[Touch-packages] [Bug 1804847] Re: systemd=229-4ubuntu21.8 use of fchownat failes on some systems (openvz)

2018-11-25 Thread Peter Enns
I had the same problem with ssh, after reboot I was not able to SSH to
the server.

My solution to the SSH problem was the following (through an emergency
console session from the VPS provider's control panel):

sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config

Find:
UsePrivilegeSeperation yes
and change to:
UsePrivilegeSeperation no

sudo service ssh restart

This worked for me, but I am not sure about the security implications of
this change.

SV, thank you for the temporary solution, I tried it on my test server
and it worked fine.

Title:
  systemd=229-4ubuntu21.8 use of fchownat failes on some systems

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  The following description is taken from:

  https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+question/676237

  Hello everyone,
  I'm running 16.04 LTS on a virtual server which, I think, uses OpenVz. After
a recent reboot I found most of my services to be in a failed state. The reason
for that, I guess, are these log entries:

  Nov 17 04:47:42 h2118376 systemd-tmpfiles[165]: fchownat() of
/run/elasticsearch failed: Invalid argument
  Nov 17 04:47:42 h2118376 systemd-tmpfiles[165]: fchownat() of /run/kopano

  Nov 17 04:47:42 h2118376 systemd-tmpfiles[165]: fchownat() of
/run/systemd/netif/leases failed: Invalid argument
  Nov 17 04:47:42 h2118376 systemd-tmpfiles[165]: fchownat() of
/run/log/journal failed: Invalid argument
  Nov 17 04:47:42 h2118376 systemd-tmpfiles[165]: fchownat() of

  Nov 17 04:47:42 h2118376 systemd-tmpfiles[165]: fchownat() of
/run/log/journal/bbad3a438f4b4fb49e5d0700bd5981e8/system.journal failed:
Invalid argument

  To verify I tried this:

  /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d# SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug systemd-tmpfiles --create
elasticsearch.conf
  Reading config file "elasticsearch.conf".
  Running create action for entry d /var/run/elasticsearch
  Found existing directory "/var/run/elasticsearch".
  "/run/elasticsearch" has right mode 40755
  chown "/run/elasticsearch" to 120.128
  fchownat() of /run/elasticsearch failed: Invalid argument

  I can manually chown the directories, e.g. "chown
  elasticsearch:elasticsearch /var/run/elasticsearch" and restart the
  service successfully. My suspicion is, this is related to an upgrade
  of systemd to 229-4ubuntu21.8.

  At this point I don't know what to do.

  I'm also confused about the version I have installed, which I thought is
systemd-229. Howver, I looked at
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/v229/src/tmpfiles/tmpfiles.c and found
that fchownat() is only used from version 238+:
  Tag v237 (and earlier, including 229):
  /.../
  if (chown(fn,
i->uid_set ? i->uid : UID_INVALID,
i->gid_set ? i->gid : GID_INVALID) < 0)
  return log_error_errno(errno, "chown(%s)
failed: %m", path);
  }
  /.../

  Tag v238

  /.../
  if (fchownat(fd,
   "",
   i->uid_set ? i->uid : UID_INVALID,
   i->gid_set ? i->gid : GID_INVALID,
   AT_EMPTY_PATH) < 0)
  return log_error_errno(errno, "fchownat() of %s failed: %m", path);
  /.../

  Any help fixing this problem would be highly appreciated.
  Many thanks,
  Rafael

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1805048] Re: [MS-7A38, Realtek ALC892, Pink Mic, Front] Underruns, dropouts or crackling sound. It's not my microphone, it's every audio input... Audio output is fine

2018-11-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
1. What kind of microphone (and what kind of connections) are you using?

2. Please reproduce the problem again, and then immediately run this
command:

   journalctl -b > journal.txt

   and send us the resulting file 'journal.txt'.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1804986] Re: it appears at startup

2018-11-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1804893] Re: My ubuntu 18.04.1 freeze random

2018-11-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
1. When the system freezes are you still able to move the mouse?

2. Next time you have to reboot after a freeze, please run this command
to gather the log of the previous (frozen) boot:

  journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt

and then attach the file 'prevboot.txt' here.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1804885] Re: Desktop freeze running VirtualBox, Intel graphics

2018-11-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Unfortunately this bug was reported while running an unsupported kernel
(4.20.0-994-generic) so we are unable to support it here.

