Bug description:
  [Impact]
  initramfs created with MODULES=dep or kdump initrd won't boot a system with
root filesystem on a multipath nvme.

  [Test case]
  Systems with nvme multipath were able to boot with the created initramfs.
Also tested on systems with non-multipath nvme, and non nvme systems.

  In order to verify the fix, one needs to change MODULES option to dep
  on /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf, recreate initramfs and reboot,
  check the system has booted fine. That should not break on systems
  with non nvme disks or systems with non multipath nvme systems, and
  that should now work on multipath nvme systems.

  sed -i /MODULES=/s,=.*,=dep, /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf
  update-initramfs -u -k all
  reboot

  [Regression potential]
  A system could fail to boot because the generated initramfs was broken. The
code should just add modules, which is safer than removing modules or doing any
other changes. In any case, it was tested to boot on multipath nvme, non
multipath nvme and non nvme systems.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1828617] Re: Hosts randomly 'losing' disks, breaking ceph-osd service enumeration

2019-05-22 Thread Xav Paice
Just one update, if I change the perms of the symlink made (chown -h)
the OSD will actually start.

After rebooting, however, I found that the links I had made had gone
again and the whole process needed repeating in order to start the OSD.

Title:
  Hosts randomly 'losing' disks, breaking ceph-osd service enumeration

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 18.04.2 Ceph deployment.

  Ceph OSD devices utilizing LVM volumes pointing to udev-based physical
devices.
  LVM module is supposed to create PVs from devices using the links in
/dev/disk/by-dname/ folder that are created by udev.
  However on reboot it happens (not always, rather like race condition) that
Ceph services cannot start, and pvdisplay doesn't show any volumes created. The
folder /dev/disk/by-dname/ however has all necessary device created by the end
of boot process.

  The behaviour can be fixed manually by running "#/sbin/lvm pvscan
  --cache --activate ay /dev/nvme0n1" command for re-activating the LVM
  components and then the services can be started.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1830029] Re: nouveau driver for nvidia is sluggish on GTX970M to the point of unusability

2019-05-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
You appear to be using a kernel parameter ('nomodeset') which will
definitely break the nouveau driver and prevent it from working. To fix
this, please:

1. Edit /etc/default/grub and remove 'nomodeset'.

2. Run: sudo update-grub

3. Reboot

Bug description:
  I am trying to use the nouveau drivers on a recent (today) install of
  18.04 on a 2.5yo laptop. Unfortunately the nvidia drivers don't work
  at all.

  What I am finding is that the sluggishness of the display is
  comparable to the case when nouveau drivers are disabled. The only
  real difference is in the amount of noise coming from the fan because
  of a slightly reduced CPU load due to Xorg.

  I don't even know where to start looking into this intelligently, but
  I would have expected that the drivers would have gotten to a usable
  state in the past 2 1/2 years since I last tried them on this machine.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1828617] Re: Hosts randomly 'losing' disks, breaking ceph-osd service enumeration

2019-05-22 Thread Xav Paice
I'm seeing this in a slightly different manner, on Bionic/Queens.

We have LVMs encrypted (thanks Vault), and rebooting a host results in
at least one OSD not returning fairly consistently. The LVs appear in
the list, however the difference between a working and a non-working OSD
is the lack of links to block.db and block.wal on a non-working OSD.

See https://pastebin.canonical.com/p/rW3VgMMkmY/ for some info.

If I made the links manually:

cd /var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-4
ln -s
/dev/ceph-wal-4de27554-2d05-440e-874a-9921dfc6f47e/osd-db-7478edfc-f321-40a2-a105-8e8a2c8ca3f6
 block.db
ln -s
/dev/ceph-wal-4de27554-2d05-440e-874a-9921dfc6f47e/osd-wal-7478edfc-f321-40a2-a105-8e8a2c8ca3f6
 block.wal

This resulted in a perms error accessing the device
"bluestore(/var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-4) _open_db
/var/lib/ceph/osd/ceph-4/block.db symlink exists but target unusable:
(13) Permission denied"

I tried to change the perms to ceph.ceph ownership, but no change.

