2015-12-08 Thread Goacid

When I install the nvidia package, no HDMI output.
In order it works I have to install the packages and the drivers from nvidia

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523823] Re: Dash touch scrolling is slower than web browser touch scrolling

2015-12-08 Thread Michael Zanetti
The difference is explained by the different toolkits, yes. The reason
why the dash (and everything else) is slower is very likely because we
still haven't landed the Qt pixel-independence branches which causes Qt
to calculate the max flickVerlocy based on high density pixel ratio of
mako, instead of our virtual grid unit ratio.

  obviously it should not be.

This has been an issue for as long as I remember. Just upgraded mako
to xenial and it's still there.

Am I imagining things? Is this simply explained by the web browser
using a different toolkit? Could it just be a side-effect of bug
  1494795?

... so if the issue is not the difference in libraries on xenial then it
might be due to the jump to gcc 5.3.1 (as gcc 5.2.1 is faster for cross
compiling anyway).

  Processing triggers for initramfs-tools ...

Remove unused kernels using computer janitor (not in repositories for

Bug description:
When the dialer app is not running and I get redirected to it in order
to make a call, the first time I hit the "call" button I invariably
get the error message: "no network" even though the phone is connected
to the GSM network. (My phone has the language set to Norwegian, so I
am guessing this is the English equivalent to the message I get.)

Here is what I do in detail:
  - I choose a number from the contacts list
  - I hit the phone icon next to the number to make a call,
  - the dialer app screen opens
  - I hit the "call" button,
  - message "no network"

The status bar at the top shows the phone has a GSM connection the
  whole time.

When I try again a couple of seconds later, the call gets placed
  normally.

The same thing happens when switching from the messaging app to the
dialer in order to call the person I have been texting.

However, if I wait a moment after entering the dialer before pressing
the "call" button, everything runs normally.

If the dialer-app is already active in the background when the
redirection happens, the bug does not occur.

Some kind of slow start issue? Screen appearing before the app is
actually ready to take the command?

   UX comment ---

Please find attached to this bug a design solution which shows two solutions
for the here described issue.
  A. Places the [SIM name] in the place of a time stamp (recommended).
  B. Adds [SIM name] after the header of the notification.

Solution B may be applied if solution A can not be implemented for the
  time being.

The label of the SIM card should always represent the label users set,
even if they renamed the sim cards.

  I see only caller ID.

It may be useful if one of the SIM cards is in roaming, or when one of

The SIM card indication should replace the "Incoming call" text. This
applies only for dual SIM devices. On a single SIM device the
"Incoming call" labe remains. Please see attached wireframe for the
  exact solution.

However in the messaging-app conversation view, it correctly shows:

We should do the same thing for the notification and for the item in

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1453538] Re: Invisible mouse pointer

2015-12-08 Thread Thierry Carrez
I don't think it's a lightdm issue. I've been trying lxdm and the same
issue happens there.

Might be a kernel issue: I tried mainline kernel 4.3.0 from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (v4.3-wily) and
it works flawlessly. Could also be a subtle race and running a different
kernel (or dumping boot messages on the console) alters the parameters
enough to make it work.

This has been an issue for as long as I remember. Just upgraded mako
to xenial and it's still there.

Am I imagining things? Is this simply explained by the web browser
using a different toolkit? Could it just be a side-effect of bug
  1494795?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1523847] [NEW] dircolors produces no colour information

2015-12-08 Thread Gavin Panella
Public bug reported:

The dircolors default database is populated:

  $ dircolors --print-database
  # Configuration file for dircolors, a utility to help you set the
  # LS_COLORS environment variable used by GNU ls with the --color option.
  ...
  .axa 00;36
  .oga 00;36
  .spx 00;36
  .xspf 00;36

However nothing gets produced when asking it to render LS_COLORS:

  $ dircolors --bourne-shell
  LS_COLORS='';
  export LS_COLORS

  $ dircolors --csh
  setenv LS_COLORS ''

I would expect something more like:

  $ dircolors --bourne-shell
  LS_COLORS='...=00;36:*.spx=00;36:*.xspf=00;36:';
  export LS_COLORS

and:

  $ dircolors --csh
  setenv LS_COLORS '...=00;36:*.spx=00;36:*.xspf=00;36:'

where the ellipsis represents many similar rules.