Please switch back to the standard Ubuntu kernel and then log a new bug
from there by running:

  ubuntu-bug linux

  Desktop freeze running VirtualBox, Intel graphics

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When I start a VirtualBox virtual machine (reproducible with the
  Ubuntu 18.04/VirtualBox 5.2.22 packages from virtualbox.org) with
  VMSVGA emulation and 3D pass-through enabled, my system hangs.
  Sometimes I can recover if I get to a VT fast enough to kill the
  process. Also, the OOM killer sometimes triggers and kills the
  process or gnome-shell, but the OOM killer entries in dmesg look like
  neither of the two are using excessive memory compared to available
  system RAM. When I switch to the Ubuntu drm-tip kernel packages from
  the kernel PPA the problem goes away. Debugging shows that the hang
  occurs during the first glXMakeCurrent call made by the application.
  It did not occur using the standard Ubuntu kernel but running the
  application under apitrace. I can provide the trace if that helps.

Regarding this bug about application windows going black, is that fixed
by using Wayland?

Bug description:
  Intermittently and randomly, all application windows will go black.
  They are still there, and can be interacted with with keyboard
  shortcuts or if you know where to click with the mouse, but they are
  not drawn.

  The launcher itself is still displayed.

  Clicking Show Applications briefly draws the application window before
  switching to the background and application icons. The application
  icons are shown correctly. Selecting one switches to a black window
  for that application. The application window is again briefly
  displayed when dismissing the application icons by again clicking Show
  Applications.

  TTYs work normally.

  Killing gnome (from another TTY) and allowing it to relaunch results
  in a normal display again.

  This is being seen on an hp 6910p. This system also exhibits a
  corrupted lock screen since upgrade to 18.04.01. Neither of these
  behaviors were seen during two years running 16.04.01.

  Chrome is being used. Current 70.00.3538.77 (64-bit). Chrome is the
  most commonly used application on this machine, so it is possible that
  the behavior is being triggered by Chrome, however, the behavior
  affects all applications, including system applications like software
  update and terminal.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1765304] Re: Ubuntu 18.04's ibus package breaks password fields in Firefox (by lowering & raising window whenever they're focused)

2018-11-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
For the record: The fix (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
shell/merge_requests/140) is committed to gnome-shell master, and is
included in gnome-shell version 3.31.2 only, for now.

** Description changed:

+ https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues/391
+
+ ---
+
  tl;dr: starting in Ubuntu 18.04, "ibus" seems to lower and raise
  Firefox, whenever the user tries to focus an
  field on a web page. This is not a regression in Firefox, as the same
  Firefox version runs just fine in Ubuntu 17.10 -- it seems to be a bug
  in ibus, because it only happens (in 18.04) when the environmental
  variable GTK_IM_MODULE is at its default value (which is "ibus"). It
  had this same value in 17.10 but the bug didn't happen there; hence, I'm
  guessing there was a change in ibus (or a related package) that caused
  this breakage / lowering+raising.

- This is pretty bad, because in some cases, the focus-loss can mean users are
simply unable to fill in password fields that previously were working fine.
(see "ACTUAL RESULTS" below)
-
+ This is pretty bad, because in some cases, the focus-loss can mean users

+
  STEPS TO REPRODUCE #1, via "BitWarden" Firefox extension:
  =
- 1. Start Firefox. (fresh profile if you like)
-  2. Install BitWarden from

  it's a bug in ibus, hence filing here now.

  tl;dr: starting in Ubuntu 18.04, "ibus" seems to lower and raise
  Firefox, whenever the user tries to focus an
  field on a web page. This is not a regression in Firefox, as the same
  Firefox version runs just fine in Ubuntu 17.10 -- it seems to be a bug

  gnome-shell pop-up icon for the keyboard backlight appears for both
  keys, but the icon's "progress" bar is not visible.

  Kernel version is linux-image-4.17.0-9-generic

  This is the same in X and Wayland session. In case it matters, Nvidia

  The keyboard backlight works perfectly when booting from the 18.04.1
  desktop live image. When turning on light with 18.04.1, it is off

  Most other important Fn+Fx special keys on this laptop work (display

airplane mode key only fails in gnome-shell but works on the console (this is
filed as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1791367)
  (Not working are a key that seems to mean "display off" and another of
unclear purpose that never worked on any laptop I ever saw, maybe "presentation
mode" as it seems to depict a flip chart or projection screen).