I have also tried (using `systemctl edit lvm2-monitor.service`) adding
the following to lvm2, but that's not changed the behavior either:

# cat /etc/systemd/system/lvm2-monitor.service.d/override.conf
[Service]
ExecStartPre=/bin/sleep 60

  Hosts randomly 'losing' disks, breaking ceph-osd service enumeration

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1823516] Re: Nvidia driver installed but X apps are using software rendering (LLVMpipe) in Wayland sessions

2019-05-22 Thread Bryan Quigley
Couldn't find a bug, but it's described as a known issue here:
https://blogs.gnome.org/uraeus/2019/04/03/preparing-for-fedora-
workstation-30/

Given the description above it seems to be waiting on a new nvidia
driver - still an issue on 430.14.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1754671] Re: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression

2019-05-22 Thread dwmw2
On the 1.10.14 regression simply making those dns-priority/dns-
search settings the *default* behaviour for a full-tunnel VPN would
appear to be the correct thing to do (i.e. use the DNS of a full-tunnel
VPN for *all* lookups), and I think it should resolve the problems
people were seeing.

  When using a VPN the DNS requests might still be sent to a DNS server outside
the VPN when they should not

  [Test case]
  1) Set up a VPN with split tunneling:
a) Configure VPN normally (set up remote host, any ports and options needed
for the VPN to work)
b) Under the IPv4 tab: enable "Use this connection only for the resources
on its network".
c) Under the IPv6 tab: enable "Use this connection only for the resources
on its network".

  2) Connect to the VPN.

  3) Run 'systemd-resolve --status'; note the DNS servers configured:
a) For the VPN; under a separate link (probably tun0), note down the IP of
the DNS server(s). Also note the name of the interface (link).
b) For the "main" connection; under the link for your ethernet or wireless
devices (wl*, en*, whatever it may be), note down the IP of the DNS server(s).
Also note the name of the interface (link).

  4) In a separate terminal, run 'sudo tcpdump -ni
  port 53'; let it run.

  5) In a separate terminal, run 'sudo tcpdump -ni
  port 53'; let it run.

  6) In yet another terminal, issue name resolution requests using dig:
a) For a name known to be reachable via the public network:
   'dig www.yahoo.com'
b) For a name known to be reachable only via the VPN:
   'dig '

  7) Check the output of each terminal running tcpdump. When requesting
  the public name, traffic can go through either. When requesting the
  "private" name (behind the VPN), traffic should only be going through
  the interface for the VPN. Additionally, ensure the IP receiving the
  requests for the VPN name is indeed the IP address noted above for the
  VPN's DNS server.

  If you see no traffic showing in tcpdump output when requesting a
  name, it may be because it is cached by systemd-resolved. Use a
  different name you have not tried before.

  [Regression potential]
  The code change the handling of DNS servers when using a VPN, we should check
that name resolution still work whne using a VPN in different configurations

  -

  In 16.04 the NetworkManager package used to carry this patch:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~network-manager/network-manager/ubuntu/view/head:/debian/patches/Filter-DNS-servers-to-add-to-dnsmasq-based-on-availa.patch

  It fixed the DNS setup so that when I'm on the VPN, I am not sending
  unencrypted DNS queries to the (potentially hostile) local
  nameservers.

  This patch disappeared in an update. I think it was present in
  1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4 but was dropped some time later.

  This security bug exists upstream too:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=746422
  It's not a *regression* there though, as they didn't fix it yet

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1754671] Re: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression

2019-05-22 Thread dwmw2
On the switch to using dnsmasq: that decision predates my tenure so I
have limited visibility. I can try to get our IT team to expend effort
in moving to systemd-resolved and see what breaks. It may even be
completely unnecessary in xenial, and is merely inherited to make our
bionic setups less different.

I completely agree with the general observation that they should be
filing bugs upstream and not working around them. But if I tell them
that, I suspect they're going to point at this security regression in
Xenial that still isn't fixed 14 months later, and tell me that working
around things locally is much more effective. Right now, I don't know
that I can tell them they're wrong.

Let's show them the process works, *then* I'll tell them they have to
use it :)

  This issue is blocking the removal of libnm-glib4 (from network-

  Selecting AES-{192,256}-CBC keys to connect isn't working

  * Test case

  1. Start with a working (cleartext or DES-3) private key/cert for a network.
Set up a connection and verify that everything works.
  2. Re-encrypt the key with AES-256 with this command: "openssl rsa -in
working-key.pem -out aes-key.pem -aes256" (the output should have a line
starting with "DEK-Info: AES-256-CBC,")
  3. Delete the settings for the test network and attempt to reconnect using
the new key.