The same happens when using dircolors with an existing database file:

  $ dircolors --bourne-shell /path/to/dircolors/database
  LS_COLORS='';
  export LS_COLORS

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1495553] Re: [System settings] VPN configuration not possible

2015-12-08 Thread Oliver Grawert
on a sidenote, openvpn is preinstalled since forever on the image, if
you store the config in the users home you can easily use it via the
terminal app and user startup scripts. so all backend bits are already
available, only the UI connection is missing.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1443982] [NEW] [phone-app]Allow the user to manually configure a voicemail number

2015-12-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Version: ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-aquaris.en r20 krillin

As of at least the above version there is no way to configure a
voicemail number for the phone manually.

If the system is able to pull the voicemail number from the SIM then the
1 button on the dialer has a speed dial functionality of calling
voicemail. There is no way to enable this in the case that a voicemail
number is not available from the SIM.

--- UX comment

Users will be able to set a voicemail number in application settings. In
this particular case it will be in the phone app. This is currently work
in progress.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1495553] Re: [System settings] VPN configuration not possible

2015-12-08 Thread Matthew Exon
Openvpn is blocked in China. The protocol itself is detected and
automatically blocked. So this isn't a solution for me, although I'm
sure it's good enough for lots of people. PPTP and L2TP are allowed,
presumably because they tend to be used by companies rather than
individuals.

Bug description:
From a discussion between the Ubuntu phone insiders:

with ota6, the camera app asks you for permission to use the camera. need to
put yes. not sure how to check whether the phone thinks it got a yes or a no.
yes, i accept and all is black..
I also accepted it, but I needed to activate it somewhere in the settings
somehow…
Systen Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Other app access -> Camera
I thought I accidently pressed the wrong button, but I'm not the only one…
yep and if you acc denied then you have no idea what's happening
not to mention that the settings are basically hidden :))
Systen Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Other app access -> Camera 
the camera really ought to say "camera access revoked; re-enable in system
settings" if it's revoked
  yeah, that would be good

It is possible to revoke the camera app's access to the camera. This
is, I suppose, OK, but if it's been done then the camera app should
display "access revoked" or similar, rather than just a black screen,
and explain how to re-enable access.

I suppose letting an app know that it has been revoked (rather than
just lying by giving it a black screen and claiming that that's what
the camera sees) is a security violation (should apps know they have
been revoked?) but the revocation settings are well-hidden (as
mentioned) and people will be very confused if they accidentally
revoke the camera-app's access to the camera and don't know how to
turn it back on; the camera app could be a lot more helpful here.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1443982] Re: [phone-app]Allow the user to manually configure a voicemail number

2015-12-08 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** Package changed: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) => dialer-app
(Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

  Version: ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-aquaris.en r20 krillin

As of at least the above version there is no way to configure a
voicemail number for the phone manually.

If the system is able to pull the voicemail number from the SIM then the
1 button on the dialer has a speed dial functionality of calling
voicemail. There is no way to enable this in the case that a voicemail
number is not available from the SIM.

-
  --- UX comment

Users will be able to set a voicemail number in application settings. In
- this particular case it will be in the phone app. This is currently work
- in progress.

Ok, well as that wasn't at all clear in the guide I think that the guide
needs improving so that it actually tells you that, or the
"libgtk-3-dev" package should be installed by default.

However, upon running that code I just get this error:

  No such schema 'org.gtk.Settings.Debug'

And the keyboard shortcuts don't work... I have checked in
"org.gtk.Settings" and there is no "Debug" section.

the Ubuntu package has that schemas and works fine, you might have an
issue with the Ubuntu GNOME ppa then, closing the Ubuntu side and
letting the GNOME remix team handle it instead

Since all the actions are enabled and active by default (causing the
Ambiguous bug#1514856) I implement a workaround in my app to disable

  shortcut: page.active ? "Esc" : ""

The problem is, that I am receiving serveral error messages on
  terminal while running the app:

  "QML Action: Invalid shortcut:"

  -
Note: the shortcut (and any property that can be reset) should be
cleared/reset using undefined. So the above binding should look like:
  shortcut: page.active ? "Esc" : undefined

Note2: actions added to any ActionItem derived type will automatically
activate/deactivate depending on the page or dialog activation. This
means that those Actions which are in an inactive Page will not be
active, so there will be no need for the above binding.

