-get in a Makefile and wanting to ensure custom packages have been removed. dpkg handles this correctly: build@ub14test:~/p4/zimbra/main/ThirdParty/openldap$ sudo dpkg --purge zimbra-openssl-lib dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove zimbra-openssl-lib which isn't installed build@ub14test:~/p4/zimbra/main/ThirdParty/openldap$ echo $? 0 however you then lose dependency tracking. ** Affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442775 Title: apt-get --ignore-missing doesn't ignore missing packages Status in apt package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The man page for apt-get states: -m, --ignore-missing, --fix-missing Ignore missing packages; if packages cannot be retrieved or fail the integrity check after retrieval (corrupted package files), hold back those packages and handle the result.