  That should work

  * Regression potential

  That's new code for an extra type of keys, it shouldn't impact
  existing options

  --

  NetworkManager does not appear to support private keys encrypted with
  AES. At the very least, it will not validate such a key in nm-util
  when setting up a WPA 802.1x TLS wifi connection.

  https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/blob/nm-1-10/NEWS

  * Test case

  There is no specific test case for the update, the changelog includes
  some specific bugs which have their own test case, otherwise it's
  important to get testing/feedback from users on desktop & server,
  using IPv4, IPv6, VPN, wifi, eth connections, etc.

  * Regression potential

  The update is non trivial, there are several changes are IPv6 and DNS
  (especially in the context of VPNs) handling so it would be good to
  give those extra testing

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1829566] Re: network-manager 1.10.14-0ubuntu2 ignores systemd-resolved configured dns

2019-05-22 Thread Steve Langasek
Due to the SRU regressions reported in LP: #1829838 and LP: #1829566, I
have reverted this SRU for the moment, restoring network-manager
1.10.6-2ubuntu1.1 to bionic-updates.

network-manager 1.10.14-0ubuntu2 remains available in bionic-proposed
for testing purposes.

Bug description:
  On 18.04.2 the `upgrade network-manager:amd64 1.10.6-2ubuntu1.1
  1.10.14-0ubuntu2` lead to scoped DNS servers defined in
  `/etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/*.conf` being ignored.

  Downgrading with `sudo apt-get install network-
  manager=1.10.6-2ubuntu1.1` has resolved the issue for now.

  Example systemd-resolved conf:

  [Resolve]
  Cache=no
  DNS=127.0.0.54
  Domains=~.local.org.com

  Where 127.0.0.54:53 is bound to a dnsmasq server capable of resolving
  queries in that subdomain.

Bug description:
  I have an OpenVPN connection, and I use the update-systemd-resolved to
  correctly fetch the DNS from the VPN. The issue arose updating my
  Ubuntu 18.04: the script is no longer invoked, and even invoking it
  manually (sudo openvpn myfile.ovpn) does not work anymore, even if in
  that case systemd-resolve --status shows the new DNS on the interface

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1754671] Re: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression

2019-05-22 Thread Steve Langasek
> These systems are using dnsmasq not systemd-resolver.
> This was done for historical reasons; I'm not sure of
> the specific bug which caused that choice.

NetworkManager in Ubuntu 16.04 and earlier defaulted to integrating with
dnsmasq. But on 18.04 and later, this integration has been deliberately
replaced with integration with systemd-resolved. If you are overriding
this default integration to force the use of dnsmasq instead of systemd-
resolved, that is likely not a supportable configuration.

In contrast, any bug in the systemd-resolved integration in 18.04 that
would force you to work around it by switching to dnsmasq is almost
certainly an SRUable bug. If you can find the information about why you
switched to dnsmasq, please report this as a bug against systemd (with
'ubuntu-bug systemd') and provide a link to the bug here.

the DNS server(s). Also note the name of the interface (link).
b) For the "main" connection; under the link for your ethernet or wireless

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~network-manager/network-manager/ubuntu/view/head:/debian/patches/Filter-DNS-servers-to-add-to-dnsmasq-based-on-availa.patch

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1754671] Re: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression

2019-05-22 Thread dwmw2
This is Bionic.

After last week's update to 1.10.14-0ubuntu2 all my VPN users (who are
using dnsmasq) reported that DNS supported working for them while they
were on the VPN. Some internal names were looked up correctly, others
weren't.

I resolved it for them as follows:

$ sudo nmcli con modify "$COMPANY VPN" ipv4.dns-priority -1 ipv4.dns-
search ~.

This matches the observations I made in comment #18 on 2019-02-04.

I believe that with 1.10.6 all $company.com DNS did get sent to the VPN
and it was lookups outside the company search domains which were leaked.
So it was mostly functional, but insecure. Since 1.10.14 it got worse
and many (but not all) of the $company.com lookups are being leaked too.
Which is a functional problem.

(For Xenial, my advice to users has been the same since March 2018 when this
ticket was first filed: tell apt to hold
network-manager_1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.4_amd64.deb and don't let it get updated
until/unless the regression is fixed.)

2019-05-22 Thread Till Kamppeter
dwmw2, the systemd fix was mainly meant for people with standard
configuration where this fix is actually needed and solve the problem.