Bug description:
Gstreamer calculates an ID for Audio CDs and optionally submits it to
MusicBrainz.
This enables programs to find the corresponding metadata for a CD on
MusicBrainz.

Gstreamer < 1.3.1 doesn't do this correctly for CDs with data tracks,
leading to invalid Disc IDs being submitted to the MusicBrainz
  database.

This is reported upstream in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=708991
and fixed in gstreamer 1.3.1. The corresponding patch is supplied as an
attachment here.
Trusty Tahr is using 1.2.x and there is no new release on that branch.
Trusty Tahr is still supported until 2019. It would be really nice if that
can be fixed.

The bug surfaces as a problem in Rhythmbox because starting with 2.97
this uses gstreamer for MusicBrainz Disc ID handling.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1495553] Re: [System settings] VPN configuration not possible

2015-12-08 Thread Matthew Exon
Looking at the updated spec:

“Type:” should contain those VPN types currently implemented, currently
“OpenVPN”, and eventually “L2TP” and “PPTP”. While only one is
implemented, the menu should be present but disabled

Presumably then ww08-2016 will allow me to configure OpenVPN, but not
PPTP and L2TP. Should I submit separate bugs for those? Because those
are the ones I'm actually affected by.

test suite of which manipulates packages in a chroot. What I discovered
there is that the chroot had POSIX locale and an .egg-info file was
being parsed that contained non-ascii characters (latin-1 in a person's
name). I worked around this by ensuring the chroot had en_US.UTF-8
locale.

Something's changed though since this is a new bug affecting multiple
packages. For now I'm going to retarget it to setuptools
(pkg_resources) and will investigate further.

I added them as separate bugs, bug #1523946 for PPTP and bug #1523948
for L2TP. The implementation and user interface changes will be
different in each case and the priority may well be different as well.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1518420] Re: There is no way to unset action 'shortcut' property

Title:
There is no way to unset action 'shortcut' property

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
Since all the actions are enabled and active by default (causing the
Ambiguous bug#1514856) I implement a workaround in my app to disable
action shortcuts if the page is not active. Something like:

  shortcut: page.active ?

It is removing the section that reads ~/.cups/client.conf instead of removing
the section that reads CUPS_SERVERROOT/client.conf that got moved higher up in

Title:
Cups SSL is vulernable to POODLE

Status in cups package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in cups source package in Trusty:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * Cups in Trusty is vulnerbable to the Poodle SSLv3. This disables it by
default.
   * Users who have clients that don't support TLS1.0 will not be able to
connect, unless
they specify the additional options in cupsd.conf.

  [Test Case]

   * Install cupsd with /etc/cups/cupsd.conf SSL options SSLPort 443 and
SSLOptions None
     * This should show up as having RC4 and SSLv3 disabled via a test like
ssllabs.
   * Same but specify SSLOptions to AllowSSL3 or AllowRC4.

  [Regression Potential]

   * One assumption was this should only affect WinXP and even then only
IE6 winxp users. If incorrect more could be affected.

   * The biggest issue could be that AllowSSL3 or AllowRC4 don't work in
some unknown corner case. There's no evidence of this and other
distros have deployed a very similar patch.

  [Other Info]

   * Only targetting 14.04 because of my assumption that if you're on
12.04 you are more likely to have older clients connecting to it.

  Original description:

On 12.04 and 14.04 if you enable cups ssl you are vulnerable to
poodle, and there does not appear to be any way to mitigate it in Cups
  config.

  Ubuntu 14.04 -
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=190.35.213.162.lcy-02.canonistack.canonical.com=on
  Ubuntu 12.04 -
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=191.35.213.162.lcy-02.canonistack.canonical.com=on

  Fixed in wily -
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=192.35.213.162.lcy-02.canonistack.canonical.com=on
  Upstream fix - https://www.cups.org/str.php?L4476

Should we disable ssvl3 in the 12.04/14.04 cups by default and
backport the option to turn it back on?
