Bug description:
  [Impact]
  On the machines with AMD Ryzen acp audio design, the audio can't work
  anymore after upgrading the libasound2 to ubuntu3(groovy)/ubuntu2.1(
  focal), this is a regression on libasound2 for those machines. the AMD
  Ryzen acp audio card needs to load ucm to work with pulseaudio, but
  this audio card doesn't have an independant ucm for it, it needs to
  link to an existing HDA-Intel ucm, the check_empty_configuration() needs
  to cover the situation that Linked is true, otherwise it will fail
  to load the ucm for the audio card. Even the audio card could load the
  ucm, the output is muted and the init output volume is too low if
  freshly install the OS on these machines.

  [Fix]
  Backport 1 alsa-lib patch to fix the failure of loading ucm on AMD
  Ryzen acp audio machines. Backport 4 alsa-ucm-conf patches to fix
  init mute and init output volume problem.

  [Test Case]
  Install the updated libasuond2, rm ~/.config/pulse/*; sudo rm -rf
  /var/lib/alsa/*; sudo sh -c 'echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger' and run pacmd
  list-cards, we could see the pulseaudio load the ucm successfully and we
could see
  the sound card is generated and all output and input devices are listed
  under sound card, but the init output is muted and the volume is very low
  if we manually unumte it. Now install the updated alsa-ucm-conf, rm
~/.config/pulse/*; sudo rm -rf
  /var/lib/alsa/*; sudo sh -c 'echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger', the output is
  not muted anymore and the output volume is OK to most users.

  [Regression Risk]
  This could make the machines with sof audio driver fail to load ucm
  , then all audio function can't work as before, like the speaker can't
  output sound or the internal mic can't be found or can't record sound.
  But this possibility is very low, I tested this SRU on some machines with or
  without sof audio driver, all worked as well as before.

  After logging in, only a dummy device is available for audio playback
(resulting in no audible playback). When running "pactl load-module
module-detect" the sound card shows up, and playback works as expected.

  If pulseaudio is restarted with "pulseaudio -k" the playback device
  disappears again. Running the above command get things working again.

  If I change the following section in /etc/pulse/default.pa from:

  ### Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available
  .ifexists module-udev-detect.so
  load-module module-udev-detect
  .else
  ### Use the static hardware detection module (for systems that lack udev
support)
  load-module module-detect
  .endif

  To:

  ### Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available
  #.ifexists module-udev-detect.so
  #load-module module-udev-detect
  #.else
  ### Use the static hardware detection module (for systems that lack udev
support)
  load-module module-detect
  #.endif

  Things start working as they should after running "pulseaudio -k".

2020-11-13 Thread Nick Price
Oh, as mentioned elsewhere, the microphone light on the keyboard doesn't
seem to turn off/on as expected, but this may be an issue elsewhere
(FWIW it works as expected under a current Fedora install on this
system)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1901922] Re: [SRU][Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 1] No sound output device on startup

2020-11-13 Thread Nick Price
Did a fresh install of Groovy on an affected machine and updated it to
the latest release packages first, and confirmed the audio issue still
existed.

I then installed the packages above and rebooted, and audio seems to be
working as expected on that system now.

I think that did the trick!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 942856]

2020-11-13 Thread Andre Klapper
bugzilla.gnome.org is being shut down in favor of a GitLab instance.
We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which
have not seen updates for a long time.

If you still use NetworkManager and if you still see this bug / want
this feature in a recent and supported version of NetworkManager, then
please feel free to report it at
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/issues/

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be
implemented (workforce and time is unfortunately limited).

Title:
  NetworkManager does not support AES-encrypted private keys for WPA
  802.1x authentication

Status in NetworkManager:
  Expired
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  * Impact

  Selecting AES-{192,256}-CBC keys to connect isn't working

  * Test case

  1. Start with a working (cleartext or DES-3) private key/cert for a network.
Set up a connection and verify that everything works.
  2. Re-encrypt the key with AES-256 with this command: "openssl rsa -in
working-key.pem -out aes-key.pem -aes256" (the output should have a line
starting with "DEK-Info: AES-256-CBC,")
  3. Delete the settings for the test network and attempt to reconnect using
the new key.

