  Scrolling jumps after switching tabs

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  The bug has to do with mouse scrolling and switching windows; I do not
  know which package it is part of.

  The problem arises when I have two windows of two different
  applications open, such as Google Chrome and a text editor. To
  reproduce the error, I have Google Chrome open initially, then I
  switch tabs (using the shortcut Alt-Tab) to the text editor, then
  scroll around on the text editor. When I Alt-Tab back to Google
  Chrome, my first scroll leads to the page jumping by a large amount
  either up or down before resuming regular mouse scrolling. It is only
  this initial scroll after switching tabs that jumps like this. It also
  happens regardless of whether I use a mouse or the touch pad.

  I also notice, given the same scenario, if I scroll up on the text
  editor, the Google Chrome initial scroll jump will be upward. If I
  scroll down on the text editor, the Chrome jump will be downward. If I
  scroll a lot in the text editor, the Chrome jump will be large. If I
  scroll a small amount in the text editor, the Chrome jump will be
  small.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1864992] Autopkgtest regression report (kmod/24-1ubuntu3.3)

2020-03-20 Thread Ubuntu SRU Bot
All autopkgtests for the newly accepted kmod (24-1ubuntu3.3) for bionic have
finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

systemd/237-3ubuntu10.39 (i386)
linux-hwe-5.0/5.0.0-44.48~18.04.1 (armhf)
ipset/6.34-1 (ppc64el, s390x, amd64, i386, arm64)
chrony/3.2-4ubuntu4.2 (ppc64el, s390x, amd64, armhf, i386, arm64)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,
proceeding afterwards as per the StableReleaseUpdates policy regarding
autopkgtest regressions [1].

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  * There is no impact to the end user but spurious error messages (tons
  of them) causing the perception that something really bad happened:

  Example of one of those tons of messages:

  depmod: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:515 lookup_builtin_file() could
  not open builtin file
  '/lib/modules/5.4.0-14-generic/modules.builtin.bin'

  [Test Case]

  * sudo rm /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/modules.builtin.bin

  * sudo depmod -a -F /boot/System.map-$(uname -r)

  This will cause the spurious error messages because depmod -a -F won't
  have the "modules.builtin.bin" file created. This is a simulation of
  what the linux-modules postinst package does and an example of why the
  messages happen.

  [Regression Potential]

  * We are reverting a debian patch so we will be closer to upstream
  code base.

  * the change is about 2 different priority changes on verbosity, so
  biggest problem would be extra (or fewer) stdout/stderr messages (for
  scripts relying on them, for example).

  * I have tested with kernels 4.15, 5.0 and 5.3 and all of them seemed
  to work fine.

  [Other Info]

  * Original Description:

  During a Focal install from the ISO image several errors like:

  depmod: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:515 lookup_builtin_file() could
  not open builtin file
  '/lib/modules/5.4.0-14-generic/modules.builtin.bin'

  are logged in curtin's install logs. The installed system boots and
  works fine, but the error is clearly something we want to get rid of.

  At first glance this seems related to:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1863261

  but the version of initramfs-tools in both the installer and installed
  system (checked with `chroot /target dpkg -l initramfs-tools` during
  the installation) is 0.136ubuntu1, which should contain Rafael's fix
  for that bug. I wonder if the update-initramfs diversion has a role
  here.

  I verified this happens at least on amd64 and arm64. I'm attaching the full
install logs for a amd64 installation.

  on focal 'ubuntu-bug linux' doesn't automatically collect kernel
  artifacts

Status in apport package in Ubuntu:

Status in apport source package in Focal:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Hello, on focal I ran 'ubuntu-bug linux' to report a kernel issue. The
  issue was filed against linux-signed-5.4 (Ubuntu) rather than linux
  (Ubuntu), and none of the logs usually included with kernel bug
  reports were included.

  After the bug was changed from linux-signed-5.4 to linux, I was
  prompted to run apport-collect by the kernel team's triagebot and that
  worked successfully:

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1861359/+activity

  My guess is that apport needs to be updated to understand a change in
  kernel packaging.