  This was initially opened as #1671606 then later duped to #1639776.
  Discussion in #1639776 indicate that we need new bug for this so I am
  opening one ... Please don't mark this as duplicate to #1639776 or
  other similar bug report. We already lost several months and we are
  again at beginning ...

  TL;DR; -> network-manager-1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4 use DNS defined by
  VPN (correct). network-manager-1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 use DNS from
  DHCP instead of one defined by VPN (wrong).

  DNS resolver should query only DNS servers defined by VPN while
  connection is active.

  =

  Test steps / result:

  - upgraded network-manager to 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
(dnsmasq-base-2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.2)
  - restated my laptop to ensure clean start
  - connected to VPN using openconnect / network-manager-openconnect-gnome

  Observed results -> DNS queries are forwarded only to DNS servers
  defined by LAN connection (this is wrong / connection not working at
  all)

  - "killall dnsmasq"
  - dnsmasq get automatically restarted by system

  Observed results -> most of the the queries are forwarded to DNS
  servers defined by VPN, but lot of queries get forwarded to DNS
  servers defined by LAN connection (this is still wrong / DNS leaks,
  attacker can hijack connection even if VPN is enabled)

  - I downgraded back network-manager to 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4 (dnsmasq-base
stay same)
  - restated my laptop to ensure clean test
  - connected to same VPN using openconnect

  Observed results -> DNS queries are forwarded only to DNS servers
  defined by VPN connection. There are no leaks to LAN DNS server (this
  is correct behavior).

  =

  Paul Smith requested additional details in #1639776. Here are:

  * If you're using IPv4 vs. IPv6
  -> IPv4 only. I have IPv6 set to ignore on all network definition (lan / wifi
/vpn)

  * If you have checked or unchecked the "Use this connection only for
resources on its network"
  -> unchecked on all nw definition

  * If you have this checked, try unchecking it and see if that makes a
difference
  -> no change if I toggle this option. Behavior is same.

  * When you say "DNS lookups" please be clear about whether the hostnames
being looked up are public (e.g., www.google.com or whatever), on your local
LAN, or in the network accessed via the VPN. Does it make a difference which
one you choose?
  -> No difference.

  * Are you using fully-qualified hostnames, or relying on the DNS domain
search path? Does it make a difference if you do it differently?
  -> I normaly use FQDN due to nature of HTTPs cert validation. I don't see
difference when I try same using hostname + domain search.

  =

  I am using openconnect (cisco) and openvpn. Test result are by using
  openconnect but I saw same behaviour also while using openvpn.

  =

  Thanks

  Lukas

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1804847] Re: systemd=229-4ubuntu21.8 use of fchownat failes on some systems (openvz)

2018-11-25 Thread Miha Ravšelj
I have the same issue.

My vps is 16.04.5 LTS(openvz)

This bug however has quite an impact. After reboot sshd server fails to
start since /var/run/sshd folder is not created since systemd-tmpfiles-
setup service failed to start.

I have applied the temporary solution above and can confirm it works ok.

  Hello everyone,
  I'm running 16.04 LTS on a virtual server which, I think, uses OpenVz. After
a recent reboot I found most of my services to be in a failed state. The reason
for that, I guess, are these log entries:

  To verify I tried this:

  /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d# SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug systemd-tmpfiles --create
elasticsearch.conf
  Reading config file "elasticsearch.conf".
  Running create action for entry d /var/run/elasticsearch
  Found existing directory "/var/run/elasticsearch".
  "/run/elasticsearch" has right mode 40755
  chown "/run/elasticsearch" to 120.128
  fchownat() of /run/elasticsearch failed: Invalid argument

  I can manually chown the directories, e.g. "chown
  elasticsearch:elasticsearch /var/run/elasticsearch" and restart the
  service successfully. My suspicion is, this is related to an upgrade
  of systemd to 229-4ubuntu21.8.

  At this point I don't know what to do.