  That should work

  * Regression potential

  That's new code for an extra type of keys, it shouldn't impact
  existing options

  --

  NetworkManager does not appear to support private keys encrypted with
  AES. At the very least, it will not validate such a key in nm-util
  when setting up a WPA 802.1x TLS wifi connection.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1818918] Re: gdb doesn't search in debug-file-directory for .gnu_debugaltlink

2020-11-13 Thread Tiago Stürmer Daitx
So the issue is: if there is a .gnu_debugaltlink GDB will try to load
that file and throw an error if it can't. That path is absolute and GDB
does _not_ look for that path/file anywhere else, not even inside
'debug-file-directory'.

GDB seems to only look at section .gnu_debugaltlink in debug/.build-
id/nn/nn.debug, it does not seem to use that section from the binary
at all.

Due to that, another workaround is to modify that section to point to
the 'right' place:

1) use objcopy to dump .gnu_debugaltlink from debug/.build-id/nn/nn.debug
into a file
2) use sed to modify the path in the dump file
3) use objcopy to update .gnu_debugaltlink section in
debug/.build-id/nn/nn.debug

As in:
$ objcopy --dump-section .gnu_debugaltlink=altlink
/tmp/dbgsym/usr/lib/debug/.build-id/76/e9f820204912084fd156c593b2c92f1a4b51f1.debug
$ sed -i 's:^:/tmp/dbgsym:' altlink
$ objcopy --update-section .gnu_debugaltlink=altlink
/tmp/dbgsym/usr/lib/debug/.build-id/76/e9f820204912084fd156c593b2c92f1a4b51f1.debug

Ah, my apologies - I had mis-interpreted the reversion as applying to
the SRU. I've no issue with a reversion in hirsute, provided it doesn't
delay existing users from using their Bluetooth hardware.

I estimate, as I think several others do judging by various comments,
that the patches in their current state don't stand much chance of
passing muster upstream, and I have no desire to waste their time with a
premature submission. At the very least, some justification needs adding
to the 1 second sleep: either a datasheet reference, which I've so far
failed to find, or some empirical measurements that it's actually
required (which I'm in the process of gathering; I've verified *a* delay
is required but not the minimum, or whether it can be combined with the
post-load nanosleep), along with evidence it doesn't break any existing
platforms (I've found a datasheet reference to back that bit up, but
tests are good too).

Anyway, sorry I mis-interpreted the release your action applied to; I
look forward to seeing the SRU land.

In the meantime, rest assured a submission will be made upstream as soon
as I think I've got a faint hope of it passing!

Title:
  [SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged
Status in bluez source package in Hirsute:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  Without these patches, Bluetooth is inoperable on the recently
  released Raspberry Pi 400.

  [Test Case]

  * Boot the Ubuntu Desktop for Pi image on a Pi 400.
  * Start the Settings application and switch to the Bluetooth tab
  * Verify that Bluetooth is not enabled and attempting to activate it fails
  * sudo add-apt-repository ppa:waveform/pi-bluetooth
  * sudo apt update
  * sudo apt install bluez
  * sudo reboot
  * Start the Settings application and switch to the Bluetooth tab
  * Verify that Bluetooth is active and that Bluetooth devices (e.g. mice,
mobile phones, headphones, etc.) can connect and operate correctly

  [Regression Potential]

  Extremely low (on groovy in particular, this has the same version of
  bluez as hirsute). The only significant risk is to non-Pi platforms or
  dongles which also use the Broadcom 43xx (or Cypress 305) chips for
  Bluetooth which might be inadvertently affected by these patches.