  This problem was reported in Fedora a couple of years ago:
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1201630

  I found out about the problem when the Astrometry program suddenly
  stopped working on jpegs that it was previously able to process. I
  cannot say how "file" is supposed to normally output the data. I only
  found out about this when the program suddenly broke without any
  obvious reason after the upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 to 17.04. Since
  there is another case reported for Fedora I tend to believe that the
  problem is indeed caused by "file".

  log:FAIL: test_crash_setuid_keep (__main__.T)
  log:FAIL: test_crash_setuid_nonwritable_cwd (__main__.T)
  log:FAIL: test_lock_symlink (__main__.T)

  test_get_logind_session is a test failing to keep up with an API
  change. test_core_dump_* is failures to remove partly written core
  files. Both of these are easy fixes, I'll have a MP for them soon.

  test_crash_setuid_* are caused by the dropping of privileges when
  accessing the crashing process's /proc. They seem to be testing
  behaviour now explicitly forbidden by the fix to be honest!

  test_lock_symlink fails because the lock file is now always in
  /var/lock/apport/ and not in $APPORT_REPORT_DIR. I guess we could
  update the test, but is it really worth it after the fix?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1859754] Re: add ucm to make alsa/sof driver work under PA (variants of Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th, Dell cnl and cml machines)

2020-03-20 Thread Hui Wang
@Eddie,

"When I plug in a headset with a mic in the 3.5mm port, it still seems
to use the internal mic instead of that of the headset."

What happens if you manually select usb headset from gnome-sound-
setting->input devices.

Title:
  add ucm to make alsa/sof driver work under PA (variants of Lenovo X1
  Carbon 7th, Dell cnl and cml machines)

Status in HWE Next:
  New
Status in alsa-lib package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed
Status in alsa-lib source package in Bionic:
  Fix Committed
Status in alsa-lib source package in Eoan:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  This ucm is only for Eoan and Bionic, for focal and future versions,
  we plan to integrate the ucm2 instead of this ucm, and the ucm2
  depends on the alsa-lib-1.2.1 and pluseaudio-v14, the ucm2 is under
  developing by the community, is not ready yet.

  [Impact]
  In the oem project, we have a couple of Lenovo and Dell machines which
  connect the digital mic to PCH directly, this design needs the new
  sound driver soc/sof, and this driver can't work under pulseaudio
  automatically, we need to integrate the ucm for the driver, then the
  sof dirver could work under pulseaudio and gnome.

  This ucm is maintained by intel audio team, and it is not upstreamed
  and will not be upstreamed, since the community is developing the ucm2
  which is based on at least alsa-lib-1.2.1 and pulseaudio-v14.0 (still
  under developing), for bionic and eoan, we have to integrate this ucm
  since the alsa-lib version is too low. For focal and future version, we
  are going to integrate the ucm2 after the ucm2 is ready.

  This ucm is already verified in the oem project, now it is time to put it
  into the stock ubuntu.

  [Fix]
  These ucm files are backported from sof_ucm1 branch of
  https://github.com/thesofproject/alsa-ucm-conf.git

  [Test Case]
  Boot the eoan kernel or oem-osp1-bionic kernel, then check the log of
  pulseaudio, the ucm files are loaded successfully, then check the
  gnome-sound-setting, both output and input devices work well.

  [Regression Risk]
  Low, just add some new ucm files, and this will not affect other machines,
  and those new added ucm files are only used by specific machines which enable
  the sof driver.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1868352] [NEW] grub2 2.04-1ubuntu12.2 breaks boot on some machines

2020-03-20 Thread Joseph Yasi
Public bug reported:

2.04-1ubuntu12.2 broke boot on my machine. It doesn't work with kernels
that don't have CONFIG_EFI_STUB=y configured. This really needs to fall
back to the old mode if EFI handover is not supported by the kernel.

Also, after using a kernel with CONFIG_EFI_STUB=y it still failed to
boot one of my machines with root specified by UUID. I was able to
workaround it by manually specifying the boot device with /dev/nvme0n1p2
at the grub menu, and then specifying GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true in
/etc/default/grub.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1868335] [NEW] Sync colord 1.4.4-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2020-03-20 Thread Logan Rosen
Public bug reported:

Please sync colord 1.4.4-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * No-change rebuild with fixed binutils on arm64.
  * Omit colord-sensor-argyll on i386.
The change to omit colord-sensor-argyll on i386 was adopted in Debian.

