Bug description:
As of krillin rtm image 120, silent mode works to silence the phone
and SMS ringers, but does not affect anything else. To meet
expectations of users from other platforms, it should also silence the
keyboard and dialpad sounds, and probably the three beeps which
trigger when the other end of a call hangs up.

As for music, videos, and alarms, almost all platforms still play
audio for those regardless of the silent mode setting. (one exception
is the Palm Treo, which used a physical kill switch for sound and thus
  silenced *everything*)

  comm=apache2 lport=443 family=inet6 sock_type=raw protocol=6')

Note: If you test with old logs, it doesn't happen always because
is_known_rule() / profile_known_*() exits as soon as it finds a match,
and the order of include files is random - which means it doesn't
always loop until it hits the directory include.

I'm afraid that this affects the profile_known_*() functions for all
  rule types.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1472585] [NEW] [browser] add support to copy page link to clipboard

2015-07-08 Thread zubozrout
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I am constantly missing url to clipboard feature in webbrowser. It is nice you
can finally share the browsed page but an ability co have a link in clipboard
so you can write an email with it or post it on social networks is missing.

I am not completely sure how to approach this but same problem may apply
to other applications as well. It would be awesome if maybe content hub
was able to detect if it manages a link (string) and then allow user
just to have it in a clipboard. But I am not sure it that is the best
approach. Maybe it would be best to have it in the app, allow developers
to make a sharing button with content hub / clipboard choice as it is on
Android (I suppose).

What do you think?

Thank you very much.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1472585] Re: [browser] add support to copy page link to clipboard

2015-07-08 Thread Olivier Tilloy
There is already a copy link entry in the contextual menu (long-press
on a hyperlink, then tap Copy Link). The link is in the clipboard, and
you can paste it in other applications’ text fields (just tested that it
works with the messaging app).

Note that the functionality itself was broken until recently (see bug
#1463435), it is now fixed in the development version and the fix will
be part of the next OTA update (next week if everything goes well).

No, I am not talking about hovering my finger above link, but sharing
the currently loaded page, preferably using the menu in the top right
corner of the app. There is already a sharing button so it would be nice
to include it in it somehow.

Title:
Need a fake OSK plugin for unit tests

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Right now all unit tests depending on OSK basically never run because
they can only succeed with maliit which can't be setup on the fly. And
even for Autopilot all we have is synthetic events (see bug 1428114).
We need a testable OSK plugin that doesn't require maliit.

In Ubuntu.Components 1.1 this was working fine to pop everything from
a PageStack except the first page:

  while (pageStack.depth  1) {
pageStack.pop()
  }

In Ubuntu.Components 1.2 this does no longer work, because it pops the first
page too. My suspicion is that it is related to the animation in the header
which updates the depth asynchronously.

See the attached file as a standalone example to reproduce. While it
works when importing 1.1, it breaks when importing 1.2

This appears to be a ubuntu specific bug as it does not show up on

It goes away if I unplug the mouse/keyboard usb dongle I use. If I
attach a wired keyboard only it does not show up. I tried adding a

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1467609] Re: vibrations on MSI gt72 2qe scren

This issue only appears with the nvidia driver, not with the nouveau driver.
However the nouveau driver does not seem to use the geforce, and has very low
graphical performances.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1337262] Re: kmod should permit use of compressed modules

2015-07-08 Thread Alex Bligh
I know this isn't exactly urgent, but it is the world's simplest patch,
and is really quite useful if you are booting in an environment where
modules are on the boot disk.

Unable to mount lvmcache root device at boot time

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Status in lvm2 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm experimenting with Vivid Vervet on a virtual machine and tried a
new LVM feature, lvmcache. I made a cache for the root file system,
rebuilt the initrd and rebooted the VM.

At boot time, the system failed to activate the root LV. After some
investigation, I found out, it's because the initrd is missing some
essential stuff needed for activating a cached LV.

The initrd was missing the dm-cache module. I regenerated the initrd
with explicitly listing dm-cache in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules, but
the system still can't boot up, because now it is missing the
  /usr/sbin/cache_check utility.