  I'm also confused about the version I have installed, which I thought is
systemd-229. Howver, I looked at
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/v229/src/tmpfiles/tmpfiles.c and found
that fchownat() is only used from version 238+:
  Tag v237 (and earlier, including 229):
  /.../
  if (chown(fn,
i->uid_set ? i->uid : UID_INVALID,
i->gid_set ? i->gid : GID_INVALID) < 0)
  return log_error_errno(errno, "chown(%s)
failed: %m", path);
  }
  /.../

  Tag v238

  /.../
  if (fchownat(fd,
   "",
   i->uid_set ? i->uid : UID_INVALID,
   i->gid_set ? i->gid : GID_INVALID,
   AT_EMPTY_PATH) < 0)
  return log_error_errno(errno, "fchownat() of %s failed: %m", path);
  /.../

  Any help fixing this problem would be highly appreciated.
  Many thanks,
  Rafael

Title:
  Airplane mode key on Asus ZenBook Flip UX561UD laptop not working in
  gnome-shell (X or Wayland) but working on console (Cosmic 18.10)

Status in xkeyboard-config package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Please forgive if filed for wrong package. Problem occurs in X and
  Wayland sessions but not on console, so does not seem to be kernel.

  Repro on Asus UX561UD with Ubuntu 18.10 up to date:
  1. Log into Gnome X or Gnome Wayland session
  2. Press Fn+F2 which is the airplane mode key

  -> Airplane mode should turn on but nothing happens

  3. Switch to console with Ctrl+Alt+F3
  4. Log into console
  5. Press Fn+F2 again
  6. Switch back to GUI session with Ctrl+Alt+F2

  -> Airplane mode is on, icon appeared in Gnome task bar

  Same for turning it off.

  No difference when booting 18.04.1 live image

  This laptop seems not the only one with this problem. I got the idea for
trying the console trick from ArenaL5's answer on Askubuntu, but unfortunately
there is no solution there:
  https://askubuntu.com/questions/972367/airplane-mode-switch-does-not-respond

  Please let me know whatever I can do to help debug this.

  All other Fn+Fx special keys on this laptop work (display brightness,
  touchpad off, sound etc.) except for keyboard backlight, but that
  works with Ubuntu 18.04.1 and I will file a separate bug for this

  The following description is taken from:

  https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+question/676237

  Hello everyone,
  I'm running 16.04 LTS on a virtual server which, I think, uses OpenVz. After
a recent reboot I found most of my services to be in a failed state. The reason
for that, I guess, are these log entries:

  Nov 17 04:47:42 h2118376 systemd-tmpfiles[165]: fchownat() of
/run/elasticsearch failed: Invalid argument

/run/log/journal/bbad3a438f4b4fb49e5d0700bd5981e8/system.journal failed:
Invalid argument

  To verify I tried this:

  /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d# SYSTEMD_LOG_LEVEL=debug systemd-tmpfiles --create
elasticsearch.conf
  Reading config file "elasticsearch.conf".
  Running create action for entry d /var/run/elasticsearch
  Found existing directory "/var/run/elasticsearch".
  "/run/elasticsearch" has right mode 40755
  chown "/run/elasticsearch" to 120.128
  fchownat() of /run/elasticsearch failed: Invalid argument

  I can manually chown the directories, e.g. "chown
  elasticsearch:elasticsearch /var/run/elasticsearch" and restart the
  service successfully. My suspicion is, this is related to an upgrade
  of systemd to 229-4ubuntu21.8.

  At this point I don't know what to do.

  I'm also confused about the version I have installed, which I thought is
systemd-229. Howver, I looked at
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/v229/src/tmpfiles/tmpfiles.c and found
that fchownat() is only used from version 238+:
  Tag v237 (and earlier, including 229):
  /.../
  if (chown(fn,
i->uid_set ? i->uid : UID_INVALID,
i->gid_set ? i->gid : GID_INVALID) < 0)
  return log_error_errno(errno, "chown(%s)
failed: %m", path);
  }
  /.../

  Tag v238

  /.../
  if (fchownat(fd,
   "",
   i->uid_set ? i->uid : UID_INVALID,
   i->gid_set ? i->gid : GID_INVALID,
   AT_EMPTY_PATH) < 0)
  return log_error_errno(errno, "fchownat() of %s failed: %m", path);
  /.../

  Any help fixing this problem would be highly appreciated.
  Many thanks,
  Rafael