Changelog entries since current focal version 1.4.4-1ubuntu2:

colord (1.4.4-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Team upload.
  * Bump debhelper to 12 and install the daemons in /usr/libexec
  * debian/rules: Explicitly disable systemd and udev on non-linux architectures
  * debian/control: Bump Standards-Version to 4.5.0 (no further changes)
  * debian/control: Drop docbook-utils from build-dep, this doesn't seems
necessary and add xsltproc instead
  * debian/control: Mark the -dev and gir packages as Multi-arch: same
  * Omit colord-sensor-argyll on Ubuntu/i386.
Thanks to Steve Langasek (Closes: #948540)
  * debian/control: Set Rules-Requires-Root: no
  * debian/watch: Use https:// instead of http://
  * d/p/tests-Make-the-build-reproductible.patch: Make the build reproductible
  * debian/gbp.conf: Set upstream-vcs-tag and make sure patches are not numbered

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1868329] Re: ifupdown does not render viable /etc/network/interfaces on bionic ec2 cloud-images

2020-03-20 Thread Chad Smith
** Description changed:

  Filing this bug for clarification and tracking on Ubuntu Bionic and
  later.

  Canonical cloudimages for Ec2 and other clouds leave an artifact that
  disables /etc/network/interface with the following content:

  # ifupdown has been replaced by netplan(5) on this system. See
  # /etc/netplan for current configuration.
  # To re-enable ifupdown on this system, you can run:
  #sudo apt install ifupdown

  In following the suggested text, installing the ifupdown deb continues
  to leave a broken system because ifupdown.postinst script creates an
  /etc/network/interfaces.d parts directory but does not write out a
  working /etc/network/interfaces file if the file exists on the system.

  This leaves a broken /etc/network/interfaces files which doesn't source
  /etc/network/interfaces.d/* and 3rd parties cannot use the interfaces.d
  parts directory to extend networking config.

  Cloud-init is one of those users of /etc/network/interfaces.d/ for
  rendering system networking on cloud images. Per LP: #1867029
+
+ I have attached ifupdwown-test.sh which exercises this issue on lxc by
+ mocking the CPC cloudimage artifact.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1867972] Re: [FFe] Please accept systemd 245.2-1ubuntu1 to Focal

2020-03-20 Thread Steve Langasek
FFe granted.

** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu)

Title:
  [FFe] Please accept systemd 245.2-1ubuntu1 to Focal

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Focal currently has 244.3-1ubuntu1.

  Upstream released 245 after the Focal Feature Freeze date, but
  updating to v245 will allow us to carry fewer patches in Focal and
  have the latest upstream fixes without cherry-picking the important
  ones.

  The proposed package is tested in Bileto and there are no unfixed regressions
compared to the results of the latest tests.
  https://bileto.ubuntu.com/#/ticket/3801

  The fixed gpsd upload invalidated the default excuses page, but it is still
available at:

https://objectstorage.prodstack4-5.canonical.com/v1/AUTH_39a8dbb93caf4ec889f8a1b7f69885db/bileto-3801-excuses/2020-03-18_14:40:01/3801_focal_excuses.html

  The changelog is not final in the Bileto PPA, the final one is at:

https://code.launchpad.net/~rbalint/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+git/systemd/+ref/ubuntu-focal

  New notable upstream features, such as systemd-homed and systemd-
  repart are _not_ enabled in this upload.

  Please find the full NEWS file at:
  https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/v245/NEWS

  There is one notable failing test, netplan.io's which is failing in
  the release pocket, too. I'd like to have this passing, too, with
  systemd 245 before in migrates to the release pocket.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1864992] Autopkgtest regression report (kmod/26-1ubuntu1.1)

2020-03-20 Thread Ubuntu SRU Bot
All autopkgtests for the newly accepted kmod (26-1ubuntu1.1) for eoan have
finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

cross-toolchain-base-mipsen/unknown (armhf)
systemd/242-7ubuntu3.7 (armhf)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,
proceeding afterwards as per the StableReleaseUpdates policy regarding
autopkgtest regressions [1].

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  * There is no impact to the end user but spurious error messages (tons
  of them) causing the perception that something really bad happened:

  Example of one of those tons of messages:

  depmod: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:515 lookup_builtin_file() could
  not open builtin file
  '/lib/modules/5.4.0-14-generic/modules.builtin.bin'

  [Test Case]

  * sudo rm /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/modules.builtin.bin

  * sudo depmod -a -F /boot/System.map-$(uname -r)

  * Original Description:

  During a Focal install from the ISO image several errors like:

  depmod: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:515 lookup_builtin_file() could
  not open builtin file

Title:
  Package ifupdown breaks network configuration by cloud-init

Status in cloud-init:
  In Progress
Status in ifupdown package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  It appears the `ifupdown` package breaks networking configuration that
  cloud-init would normally handle (?) on both providers. The result, if
  you image an instance with the `ifupdown` package installed, is that
  the image is not bootable by Azure/AWS. I'm not familiar with how
  Azure/AWS/etc use cloud-init for network start up however. I'm filing
  here for now, in case `cloud-init` needs to be more defensive against
  `ifupdown`.