  [Original Description]

  The new Pi 400 has a slightly different Wifi/BT chip to the Pi4.
  Whilst wifi works happily, Bluetooth fails to operate. This doesn't
  appear to be an issue with either the firmware (the latest versions
  from upstream Raspbian have been tried), or the kernel (a known-good
  raspi kernel has been tested under Ubuntu), but with Bluez itself.
  Specifically, tracing the initialization with btmon on Raspbian and
  Ubuntu, the stack consistently fails when attempting to "Set Default
  PHY" on the latter. Curiously, under Ubuntu the adapter also appears
  to lack a MAC address.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1818918] Re: gdb doesn't search in debug-file-directory for .gnu_debugaltlink

2020-11-13 Thread Tiago Stürmer Daitx
I tried the testcase from comment #12 in Focal and Hirsute and it worked
just fine:

If the dbgsym is installed and I use (with intentional typo):
set debug-file-directory /tmp/dbgsym/usr/lib/debugnot:/usr/lib/debug
it then loads symbols correctly from /usr/lib/debug

Note, this was tested under Focal (host) and Hirsute (lxd container).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1904251] [NEW] Ping interval depends on the system's locale

2020-11-13 Thread Governa
Public bug reported:

iputils-ping:
  Installato: 3:20190709-3
  Candidato:  3:20190709-3

 *** 3:20190709-3 500

lsb_release -rd:
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS

Release:20.04

ping is using the current locale to interpret the interval value:

ping -i 0.3 localhost

fails with "ping: bad timing interval: 0.3"
while this works:

ping -i 0,3 localhost

This also works:
LANG=en ping localhost -i .3

It seems similar to a 2015 bug from Fedora:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1888598] Re: pulseaudio breaks hdmi audio on sleep/wake in ubuntu 20.10

2020-11-13 Thread Tessa
additional behaviour I've noticed:

on first boot, when the sound device isn't in use for a while, it stops
sending bitstream data to the receiver, until there's a new audio event.
it seems to be some sort of device sleep mode.

on 20.04, after resuming from sleep, this device sleep mode wouldn't
activate again. on 20.10, it activates after sleep, but if it does,
about half the time it breaks the sound output and i have `pulseaudio
-k` to get things back to a usable state.

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  on a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 x64 install, I've noticed some troubling bugs
  with pulseaudio after putting my system to sleep and then waking it
  up. these bugs aren't present on a fresh boot, only after resuming
  from sleep:

  - it forgets which sound output device it's set to, and always reverse to the
motherboard's S/PDIF output.
  - I have two devices connected to my video card, one is a displayport
monitor, and one is a home theater receiver via HDMI. it confuses the two, and
randomly switches which device it thinks is capable of surround sound.
  - it sometimes refuses to switch to the correct audio device, and just resets
any choice back to the internal S/PDIF, until the system is rebooted.

  as you can imagine, this a pretty frustrating state of affairs.

Bug description:
  After performing a recent update, I am encountering a complete system

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1904230] [NEW] System freeze after logging onto desktop session

2020-11-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After performing a recent update, I am encountering a complete system
freeze shortly after logging on to a graphical session but only for a
single user (which may suggest a corrupted configuration file
somewhere). This is repeatable - happens every time I attempt to login.
The desktop is LXDE however it also occurs with Openbox as well.
Furthermore, it also happens when launching a desktop with vncserver
which suggests it is not a graphics driver issue.

I've tried deleting (renaming) the .config and .cache folders in the
account, neither of these have had any effect.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1901922] Please test proposed package

2020-11-13 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Johan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted alsa-ucm-conf into focal-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-ucm-
conf/1.2.2-1ubuntu0.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

  Getting a link error when trying to build Wireshark from source on
  Ubuntu Focal. I need to build Wireshark for plugin development.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Obtain source code from https://gitlab.com/wireshark/wireshark
  2. Install build dependencies as per CI ./tools/debian-setup.sh
--install-optional --install-test-deps -y
  3. mkdir build
  4. cmake ..

  Those two symbols are not present in any of the other libnl libraries,
  static or dynamic.

  libnl-route-3-200:amd64: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnl-route-3.so.200.26.0

  I can build and install libnl-3.2.25 from source and I don't get the
  linking issues anymore if I replace the .so files installed by the
  .debs, so it's possible that there is soemthing wrong with the
  packaging of libnl-route-3-200.deb.

> 7) Execute "gdb --ex 'file /bin/cat' --ex 'core-file /tmp/cat.core'

Try setting the debug-file-directory first, it should work.
gdb --ex 'set debug-file-directory /tmp/dbgsym/usr/lib/debug:/usr/lib/debug'
--ex 'file /bin/cat' --ex 'core-file /tmp/cat.core'

Still, this does not seem to invalidate the original bug report or the
one in comment #4, as they are setting 'file' and 'core' last. It is
just that comment #12 does not seem to indicate a valid reproducer.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1901922] Please test proposed package

2020-11-13 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Johan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted alsa-lib into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-
lib/1.2.2-2.1ubuntu2.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed

  #.endif

  Things start working as they should after

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903048] Re: [SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

2020-11-13 Thread Iain Lane
The point for me is that we should be trying to avoid taking on
indefinite technical debt (patches that have to be rebased forever).
It's "fine" to include them ahead of any upstream schedule if we need to
for hardware enablement, but we do need to have plans to make this be a
non permanent situation. That's what Seb is asking for, and I'm totally
on board with that.

btw, I don't think it's fair to characterise code review as pedantry

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  Without these patches, Bluetooth is inoperable on the recently
  released Raspberry Pi 400.

  [Test Case]

  * Boot the Ubuntu Desktop for Pi image on a Pi 400.
  * Start the Settings application and switch to the Bluetooth tab
  * Verify that Bluetooth is not enabled and attempting to activate it fails
  * sudo add-apt-repository ppa:waveform/pi-bluetooth
  * sudo apt update
  * sudo apt install bluez
  * sudo reboot

Yes, but that's really something for dpkg upstream to look at, and not
something we should patch out downstream.

  apt cancels holds on uninstalled packages

Bug description:
  When a package is not installed and apt dist-upgrade offers to install
  it, if this is not desired, it is possible to hold the package using
  multiple tools, which puts it in a state documented in dpkg.1 as:

 hold
 A package marked to be on hold is kept on the same version, that
 is, no automatic new installs, upgrades or removals will be
 performed on them, unless these actions are requested explicitly,
 or are permitted to be done automatically with the --force-hold
 option.

  Note the "no automatic new installs", suggesting that this is a
  correct and valid use for packages that are not installed. I use "apt-
  mark hold" to put packages in this state.

  This is respected by apt when choosing what to install, but any
  installation causes this state to be lost for uninstalled packages,
  even installations of completely unrelated packages.

  Steps to reproduce:

  - Add a repository to sources.list that adds new essential packages, and run
`apt update`.
  - Observe that `apt dist-upgrade` will want to install new packages.
  - Put the packages on hold, using `apt-mark hold `.
  - Observe that `apt dist-upgrade` will no longer want to install new packages.
  - Install an unrelated package.
  - Observe that `apt dist-upgrade` will again want to install new packages.

  Seen on Ubuntu 20.10, apt 2.1.10.

2020-11-13 Thread David Krauser
@tmolloy, thank you for circling back around. I'm glad the patches worked for
you :-)
Note that there are other (unrelated) packages in @waveform's PPA that may get
installed with an apt upgrade. I don't know what the state of those packages
are. I disabled the PPA after installing bluez, just to be sure I didn't
unintentionally install the other packages.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1901966] Re: Unable to stop at breakpoint in 32-bit executable

2020-11-13 Thread Luis
This doesn't seem to be related to the previous bugs.

I tried to reproduce this on 18.04.4 (I don't have 20.04) and a fresh
build of GDB master, and I couldn't.

(gdb) disass _start
Dump of assembler code for function _start:
   0x00010074 <+0>: mov r7, #4
   0x00010078 <+4>: mov r0, #1
   0x0001007c <+8>: ldr r1, [pc, #12]   ; 0x10090 <_start+28>
   0x00010080 <+12>:ldr r2, [pc, #12]   ; 0x10094 <_start+32>
   0x00010084 <+16>:svc 0x
   0x00010088 <+20>:mov r7, #1
   0x0001008c <+24>:svc 0x
   0x00010090 <+28>:muleq   r2, r8, r0
   0x00010094 <+32>:andeq   r0, r0, lr
End of assembler dump.
(gdb) b _start
Breakpoint 1 at 0x10074: file /tmp/hello.S, line 4.
(gdb) r
Starting program: /tmp/hello

Breakpoint 1, _start () at /tmp/hello.S:4
4   MOV R7, #4

With Ubuntu 18.04.4's GDB it also works.

Can you please turn on debugging and paste the log?

Use "set debug infrun 1" before the run command.

Status in gdb package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  I believe I'm having the problem described in #1846557 and #1848200.
  Those bugs were reported fixed in 8.1.1 but I'm observing them in 9.2
  so I suspect a regression (in fact, if I read the notes correctly, the
  earlier reports were from another regression!).

  I create a new EC2 server on AWS with Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS (64-bit
  Arm) then perform the following installs (not sure what is needed or
  if something is missing):

  ```
  sudo dpkg --add-architecture armhf
  sudo apt update
  sudo apt upgrade -y
  sudo apt install -y build-essential vim binutils-arm-linux-gnueabi \
    gdb libc6:armhf libstdc++6:armhf
  ```

  Then I create hello.s:

  ```
  .text
  .global _start
  _start:
  MOV R7, #4
  MOV R0, #1
  LDR R1, =hello
  LDR R2, =hello_size
  SWI 0
  MOV R7, #1
  SWI 0
  .data
  hello:  .asciz  "Hello world!\n"
  .equhello_size, (.-hello)
  ```

  Then I assemble, link, and run, all with success. Finally, I try to
  debug:

  ```
  $ arm-linux-gnueabi-as -ggdb -mcpu=cortex-a57 -o out.o hello.s
  $ arm-linux-gnueabi-ld out.o -dynamic-linker=/usr/lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3 -o
out
  $ rm out.o
  $ ./out
  Hello world!
  $ gdb out
  (gdb) b _start
  Breakpoint 1 at 0x10074: file hello.s, line 4.
  (gdb) run
  Starting program: /home/ubuntu/280/out
  ```

  At this point everything hangs until I press ^C:

  ```
  ^C
  Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.
  0xba072284 in ?? ()
  (gdb) bt
  #0  0xba072284 in ?? ()
  #1  0x7232 in ?? ()
  Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)
  (gdb) l
  1 .text
  2 .global _start
  3 _start:
  4 MOV R7, #4
  5 MOV R0, #1
  6 LDR R1, =hello
  7 LDR R2, =hello_size
  8 SWI 0
  9 MOV R7, #1
  10SWI 0
  (gdb) q
  A debugging session is active.
   Inferior 1 [process 29234] will be killed.
  Quit anyway? (y or n) y
  $
  ```

  It appears that gdb generally works and recognizes the executable, but
  breakpoints don't work. I'm new at Arm and don't have a lot of
  experience with assembly (at least not since the early 1970s), so it
  could easily be my problem but it seems suspiciously like an earlier
  problem and I think what I've done should work.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1904195] Re: apt cancels holds on uninstalled packages

2020-11-13 Thread Harald van Dijk
You're right btw that it's a dpkg bug, but it's a bit more subtle. The
cleanup that dpkg performs after installation is meant to preserve the
hold state for non-installed packages. This is handled by the
pkg_is_informative function, which classifies everything with "pkg->want
!= PKG_WANT_UNKNOWN" as informative, so would actually preserve hold for
non-installed packages. However, pkg_parse_verify contains logic to fix
up state left by older dpkg versions, without taking into account that
this also includes valid state by current dpkg versions:

  /* XXX: Mark not-installed leftover packages for automatic removal on
   * next database dump. This code can be removed after dpkg 1.16.x, when
   * there's guarantee that no leftover is found on the status file on
   * major distributions. */
  if (!(ps->flags & pdb_recordavailable) &&
  pkg->status == PKG_STAT_NOTINSTALLED &&
  pkg->eflag == PKG_EFLAG_OK &&
  (pkg->want == PKG_WANT_PURGE ||
   pkg->want == PKG_WANT_DEINSTALL ||
   pkg->want == PKG_WANT_HOLD)) {
pkg_set_want(pkg, PKG_WANT_UNKNOWN);
  }

We are now at dpkg 1.20.x, well after 1.16.x. If this block of code is
removed (or at least the pkg->want == PKG_WANT_HOLD condition), direct
installation by dpkg works as expected, and presumably installation
using apt will work as expected as well.

** Also affects: dpkg (Ubuntu)

  ebtables can not rename just created chain

Status in iptables:
  Unknown
Status in iptables package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hi,
  I have an issue with ebtables that affects libvirt.
  While initially found in hirsute I had to realize this is broken in
  Groovy and even Bionic (might be a different reason back then) as well right
now.
  But working in Focal (witch matches my memory of it being good before [1]).