Title:
  Ubuntu 18.04's ibus package breaks password fields in Firefox (by
  lowering & raising window whenever they're focused)

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged
Status in ibus package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  tl;dr: starting in Ubuntu 18.04, "ibus" seems to lower and raise
  Firefox, whenever the user tries to focus an
  field on a web page. This is not a regression in Firefox, as the same
  Firefox version runs just fine in Ubuntu 17.10 -- it seems to be a bug
  in ibus, because it only happens (in 18.04) when the environmental
  variable GTK_IM_MODULE is at its default value (which is "ibus"). It
  had this same value in 17.10 but the bug didn't happen there; hence,
  I'm guessing there was a change in ibus (or a related package) that
  caused this breakage / lowering+raising.

  This is pretty bad, because in some cases, the focus-loss can mean users are
simply unable to fill in password fields that previously were working fine.
(see "ACTUAL RESULTS" below)

  STEPS TO REPRODUCE #1, via "BitWarden" Firefox extension:
  =
   1. Start Firefox. (fresh profile if you like)
   2. Install BitWarden from
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bitwarden-password-manager/
   3. Click the BitWarden toolbar icon to spawn a menu-pane.
   4. Click "Log in" at the bottom of that pane.
   5. Click the "Master Password" field.

  ACTUAL RESULTS:
   The menu pane disappears as soon as the Master Password field receives focus.
  EXPECTED RESULTS:
   I should be able to type in a password; pane shouldn't disappear.

  STEPS TO REPRODUCE #2, via Reddit:
  =
   1. Visit https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/ (or any reddit page)
   2. Click "Log in or sign up in seconds" at the extreme upper right of the
page.
(click the "Log in" part of that sentence)
   3. Try to click the password field (or "tab" into it) and type in some text.

  ACTUAL RESULTS:
   Try as you might, the password field never receives focus.
  EXPECTED RESULTS:
   Password field should accept focus & let me type text into it.

  If I run firefox from the command line with env var GTK_IM_MODULE="",
  then I get "expected results". But with the default value of that env
  var, I get "actual results" (broken behavior, unable to enter
  passwords).

  I initially reported this in Firefox, here:
  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1451466 (with a few
  dependent bugs for the usage-specific STR quoted above). But I think
  it's a bug in ibus, hence filing here now.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1804910] Re: pip3 cannot install gmpy

2018-11-25 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting.

I'm a bit confused to the issue. Though I am not familiar with gmpy, it
looks like there are two versions of it available in Ubuntu, gmpy and
gmpy2. While the former doesn't have a python3 package, the latter one
does and this seems to be the maintained version too. That would be
installable through `sudo apt install python3-gmpy2`
(https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/python3-gmpy2).

If for some reason the Ubuntu package doesn't fit or you really need to use the
older gmpy version in combination with Python3 i suppose that might be why the
script attempt to install via pip3 instead of apt. Based on the error message:
  In file included from src/gmpy.c:251:0:
  src/gmpy.h:30:10: fatal error: gmp.h: No such file or directory
   #include "gmp.h"
^~~
  compilation terminated.
  error: command 'x86_64-linux-gnu-gcc' failed with exit status 1
 it looks like it was fetched, but failed to compile while installing. Some
python packages contain C/C++ code to speed up certain parts and looks like
this is one of them. It might be missing some build dependencies, which perhaps
`sudo apt build-dep python-gmpy` (for gmpy1) or `sudo apt build-dep
python-gmpy2` (for gmpy2, though in that case it is probably easier to use the
existing python3-gmpy2 package as described above)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1651433] Re: bluetooth mouse random disconnects

2018-11-25 Thread ipkpjersi
I am not sure if this is the right bug report, but I get random
disconnects with my Edifier W800BT headphones and Orico BTA-408 adapter
on Ubuntu 16.04 with Kernel 4.15.0-39-generic x86_64. Sometimes it
reconnects automatically, other times I have to unplug the adapter and
plug it back in and turn my headphones on and off and sometimes even
manually reconnect with bluetoothctl or blueman-manager.

Bug description:
  I received the Dell XPS 13 DE (9350) accompanied by the WD15 docking station
last September. Ever since I used it with my Logitech MX Master bluetooth mouse.
  This worked very well and reliably for September through November.
  But Since about start of December, it disconnects frequently and without any
apparent reason.
  I can get it back to order by disabling and re-enabling the bluetooth radio
of the notebook. After I re-enable the bt radio and move the mouse it work
immediately without any delay.
  Sometimes it disconnects after 10 seconds. Sometimes I can work for 10 hours
without any disconnect.
  For the entire lifetime the device has been running xenial. Currently I'm on
kernel Linux XPS13ulr 4.4.0-53-generic #74-Ubuntu SMP
  Because the issue started happening at a certain date, I strongly believe
that it was caused by and upgrade, possibly kernel.

  I wanted to see if the same disconnects also happen with other BT devices.
But for as long as I had the Jabra Halo 2 headset connected, also the mouse
worked reliably.
  The mouse is my only BT LE device. Maybe that makes a difference.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1805027] [NEW] systemd-resolved can't resolve Comcast mail server addresses

2018-11-25 Thread Tomdkat
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu release:  18.10
2) systemd-resolved version: (Default latest version that comes with Ubuntu
18.10)
3) Expected behavior: Comcast's POP3 mail server addresses to be resolved to IP
addresses
4) Actual behavior: Comcast's POP3 mail server addresses can't be resolved to
IP addresses

Starting on Monday, November 19, 2018, Comcast made a DNS change related
to its POP3 mail servers (mail.comcast.net and pop3.comcast.net) that
prevent resolved from being able to resolve those domains into IP
addresses. When I try to ping either host (mail.comcast.net or
pop2.comcast.net), I get this error:

tom@deathstar:~$ ping mail.comcast.net
ping: mail.comcast.net: Name or service not known
tom@deathstar:~$

When I manually lookup up the domain, I get these results:

tom@deathstar:~$ nslookup mail.comcast.net

Before November 19, 2018, everything was working fine. The initial
indication there was a problem was Mozilla Thunderbird failed to connect
to Comcast's POP3 mail server. Once I did some investigation, I found
the information above.

I have since disabled system-resolved and have installed "Unbound".
After installing "Unbound", I'm able to ping "mail.comcast.net" without
issue and Mozilla Thunderbird can contact

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1434986] Re: Not working network connection after boot

2018-11-25 Thread Nathan L. Adams
DNS doesn't work for me after reboot either.

My workaround is to manually add DNS entries to /etc/resolv.conf

nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4

I previously tried adding these via gnome-control-center, but it doesn't
respect these settings.

  Directly after boot the network connections are not working. I am

  I have the impression it is related to thee DNS lookup, which waits

  Cycling the connection (disconnect->reconnect) seems to fix the

According to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=692666#c6 this
should be addressed in libinput. So I went ahead an created an issue
there: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/issues/185

Bug description:
  This has been driving me nuts for a while now. The scroll wheel on my
  desktop mouse (it's an MS wireless optical mouse model 1008) scrolls
  rather fast. Instead of moving a few lines, it scrolls half a page or
  more with a very gentle scroll. The bluetooth mouse I use with my
  laptop does not do this so it's probably somewhat hardware specific.
  However, I'm wondering if there is a way to modify the speed or
  sensitivity. I found an answer here from about a year ago
  (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/1339) that suggests
  there isn't a way but I'm wondering if anything has changed since
  then. I've also skimmed through synaptic but didn't see anything
  promising (like gsynaptic for touchpads).

  Thanks.

  See https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/9200 for more
  information.

I just encountered the problem again, after upgrading to libpinyin-1.10.0, but
we can temporarily
solve the problem if we delete this two file:

and I got in this bug again, after deleting it for about 20 days

  I have experienced random ibus-libpinyin crashes in bionic. I cannot

  Ubuntu Chinese forum.

  Currently, the workaround is to delete the ~/.cache/ibus/libpinyin

  I talked to Peng Wu, ibus-libpinyin's creator and main maintainer, he
  suggested that we update the version of ibus-libpinyin to 1.10.

  Can we give this update a trial?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1765304] Re: Ubuntu 18.04's ibus package breaks password fields in Firefox (by lowering & raising window whenever they're focused)

2018-11-25 Thread Behrang
Backport the fix please: https://github.com/ibus/ibus/issues/2002

You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1765304

Title:
  Ubuntu 18.04's ibus package breaks password fields in Firefox (by
  lowering & raising window whenever they're focused)

Status in ibus package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