  To reproduce with Packer (I confirmed this method):

  * Add necessary Azure subscription env vars from `ifupdown-bug.json`
  * `packer build ifupdown-bug.json`
  * Try to boot an instance with resulting image
  * Instance will never boot -- more specifically, networking never comes up.
See `boot.log` for an example boot

  To reproduce manually (only a guess, I did not confirm):

  * Boot 18.04 ubuntu instance
  * Install ifupdown
  * Image the instance
  * Try to boot instance using new image
  * Instance won't boot

  I hit this with Packer, creating new images for booting instances in
  scaling groups -- `ifupdown` is brought in by `salt`. If this is
  reproducible via manual installation, there could be some backup
  images/snapshots that are unable to boot though.

  This appears to be because cloud-init network start up operations are
  broken by whatever `ifupdown` sysv/systemd scripts perform on boot.
  With `ifupdown` installed on Azure, `eth0` does not get an IP address,
  the instance never fully boots according to Azure, and it will enter
  an error state. On AWS, the instance boots, but network operations
  like SSH fail.

  The `boot.log` is from Azure. Eventually `cloud-init` gives an
  exception (see `exception.log`), but this seems like a secondary issue
  related to networking being down.

  I did try to upgrade cloud-init using nightly PPAs (version 20.1 I
  believe), but no luck. This is on Ubuntu 18.04 instances from Azure
  marketplace and AWS Canonical AMI, cloud-init version
  `19.4-33-gbb4131a2-0ubuntu1~18.04.1`.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1867972] Re: [FFe] Please accept systemd 245.2-1ubuntu1 to Focal

2020-03-20 Thread Balint Reczey
@vorlon systemd-logind and systemd-nspawn did modprobe in ExecStartPre=
and the new service is a nicer way of expressing the needed modules.

https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/625077264ba01a108386eeea733ee244e6b7ff14

The tracing files will still be present at the old location for backward
compatibility and the new location is the desired location according to the
kernel documentation:

https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/trace/ftrace.txt

...
When tracefs is configured into the kernel (which selecting any ftrace
option will do) the directory /sys/kernel/tracing will be created. To mount
this directory, you can add to your /etc/fstab file:

 tracefs   /sys/kernel/tracing   tracefs defaults0
0

Or you can mount it at run time with:

 mount -t tracefs nodev /sys/kernel/tracing

For quicker access to that directory you may want to make a soft link to
it:

 ln -s /sys/kernel/tracing /tracing

 *** NOTICE ***

Before 4.1, all ftrace tracing control files were within the debugfs
file system, which is typically located at /sys/kernel/debug/tracing.
For backward compatibility, when mounting the debugfs file system,
the tracefs file system will be automatically mounted at:

 /sys/kernel/debug/tracing

All files located in the tracefs file system will be located in that
debugfs file system directory as well.

 *** NOTICE ***
...

The .mount will fail in LXC until the fix for LXD lands and it bind-mounts it.
I can set ConditionVirtualization=!lxc until all supported LXD versions do
that.

Bug description:

  updating to v245 will allow us to carry fewer patches in Focal and

  The proposed package is tested in Bileto and there are no unfixed regressions
compared to the results of the latest tests.

  The fixed gpsd upload invalidated the default excuses page, but it is still
available at:

https://objectstorage.prodstack4-5.canonical.com/v1/AUTH_39a8dbb93caf4ec889f8a1b7f69885db/bileto-3801-excuses/2020-03-18_14:40:01/3801_focal_excuses.html

  The changelog is not final in the Bileto PPA, the final one is at:

https://code.launchpad.net/~rbalint/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+git/systemd/+ref/ubuntu-focal

  New notable upstream features, such as systemd-homed and systemd-
  repart are _not_ enabled in this upload.

  Please find the full NEWS file at:

  There is one notable failing test, netplan.io's which is failing in

  systemd 245 before in migrates to the release pocket.