  I was isolating the commands that libvirt runs (identical between Focal
  and Hirsute) to find a simplified trigger. Gladly I found one that leaves
  libvirt and other components out of the equation.
  The following works on focal, but fails on the other releases.

  Note: I checked which tool is in use and in both cases it is
xtables-nft-multi.
  /usr/sbin/ebtables -> /etc/alternatives/ebtables*
  /etc/alternatives/ebtables -> /usr/sbin/ebtables-nft*
  /usr/sbin/ebtables-nft -> xtables-nft-multi*
  So I converted the libvirt issued commands into xtables-nft-multi just to be
  sure in case a system to compare has other alternatives set.

  Focal (Good):
  /usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -N testrule3
  /usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -E testrule3
testrule3-renamed

  Groovy/Hirsute (Fail):
  /usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -N testrule3
  /usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -E testrule3
testrule3-renamed
  ebtables v1.8.5 (nf_tables): Chain 'testrule3' doesn't exists
  Try `ebtables -h' or 'ebtables --help' for more information.

  What might be the root cause for this?

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  This patch is for this issue:
  steps:
  1. pair bluetooth keyboard
  2. see the dialog asking user input the code for pairing.
  3. press "esc" to cancel it.
  4. blutoothd segfault shows in dmesg after a while.
  5. Bluetooth shows off on setting UI of right top corner. dmesg shows: [
978.138593] bluetoothd[1569]: segfault at 0 ip 55564abe0a06 sp
7ffe4bec6410 error 4 in bluetoothd[55564ab77000+f3000]

  [Test Case]

   1. pair bluetooth keyboard
   2. see the dialog asking user input the code for pairing.
   3. press "esc" to cancel it.
   4. the bluetooth should still work to pair another bluetooth device.

  [Regression Potential]

   * This patch workaround the case that a queue node was created but
  not yet assigned function before user input pairing keycode. If the
  user cancel the paring before inputting pairing keycode then assign
  the function pointer a dummy 'direct_match'.

  * Bluetoothd responses to Bluetooth functions and "queue" is a shared
  common data structure, so in case of regression happens then blutoothd
  systemd service would be crashed.

   * We can verify this by operating add/remove BT devices to trigger
  queue operations.

   * I verified on target machine BIOS ID:0983 on BT mouse, keyboard,
  headset on pairing, remove and functionality checking.

  [Other Info]

   * NO.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903048] Re: [SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

2020-11-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
There is no intend here to block any fix for stable serie but in case
that was not clear enough or if the SRU team didn't feel comfortable
with hirsute lacking behind and I uploaded back the patches but I'm
tagging the bug as 'block-proposed' instead which should be enough
incensitive to sort out

  * sudo add-apt-repository ppa:waveform/pi-bluetooth
  * sudo apt update
  * sudo apt install bluez
  * sudo reboot

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1904195] Re: apt cancels holds on uninstalled packages

2020-11-13 Thread Harald van Dijk
Whether it's a bug in apt or in something used by apt doesn't really
make a difference from an end user perspective. Can this bug be reopened
as a dpkg bug, then, or should I report that as a new bug?

Title:
  apt cancels holds on uninstalled packages

Status in apt package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Status in apt package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1904192] [NEW] ebtables can not rename just created chain

2020-11-13 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I have an issue with ebtables that affects libvirt.

Note: I checked which tool is in use and in both cases it is xtables-nft-multi.
/usr/sbin/ebtables -> /etc/alternatives/ebtables*
/etc/alternatives/ebtables -> /usr/sbin/ebtables-nft*
/usr/sbin/ebtables-nft -> xtables-nft-multi*
So I converted the libvirt issued commands into xtables-nft-multi just to be
sure in case a system to compare has other alternatives set.

Focal (Good):
/usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -N testrule3
/usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -E testrule3
testrule3-renamed

Groovy/Hirsute (Fail):
/usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -N testrule3
/usr/sbin/xtables-nft-multi ebtables --concurrent -t nat -E testrule3
testrule3-renamed
ebtables v1.8.5 (nf_tables): Chain 'testrule3' doesn't exists
Try `ebtables -h' or 'ebtables --help' for more information.

What might be the root cause for this?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903048] Re: Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

2020-11-13 Thread Tony Molloy
Just to close the loop, I've just made fresh SD and USB boot disks from
the latest current Mate 20.10 image and both don't have working
Bluetooth, Ive updated both with the ppa and now both do work and I can
use mouse and headphones with no problems. I have no idea why my
original USB boot of Mate 20.10 didnt work after patching, there must be
another problem with it as well, my apologies for any confusion caused
by that.

Martin and Alan have been nagging us 'ordinary' people to get involved
and contribute where we can to help you out if possible, that's all I
was trying to do. Thanks for the patch, hope you get it upstreamed, etc OK.

Best wishes

Tony

  [SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:

Status in bluez source package in Hirsute:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  Without these patches, Bluetooth is inoperable on the recently
  released Raspberry Pi 400.

  [Test Case]

  * Boot the Ubuntu Desktop for Pi image on a Pi 400.
  * Start the Settings application and switch to the Bluetooth tab
  * Verify that Bluetooth is not enabled and attempting to activate it fails
  * sudo add-apt-repository ppa:waveform/pi-bluetooth
  * sudo apt update
  * sudo apt install bluez
  * sudo reboot

Status in wpa package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  * Impact
  One of the distro patch is incorrect and create issues when trying to query
dbus properties

  * Test Case

  $ sudo dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1
  /fi/w1/wpa_supplicant1/Interfaces/1
  org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties.GetAll
  string:fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1.Interface

  shouldn't error out

  (the /1 reflect the interface number and could be a different value,
  check with d-feet if needed)

  * Regression potential

  The fixes is in the dbus interface, check that communication with
  desktop clients (indicator, applet, settings) still works correctly,
  returning expected informations on the signal, etc

  -

  dbus-send is able to read the properties of interface using GetAll. Those
information include interface name, status, encryption method, etc.
  The regression was introduced when someone try to have the Station attribute
supported

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903048] Re: [SRU] Bluetooth won't activate on the pi 400

2020-11-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Matthieu, @Dave, thanks for the comments and details.

I'm not blocking work to land, the 20.10 SRU could be accepted now and I didn't
revert in that serie.
The SRU team tries to ensure the fix is in the new serie so it doesn't get
forgotten/regress when next version is out but I think it's pretty clear we are
going to sort out the review details, that's not a blocker and SRU team has
been happy in the past to let things in with the understand than $newserie is
being sorted out

> great, but there'd presumably still be some delay before another version
> makes its way down to us, so we'd be applying *some* patch to make it work in
> the interim.

Again I'm not asking for the patches to be reviewed or accepted upstream
before they are uploaded to Ubuntu, I'm just asking for them to be sent
upstream and the reference to the email/report/merge request to be added
to the patches. It would probably have been less work to just do it
rather than type a long explanation here on why we need to distro patch
in any case (which I never disagreed with)

Sorry again but we have been bitten too often in similar situation where
people never upstreamed the work when they said they would because they
got busy with other things, and we are the ones paying the maintainance
cost later on.

  root@server:~# echo 'root:hearth=mirth-Double' | chpasswd
  […]
  Weak password: is the same as the old one.
  Try again.

  root@server:~# echo $?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1903966] Re: Loading keymaps via udev is not reliable, please use upstream rule

2020-11-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, the package is coming directly from
Debian, could you report the issue to them on

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?repeatmerged=no=v4l-

Title:
  Loading keymaps via udev is not reliable, please use upstream rule

Status in v4l-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Dear Maintainer,

  the udev rule installed from debian/ir-keytable.udev is not guaranteed to be
run at the
  appropriate moment during bootup which can cause the remote not to be
  configured according to the settings in /etc/rc_maps.cfg. This seems to occur
more often with newer kernel versions.

  Please use the upstream version
  (https://git.linuxtv.org/v4l-utils.git/tree/utils/keytable/70-infrared.rules)
instead.
  This commit message explains the need for this change:

  Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
  Release:20.04

  ir-keytable version: 1.18.0-2build1 and later