You are writing that adding "dns-priority=-1;dns-search=~." solves the
problem for you. Where/to which file did you add this? Do you need this
already with the original network-manager version of Bionic (1.10.6) or
do you only need ot after the update (1.10.14)?

2019-05-22 Thread dwmw2
We aren't using systemd-resolver for various historical reasons; we are
using dnsmasq which should be expected to work. It isn't, but we have
manually added the dns-priority=-1;dns-search=~. settings which make it
work, as an emergency deployment when the latest NM update broke things
for everyone.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1754671] Re: Full-tunnel VPN DNS leakage regression

2019-05-22 Thread Till Kamppeter
Unfortunately, the SRU for systemd did not yet get processed. Therefore
I have now uploaded this version of systemd to my PPA so that you can
already test/get your problem solved. Please tell here whether it
actually fixes the bug.

Here is my PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

Please follow this link, follow the instructions in the section "Adding
this PPA to your system", then update your system with the command

sudo apt dist-upgrade

This will update only systemd as I did not upload any other package for
Bionic to my PPA.

Make also sure you have the update of network-manager (1.10.14-0ubuntu2)
installed. Reboot and check whether everything works correctly now.

Title:
  1.10.14-0ubuntu2 breaks DNS propagation from VPN

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I have an OpenVPN connection, and I use the update-systemd-resolved to
  correctly fetch the DNS from the VPN. The issue arose updating my
  Ubuntu 18.04: the script is no longer invoked, and even invoking it
  manually (sudo openvpn myfile.ovpn) does not work anymore, even if in
  that case systemd-resolve --status shows the new DNS on the interface
  correctly.

  As suggested in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
  manager/+bug/120/comments/99, reverting to 1.10.6-2ubuntu1.1 fixes
  the issue.

  Downgrading with `sudo apt-get install network-

  Example systemd-resolved conf:

  DNS=127.0.0.54

Please don't load the bug description with personal opinions. Comment 50
is from an Ubuntu developer expert in the area, explains why this
particular "report" cannot make progress, provides a path forward for
users affected by these symptoms and so is the most relevant for users
first finding this bug to read. Let's not put them off by wording that
makes it seem like nothing can be done.

** Description changed:

  [Triage Notes]

- Apparently fixed on Ubuntu 17.04, nobody caring about LTS versions.
- Please see wall of text on comment 50 for a long excuse.

  When IPv4 Method is set to Automatic VPN, DNS address recieved from
  OpenVPN server do not update resolv.conf.

  the lines:

  script-security 2

  The NonInteractive view of ubuntu-release-upgrader doesn't work so it is hard
to automate upgrade testing.

  [Test Case]
  You need to create a situation where you'll receive a conffile prompt since
the handling of those is broken.

  1) On a bionic system modify /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades so that
Prompt=normal
  2) Test an upgrade from bionic to cosmic or disco i.e. run do-release-upgrade
--frontend DistUpgradeViewNonInteractive
  3) Observe the upgrade hang on the '/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades'
conffifle and the following in /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log
  "2019-05-10 21:21:21,313 WARNING got a conffile-prompt from dpkg for file:

'str'' when trying to write to the conffile"

  With the version of the release-upgrader from -proposed you'll no
  longer observe the upgrade process hanging.

  [Regression Potential]
  The fix is making it so that a byte object is passed to the prompt instead of
a string one so there really isn't one, however additional logging which could
result in a Traceback if the syntax of that is wrong.

are not required for correct authentication and authorization of the

Also, isn't it required to have:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1827842] Re: pulseaudio should not load module-x11-bell in gnome-shell

2019-05-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The request makes sense but I wonder if you saw any user visible impact?
Trying on a recent disco installation, using the 'beep' command or press
tab on a command line reflect the sound selected in gnome-control-center
-> sound

Title:
  pulseaudio should not load module-x11-bell in gnome-shell

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  The package `pulseaudio` installs a startup script in
`/etc/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop`,
  which itself runs `/usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11`,
  which loads a number of x11 related modules in `pulseaudio`.

  One of these modules is `module-x11-bell`,
  which makes `pulseaudio` play a sound each time a system bell is emitted
  (usually by terminal applications, such as bash or vim).

  This is redundant with gnome-shell, which is also able to handle the system
bell
  (through the gsetting key `org.gnome.desktop.sound event-sounds`).

  The gnome system bell is directly configurable by the user (Settings > Sound),
  so it should be preferred over pulseaudio's own system bell.

  I suggest to patch the `/usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11`,
  to avoid loading `start-pulseaudio-x11` if it detects it is running in Gnome
Shell
  (e.g. if GNOME_SHELL_SESSION_MODE is set).

Bug description:
  Booting an azure kernel Cosmic cloud image with multipass on Windows
  10 pro takes a long time. Using systemd-analyze 25 seconds in kernel
  boot time is reported. Digging into this, the kernel boot time is
  actually ~5 seconds, the other 20 seconds before systemd init is
  exec'd is actually in the initramfs. I've instrumented the kernel to
  record the exec and exit times of each process in the kernel and the
  top offending processes in initramfs during boot are:

  Duration PID process
  14.86832 262 /scripts/init-top/console_setup
  2.48749 263 /bin/setfont
  2.45357 268 /bin/setfont
  2.44657 291 /bin/setfont
  2.44392 286 /bin/setfont
  2.43545 279 /bin/setfont
  2.43161 274 /bin/setfont
  1.19233 255 /scripts/init-top/framebuffer

  console_setup is calling setfont 7 times and each time setfint is
  taking more than 2.4 seconds to complete. Also the framebuffer program
  is taking over a second to run.

  For Disco with azure kernel:

  Duration PID process
  14.19028 275 console_setup
  2.39020 276 setfont
  2.34020 281 setfont
  2.32915 293 setfont
  2.32389 289 setfont
  2.32319 285 setfont
  2.32178 297 setfont
  1.11417 268 framebuffer

  For Xenial with generic kernel:

  Duration PID process
  15.01832 232 console_setup
  2.52273 233 setfont
  2.50960 238 setfont
  2.48476 250 setfont
  2.46333 256 setfont
  2.46289 262 setfont
  2.44667 268 setfont
  1.07674 225 framebuffer

  For Xenial with azure kernel:
  15.00529 260 console_setup
  2.49699 261 setfont
  2.47591 292 setfont
  2.47443 266 setfont
  2.47131 286 setfont
  2.46812 280 setfont
  2.45780 274 setfont
  1.07095 253 framebuffer

  so it seems to occur across releases with generic and azure kernels.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1829484] Re: krb5-multidev dependency broken with ESM Trusty Repo

  I am trying to use the nouveau drivers on a recent (today) install of

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1830029] [NEW] nouveau driver for nvidia is sluggish on GTX970M to the point of unusability

2019-05-22 Thread Dan Kortschak
Public bug reported:

I am trying to use the nouveau drivers on a recent (today) install of
18.04 on a 2.5yo laptop. Unfortunately the nvidia drivers don't work at
all.

What I am finding is that the sluggishness of the display is comparable
to the case when nouveau drivers are disabled. The only real difference
is in the amount of noise coming from the fan because of a slightly
reduced CPU load due to Xorg.

I don't even know where to start looking into this intelligently, but I
would have expected that the drivers would have gotten to a usable state
in the past 2 1/2 years since I last tried them on this machine.