2020-03-20 Thread Steve Langasek
That documents the new systemd units in the changelog, but doesn't
explain what the impact is of these changes. There don't appear to have
been any modprobe calls from systemd units previously, what calls have
been moved to these units? All modprobe calls previously handled
internally to udev?

According to the changelog entry, the new tracing .mount is mounting
tracefs at a different location than I have here already mounted by
default, what's the impact of that?

@vorlon I've updated debian/changelog mentioning those two new features.
They are indeed missing from NEWS.

The debug files are only in .ddebs, I've attached a pairwise debdiff on
.debs.

any more information available about these? adding new mounts seems
worthy of a callout but there's no mention of it in the 245 news.

A little confusing to have this as a debdiff over the .changes rather
than individual .debs; I assume these bits are only in the dbgsyms
package, not in the main systemd package.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1868310] [NEW] configure_networking fails if dhcp provides no domain search path

2020-03-20 Thread dann frazier
Public bug reported:

configure_networking() always returns an error for me. Using 'set -x', I
observed the following at the end of a test script:

+ for n in $ns_addrs
+ '[' ', ' = '["192.168.122.1", ' ']'
+ continue
+ alist='["192.168.122.1"]'
+ '[' -n '' ']'
+ echo '  nameservers:'
+ echo 'addresses: ["192.168.122.1"]'
+ '[' -n '' ']'

Which corresponds to this line of code in _render_netplan():

[ -n "$slist" ] && echo "search: $slist"

I noticed that my dhcp server (default libvirt net) does not provide a
domain search path, which is triggering this. If I move my VM to a
network w/ a DHCP server that *does* provide this search path, it
continues fine.

** Affects: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Assignee: dann frazier (dannf)
 Status: In Progress

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1859754] Re: add ucm to make alsa/sof driver work under PA (variants of Lenovo X1 Carbon 7th, Dell cnl and cml machines)

2020-03-20 Thread Eddie Dunn
@hui.wang

I'm not sure that I should file a bug against the Linux kernel; My USB
headset works fine on 5.3.0-43-generic if I *don't* install libasound2
from your PPA.

  add ucm to make alsa/sof driver work under PA (variants of Lenovo X1

Status in alsa-lib package in Ubuntu:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1868286] [NEW] Disable A2DP when switch input device

2020-03-20 Thread Gabriel Pérez
Public bug reported:

Hi,

How to reproduce:

1) Connect the headset via Bluetooth
2) Automatically will use A2DP (until here everything ok)
3) Go to sound settings, will be the "internal microphone" selected. Switch to
use the microphone of the headset and will switch to low-quality audio HSP

Happens with the upgrade: bluez:amd64 (5.50-0ubuntu4 -> 5.50-0ubuntu5).
Before that upgrade, everything was working fine. Only the automatic
selection of A2DP fails sometimes but the microphone and A2DP were
possible to use. After the mentioned upgrade to 5.50-0ubuntu5, it's just
impossible to use the microphone and the A2DP audio at the same time.

When I do the switch in the input device in the syslog it's the
following message:

kernel: Bluetooth: hci0: SCO packet for unknown connection handle 0

I tried to downgrade to 5.50-0ubuntu4 but didn't work, the A2DP is not
usable at all.

pulseaudio[8370]: Refused to switch profile to a2dp_sink: Not connected

Description:Ubuntu 19.10
Release:19.10
Device: LE_WH-H900N (h.ear)

Hello Paride, or anyone else affected,

Accepted kmod into eoan-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmod/26-1ubuntu1.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
eoan to verification-done-eoan. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-eoan. In either case, without details of your testing we will not
be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  * There is no impact to the end user but spurious error messages (tons
  of them) causing the perception that something really bad happened:

  Example of one of those tons of messages:

  depmod: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:515 lookup_builtin_file() could
  not open builtin file
  '/lib/modules/5.4.0-14-generic/modules.builtin.bin'

  [Test Case]

  * sudo rm /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/modules.builtin.bin

  * sudo depmod -a -F /boot/System.map-$(uname -r)

  * Original Description:

  During a Focal install from the ISO image several errors like:

  depmod: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod.c:515 lookup_builtin_file() could
  not open builtin file

  [Toshiba NB250] Integrated speakers always muted

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Speakers are muted at boot and remains muted after plug and unplug
headphones. Only can be activated from alsamixer, unmuting the headphones while
the headphones are unplugged. Both speakers and
  headphones muting seems to be controlled in the Headphones area using
alsamixer.