As SSDs are becoming more and more common, I think it will be common
to use them as cache for root file systems, thus it is mandatory to
make sure that an initrd can mount an lvmcached root device when
necessary, preferably without /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and other
  manual initrd hacking.

  System details:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1467609] Re: vibrations on MSI gt72 2qe scren

2015-07-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
guillaume le louet, just to clarify, does this issue only occur with the
upstream nvidia driver, or also with nouveau?

I tried the 349.16 free driver instead of 352 but the issue is still
the same.

Just to clarify, any version of the nvidia driver is not free as in
source, but closed and proprietary.

Crash while setting homepage in Settings Menu

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 15.04
  Version : 20150611.3

  -- Open Web Browser
  -- Go to settings
-- Click to select the homepage option ..(The homepage editing option will
pop up with black background)
-- rotate the phone to landscape mode.. (The black shaded background is now
only covers half the screen which is very lousy)
  --
   Now Two issues here:

  1) Since the pop up menu is not locking the background instance, that
means you can access those other settings options (Search engine, blah
  blah)...

Expected: In landscape mode the black background should cover the
whole screen and the background instance should be locked for user
  input

  2) Now that we can access the back button too while keeping the Homepage
pop up still open. Clicking it will take you out of the setting menu that means
on your opened tab.
But the pop up will not go and will stay there forever whatever you do...

Expected: The back button should be locked too..

  3) Apparently, the app crashes (randomly and not always).

Status in qtdeclarative-opensource-src package in Ubuntu RTM:

Bug description:
While working on the new thumbnailer, we've been using the new
QQuickAsyncImageProvider API. The API allows us to report errors by
overriding the errorString() method on QQuickImageResponse to return a
non-empty string. However, if I do so the application crashes.

Loading up the symbols to get a stack trace shows this to be a bug in
  the logic of QQuickPixmapReader::asyncResponseFinished:

  QQuickTextureFactory *t = 0;
  QQuickPixmapReply::ReadError error = QQuickPixmapReply::NoError;
  QString errorString;
  QSize readSize;
  if (!response-errorString().isEmpty()) {
  error = QQuickPixmapReply::Loading;
  errorString = response-errorString();
  } else {
  t = response-textureFactory();
     }
  mutex.lock();
  if (!cancelled.contains(job))
  job-postReply(error, errorString, t-textureSize(), t);
  mutex.unlock();

If errorString() is not empty, then t will still be NULL. It is then
dereferenced to call t-textureSize() resulting in a segfault.

seems that the checkbox shown during multiselect mode doesn't seem to

  Steps to reproduce the bug:
  1. Run the sample code
  2. Long press to active multiselect mode
  3. Press on any checkbox visible while in multiselect mode
  4. Now press on that listitem.

  Notice the following,
  - Clicking on the listitem toggles the selected property. But the checkbox
does not seem to respect that.
  - The selectedIndices array correctly shows that the listitem is
selected/unselected on pressing it, but the checkbox just ignores that.

I have attached sample code which reproduces the bug in a simple

Status in the base for Ubuntu mobile products:

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
The browser has a mechanism to simplify the URL in the address bar when it
looses focus (it displays only the domain name, which makes it much more
readable on small form factors such as phones).
When focusing the address bar to input some text, it used to display the full
URL, but a recent regression broke that.

  Steps to reproduce:

   1) focus the address bar, type example.org/foo, and validate (return key
on the OSK)
   2) wait for the page to be fully loaded, then focus the address bar again

Expected result: the contents of the address bar becomes
http://example.org/foo;.

Unfortunately, running apport-collect 1470644 yields:

With a popup saying No additional information collected.

Indeed software-properties is not installed, but software-properties-gtk
is. I've run apport-collect -p software-properties-gtk 1470644 and
that has uploaded some infos - hopefully that helps. Let me know if

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1439101] Re: impossible receive MMS any operator on bq aquaris E4.5

2015-07-08 Thread John McAleely
I agree that MMS should have some priority: We've been fixing things in
separate, more specific, bugs. So, as mentioned in #28, a number of bugs
were fixed in ota4. Additionally these bugs:

bug #1417976

bug #1444840

Are fixed in ota-5, and will further improve MMS. unfortunately we
discovered bug #1471740 quite late in the cycle so it may not make
ota-5 (we'll know later in the week).

Notice how #1471740 might affect any operator at any time, so we need
to get that fixed before we can clearly see what remains.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389336] Re: Use geoclue-2.0

Any progress on this? It's better to finish all porting before 15.10 is
released.

Bug description:
Geoclue2 (source package geoclue-2.0) is a separate, parallel-
installable version of geoclue1 (source package geoclue). We will
likely shortly have both in main (see MIR bug 1388294) and it would be
great to be able to demote geoclue1 to universe and only support one
  version of the service.

The packages associated with this bug all have a reverse depends on
geoclue1 in some form or patches to remove support for geoclue-2.0
because it wasn't in main yet (e.g. gnome-settings-daemon).

Porting from geoclue-1.0 to 2.0 apparently isn't terribly trivial.
But we have at least six months to do it.

I bought my BQ Aquaris 4.5 over 3 months ago and don't use it because of the
MMS issue.
Don't you think that an issue affecting (sometimes blocking) users in France,
Switzerland, Portugal, UK, Slovenia, Poland, Denmark etc. should be prioritized
higher?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK

2015-07-08 Thread tomoe_musashi
Hi Nobuto Murata,

Actually i think that fonts-takao is one of the best Japanese out
there.but when its compared to fonts-noto, noto provides more weights,
better CJK fonts support with multilingual, and personally, better
monospace fonts paring bwtween English letters and CJK fonts, better
e-reading experience with unified fonts design.

here are some links that they discussed about changing Fedora's Chinese
fonts(in Chinese):
https://lists.stg.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/chinese%40lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/ATEHR3KTVLOL5WSXV2HZ4BAPPKDELXNF/
https://lists.stg.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/chin...@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/ABGCWMJK7BDJD6QDZ4UFCHLVJXCCFV7T/

i apologize about uncertain F13 info i posted. its nothing to do with
language-selector. i will edit the description.
And for those applications lacking locl GSUB feature and lang tagging, setting
font family for per locale would be necessary.

noto-cjk is definitely better what we had before, like fonts- wqy and
fonts-droid.
Android community had received these complains for years, finally they got
them fixed on lollipop.
Fedora also set it as default chinese font start from F21.
and of course, i still hope that ubuntu could drop those 69-language-selector
fontconfig files, just like what F13 did.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1472585] Re: [browser] add support to copy page link to clipboard

2015-07-08 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I see what you mean. In theory the content hub should catter for most
use cases (send a link by e-mail or share it with social networks).
However there is also a way to just copy it to the clipboard: tap on the
address bar, it gets focus and the entire URL is selected, then long
press anywhere on the URL, and you get a contextual menu with
cut/copy/paste options (like any other text field). Does that address
your use case?

missing.

I am not completely sure how to approach this but same problem may
apply to other applications as well. It would be awesome if maybe
content hub was able to detect if it manages a link (string) and then
allow user just to have it in a clipboard. But I am not sure it that
is the best approach. Maybe it would be best to have it in the app,
allow developers to make a sharing button with content hub / clipboard
choice as it is on Android (I suppose).

  What do you think?

  Thank you very much.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1192842] Re: [logind] support multiple sessions multiplexed on one VT

2015-07-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Is this still a thing? This hasn't moved in two years, and this kind of
massive redesign work isn't somethign which we should discuss at the
distro level, but at upstream. I suggest discussing that on
http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/systemd-devel or providing
issues/pull requests on https://github.com/systemd/systemd if you want
to work on this.

I close this, as it's not going to be very useful here at the distro
level. Thanks!

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1436330] Re: Network Manager doesn't set metric for local networks any more, causing connection issues

2015-07-08 Thread Ghislain Laframboise
Le 2015-07-03 00:09, Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre a écrit :
My understanding was that there would be packet loss all the time
without the patches applied, due to packets being sent in a round-robin
fashion between two links to the same default gateway.

This said, I'm able to reproduce the apparent packet loss, but I say
apparent here because it seems to be an issue with ping (or, the kernel
does something special, doesn't understand packets coming in to an
interface it doesn't expect perhaps), not with the actual packets.

I've been able to observe traffic going out to my default gateway and coming
back, with no interruption, using tcpdump:
 sudo tcpdump -i any icmp

I don't think at this point we're working with anything different from
how it was in Trusty, but just to be on the safe side I'll test that out
to confirm we did get the same behavior.

I actually use pppoe now as a walk around the problem and my internet
connection works fines without network-manager so i remove it.

Network Manager doesn't set metric for local networks any more,
  causing connection issues

Status in NetworkManager:
  Fix Released
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:

Status in network-manager source package in Vivid:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  [Impact]
NM changed its method of setting routes on systems, and no longer attaches a
metric value specific to the type of device being used. These values were used
to prioritize connections, so that for example, when connected to both wired
and wireless at the same time, wired can be used in priority over wireless
without incurring packet loss.
Currently, when connected to both wired and wireless are connected to the
same subnet, the user may notice connectivity issues since packets are sent in
a round-robin fashion over all default routes on the same subnet with the same
metric.

  [Test Case]
1- Connect to a wireless network.
2- Connect to the same network over Ethernet both connections should come up
on the same subnet.
3- Make sure there is no packet loss, and that there are specific metric
values for each default route, as displayed by 'ip route'.

  [Regression Potential]
Since handling default routes properly involves correcting the behavior for
all device types, VPN behavior may change to pick up the default routes in all
cases, over a wired connection. It's also possible that a connection pick up
the default route when it is not meant to.

  ---

With Vivid, having two connections to the same network subnet is
unstable due to missing metrics for local networks.

  Example:

Being connected to 192.168.1.0/24 via both wired and wireless will
cause connectivity issues as sent packets hop between the two
  interfaces.

It used to be that this wasn't an issue. I would go between work and
home and plug in and my machine would automatically connect to
wireless and it would use the lower metric ethernet interface for all
communications, while the wlan interface would remain connected but
  unused.

Title:
gsettings not sticking for Unity dash search

Status in glib2.0 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have recently noticed that when going to System Settings Security

That after a restart, the option has reset back to its default state:

So the only workaround that I have found is to put:

  /bin/bash -c gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Lenses remote-content-
  search 'none'

In the startup applications list. But it would be good if the gsetting
could just stick, and as this appears to be a bug with the setting not
sticking, I am filing this bug report.

after every print cupsd starts using 100% cpu and don't close.
have to kill it every time with sudo pkill cupsd
  printing still works fine

  [Impact]

CUPS 2.0.x can suddenly take 100% CPU in certain situations, making
the system slow and producing fan noise.

  [Test Case]

After printing a job cupsd takes 100% CPU. This does not occur for all
users, probably depends on queue type and on timing (computer/network
  speed).

With the proposed package the problem does not occur any more.

  [Regression Potential]

Very low. The patch is very simple.

I am constantly missing url to clipboard feature in webbrowser. It is nice

clipboard so you can write an email with it or post it on social networks is

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1472622] [NEW] Unity doesn't update or freezes contents within application window

2015-07-08 Thread Peter Würtz
Public bug reported:

When switching between different application windows there is a chance that the
contents of a window just freeze. For me this happens with Firefox quite often,
and extremely often when using QtCreator. Once such a window is frozen,
scrolling or keyboard input seems to work, but you won't see any effect because
the window contents are not updated anymore.
You can re-animate such a frozen window again by just resizing it a bit, but
it will get stuck again some time later after switching between windows.

This bug doesn't happen with openbox or gnome as window manager /

To verify the snap work, tap the button multiple times. You should see
no denials. Then tap the button until the text string says 'disabled'--
then leave the device alone and observe the screen dimming/locking is
inhibited. (Requires latest rc-proposed and apparmor-easyprof-ubuntu
1.3.13 from silo 17).

have been taken with the phones camera and stored in the photo roll

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Navigate to the Videos scope
  2. Tap on a video
  3. Tap on the Play button
  4. Let the video play for some time and then open the camera application
  5. Swipe left to get to the photo roll and swipe to any video in the photo
roll
  6. Tap on the play button

  Expected result:

The video from the photo roll plays properly in the media player

  Actual result:

The video is corrupted in some way - usually the video that was
already loaded is shown as a still but with the sound of the video
from the photo roll. Sometimes the correct video will be played but in
  the wrong aspect ratio.

When pictures are imported into the gallery, via content-hub, we
should always display them in the Event for the current day. Right
now, the picture is played in the Event that corresponds to the
metadata creation date which is very confusing because after the
picture is imported you can't find it easily.

Arthur and I discussed modifiying one of the standard exif tags (like
DateTime, but don't modify CreationDate) with the current date of
import as the gallery already sorts by a series of tags. Another
solution would be to add a custom tag like (importDate) and change the
sort to use that if it exists before falling back to other tags.

Ah, the shortening of URLs while focused is a bug indeed (bug #1472161,
it’s in fact a recent regression), which is being fixed as I type. Once
fixed, you’ll be able to copy the full URL.

  printing still works fine

Very low. The patch is very simple.

2015-07-08 Thread zubozrout
Thanks for the info and for the link. Then I guess it is ok to close
this thread as Invalid.

Only thing that bothers me is that in the future it may be necessary to
consider adding copy to clipboard feature to the content hub as some
applications don't have address bar and yet it may be a good feature to
be able to copy a content from it (like public transport schedule or
link to a post in a social network or content aggregator app).

Support an interface in QML and HTML to allow an app to keep the
screen on while the app is active. This has come up in several
scenarios, such as an ebook reader, a clock in night mode.

First step is to hook up QtSystemInfo screenSaverEnabled

One solution to inhibit the screen blanking:

Add a new dbus rule to the default template
Provide a mediator (unity8) to control this, so it can restore the screen
blanking when the app is not active or has been closed
Prompt the user for confirmation the first time the app accesses it
use the trust store to avoid prompts each time
add to the System settings Other app access panel an entry for Screen or
Display so the setting could be revoked

The desire was to resize all surfaces to the size of the smallest
  attached display.

  usc::WindowManager implements the mir::shell::WindowManagement
interface. I thought it logical to implement this resizing in
add_display. However it causes a deadlock when plugging in a second
display, while the compositor is stopping, see this backtrace:

  http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/11831907/

I suspect Threads 8 and Thread 1 are blocking eachother.

Bug description:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK

2015-07-08 Thread Cheng-Chia Tseng
According to the README pdf file (https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-
han-sans/raw/release/SourceHanSansReadMe.pdf) of Adobe Source Han Sans,
and the experience within LibreOffice, I have to say that Super OTC file
is not well supported in Linux desktop.

It is suggested using Regional Subset OTF files in Linux for now;
however, that will take us a lot of space to keep all the OTF files.
This is what Fedora provides for CN and TW locales, 7 files for about
39.6MB for TW locale and about 58.6MB for CN locale.

The other way is to endure the poor support of Super OTC and file
related issues to those infected packages. And this will be a hard way
for us to go. It will benefit the ecosystem better in the long run, but
I don't recommend this way.

fonts-droid.
Android community had received these complains for years, finally they got
them fixed on lollipop.
Fedora also set it as default chinese font start from F21.
and of course, i still hope that ubuntu could drop those 69-language-selector
fontconfig files, just like what F13 did.

I agree with your suggestion. I mentioned it to the maintainers of
content-hub, and the good news is that this is being designed (under the
codename pasteboard, apparently).

  Hello,
I am constantly missing url to clipboard feature in webbrowser. It is nice
you can finally share the browsed page but an ability co have a link in
clipboard so you can write an email with it or post it on social networks is

However the number I provided matches this format (and I tried it
with a +44 and 0044 prefix as well as 0), and I can receive text
messages from that number, so it seems like something is mangling the
number prior to sending it to the operator.