Bug description:

  ```
  /usr/bin/apt-get -q -y -o DPkg::Options::=--force-confold install
krb5-multidev
  ...
  The following packages have unmet dependencies:
   krb5-multidev : Depends: libkrb5-3 (= 1.12+dfsg-2ubuntu5.4) but
1.12+dfsg-2ubuntu5.4+esm1 is to be installed
  I assume, due to the equality matches here this means the appropriate
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1830022] [NEW] DirtyCleanInterval should be 0 by default
2019-05-22 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
Public bug reported:
Please consider changing DirtyCleanInterval value to 0 as default.
Otherwise if cupsd crashes due to (e.g. OOM killer) under a heavy
workload even hundreds of jobs may be lost. This concern is backed up by
a real-life scenario and leaves the client sending thousands of jobs
unaware that many of them are lost during a crash.
After cupsd gets restarted it rewinds it's job counter to the last
cached and continues unaware about the jobs accepted and lost.
Having DirtyCleanInterval set to 0 will cause some performance impact,
but not significant under lighter workloads and a completely justified
price for reliability under heavy workloads.
Test scenario:
1. sudo apt install printer-driver-cups-pdf
2. while [ 1 ]; do lp -d PDF somepdf.pdf; done;
3. # on other terminal
   kill -9 $(pidof cupsd)
4. Note last job number and wait for cupsd to be restarted by systemd.
5. Once accepting jobs is resumend the job counter is rewound.
Expected behavior:
Accepted jobs are queued for processing.
Actual behavior:
Some accepted jobs are lost.
  [Impact]
  Package installation turns into an inconsistent state if system is rebooted
in the middle of an apt install/upgrade.
  [Test Case]
  1. User1 at Ubuntu box issues "sudo apt-get upgrade";
  2. User2 at Ubuntu box issues "shutdown -r" or reboots it using the GUI;
  3. System reboots and potentially turns into an inconsistent state.
  [Remarks]
  APT should automatically inhibit system halts/reboots while packages being
installed/removed. A similar behavior to what is shown by unattended-upgrades.
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1821269] Re: [Aspire ES1-131, Realtek ALC255, Mic, Internal] No autoswitch (4-pole combo jack mic doesn't detect)
2019-05-22 Thread Ji-min Hong
@hui.wang
Thank you for reply.
When I didn't plug anything, these were printed.
sudo hdajacksensetest -a
Pin 0x12 (Internal Mic): present = No
Pin 0x14 (Internal Speaker): present = No
Pin 0x17 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x18 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x19 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1a (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1b (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1d (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1e (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x21 (Black Headphone, Front side): present = No
After I plug the apple type 4pole headset, these are printed.
sudo hdajacksensetest -a
Pin 0x12 (Internal Mic): present = No
Pin 0x14 (Internal Speaker): present = No
Pin 0x17 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x18 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x19 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1a (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1b (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1d (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1e (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x21 (Black Headphone, Front side): present = Yes
Like 3pole earphone, all output sound works well. But earset's mic
doesn't work.
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1830000] Re: NVIDIA driver (390) does not allow progress to login screen
2019-05-22 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This sounds like it might be bug 1798790. Please try this workaround:
1. Edit /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and uncomment the line:
   #WaylandEnable=false
2. Reboot
** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => gdm3 (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu)
A further hint comes from syslog which is spammed with systemd trying to
start nvidia-persistenced, which is then killed. This happens hundreds
of times while the machine is up. This except shows one instance.
ok, then it's basically bug #1812746 and an upstream decision, details
on https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/847
** Changed in: glib2.0 (Ubuntu)
Title:
  [ubuntu 19.04]All .desktop configuration files are not opening in
  nautilus
Status in glib2.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Bug description:
  Error : Desktop configuration files are not launching from nautilus but its
working from desktop.
  Occured Error while : made a shortcut and tried to open from nautilus
  Name=Install Niram
  Icon=/home/newtron/Documents/NiramStock/20190107_201717.png
  }
  but it's opening in text editor. Also ubuntu's default examples have this
error and showing it as a normal text file.
  What I've expected : On older versions of nautilus and all versions of
  nemo it directly opens .desktop files from file manager.
  Now  I've modified this bug report and hopefully waiting for an
  answer.
  Tanks
2019-05-22 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, the issue seems to be due to the system
hitting a lack of resources not to e-d-s itself, what other softwares
did you have open/in use at the time? anything likely to make heavy use
of the machine or to be buggy?
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1778844] Re: nvme multipath does not report path relationships
2019-05-22 Thread Andrew Cloke
Thanks for the verification in comment #67. From the comment, I believe this
was verified with bionic. Could you also verify with Cosmic and post your
results?
Thanks.
Bug description:
  [Impact]
  initramfs created with MODULES=dep or kdump initrd won't boot a system with
root filesystem on a multipath nvme.
  [Test case]
  Systems with nvme multipath were able to boot with the created initramfs.
Also tested on systems with non-multipath nvme, and non nvme systems.
  In order to verify the fix, one needs to change MODULES option to dep
  on /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf, recreate initramfs and reboot,
  check the system has booted fine. That should not break on systems
  with non nvme disks or systems with non multipath nvme systems, and
  that should now work on multipath nvme systems.
  sed -i /MODULES=/s,=.*,=dep, /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf
  update-initramfs -u -k all
  reboot
  [Regression potential]
  A system could fail to boot because the generated initramfs was broken. The
code should just add modules, which is safer than removing modules or doing any
other changes. In any case, it was tested to boot on multipath nvme, non
multipath nvme and non nvme systems.