  Same problem in pulseaudio 1:11.1-1ubuntu7.4 on Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia
  base: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic.

  I've "solved" it Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia in a not very good way,
  keeping automute activated in alsamixer, modifiyng
  /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-headphones.conf
  and executing a bash script at boot (sonido.sh) with the command
  "amixer set -c 0 Headphone unmute 100%" in order to prevent the
  speakers being muted.

  There are some issues reported to pulseaudio manteiners. Not the same

  Hello, I had problems with subiquity in the focal live server install

  ubuntu-bug apparently cannot file bug reports against snaps.

  This is frustrating that users need to know which portions of Ubuntu
  are delivered via debs, which portions are delivered by snaps, and try
  to find a way to report bugs correctly.

  ubuntu-bug should know how to report bugs for Canonical software.

  Thanks

[Touch-packages] [Bug 962082] Re: Profiles that require duplex audio like Head Set (HSP) and Hands Free (HFP) do not work on machines with Broadcom BCM20702A0 Bluetooth chips

2020-03-20 Thread Mauro
@Tim Abell (comment #18): I also have D-Link DBT-122. AD2P works fine, while I
have no audio in HSP/HFP mode in Xenial. I didn't try the mic, but I bet it
doesn't work either.
On the net I see that the Mac recognize this adapter as a Broadcom BCM2035.
Did you find a solution? Is there any firmware for this to fix the proble? Any
help from anyone would be appreciated.

Status in HWE Next:

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  This problem seems to occur on every device that uses the BCM20702A0
  Bluetooth hardware.

  How to reproduce:

  (1) Pair a bluetooth headset with a machine equipped with a BCM20702A0.
  (2) Activate the device. Usually there is a button on the headset you should
press to notify the bluetooth stack that you're ready to use the device. This
creates SCO link and the plumbs the audio components.
  (3) Open the sound settings tool and select the bluetooth device under the
"Input" and "Output" tabs. Under each tab you should see a table with an entry
that has a headset icon on the left with the bluetooth device name to the
right. This is the item to select.

  Now, everything should be configured so that you can use your
  bluetooth device to hear and record audio. Test this by:

  Testing Input:

  (1) In the sound settings tool, select the "Input" tab.
  (2) Make sure the "Input Volume" is not muted and the scale widget is not set
to zero.
  (3) Make sounds into the headset mic -- you should see the "Input Level" bar
raise.

  Testing Output:
  In the same program:
  (1) Select the "Hardware" tab.
  (2) In the box labeled "Choose a device to configure", select your bluetooth
device.
  (3) A combobox should appear at the bottom of the window labeled "Settings
for the selected device". Choose "Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP)".
  (4) Now click on the "Test Speakers" button to the right.
  (5) Run speaker test. You should hear a sound.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1868210] Re: [SRU] Load ucm on Lenovo notebooks based on bios version

2020-03-20 Thread Hui Wang
This is for eoan. Since focal will use the alsa-lib-1.2.1.2 and it
already switch to use ucm2, so this SRU doesn't apply to focal, only for
eoan and bionic.

** Patch added: "alsa-lib_1.1.9-0ubuntu1.3.debdiff"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-lib/+bug/1868210/+attachment/5339265/+files/alsa-lib_1.1.9-0ubuntu1.3.debdiff

** Also affects: alsa-lib (Ubuntu Eoan)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: alsa-lib (Ubuntu Eoan)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Changed in: alsa-lib (Ubuntu Eoan)
   Importance: Undecided => High

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  On some lenovo notebooks, ucm files are not loaded and mic can't be used

  [Fix]
  UCM was loaded based on cardlongname, but that can't cover all configs of the
same model. Lenovo suggested to load ucm by the first 3 letters of
/sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/bios_version, so that all configs could use just
one ucm.

  [Test Case]
+ after applying this patch, I installed the testing alsa-lib on lenovo X1C7
and Dell vostro5390 which are all machines with the dmic connected to pch,
after booing up, I checked the /usr/share/alsa/ucm/, the LENOVO-BIOSID-xxx
folders are there, and the LENOVO machine loaded the N2H/*.conf, it worked
well, the Dell machine still loaded the ucm by cardname, it worked as good as
before.

  [Regression Potential]
+ low, just add some new ucms and let LENOVO machine find the ucm by
bios_version if it fails by cardlongname. And already tested the change on
lenovo and dell machines.

Status in alsa-lib source package in Eoan:
