[Touch-packages] [Bug 1988484] [NEW] Holding down volume keys sometimes crashes xorg
Public bug reported: Running KDE 5.24.4 on Ubuntu Jammy. On a few occasions, I've been able to trigger a complete desktop crash by pressing and holding the volume keys on my laptop. Steps to reproduce: 1) Have something play audio - typically youtube in a browser 2) Hold down Fn+F3 or Fn+F2 to increase/decrease volume. Crash. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1938195] [NEW] Configuration for eGPU removed on update
Public bug reported: ThinkPad X1C9 running Kubuntu. I'm using an external nVidia GPU in an enclosure, attached via thunderbolt. I have applied updates over the last few weeks, and rebooted today. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1917676] Re: dropped into initramfs after update on March 1
Screenshot is from my system. It's my secondary system, so I can keep it to debug. But I don't know what to do to get past this initramfs prompt. I have since wiped the system as it is my main work machine. The data itself was not corrupted (could still mount the partitions/volumes). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1869981] Re: Printer notification every day at midnight
I am getting it on 3 machines. One is a clean install of 20.04 from the media dated 20200301. Another is an upgrade done some weeks back which was previously 18.04 installed from media dated 20190210. I can't tell you when I started getting it, but it's been a while. The clean install has been getting it and I just thought it was because I was getting software updates that restarted cups or something. Then I noticed a couple of days ago it happens to all the machines at midnight. Then I waited a couple of days before reporting the bug, to confirm that's the case. The screenshot is a collection of 3 notifications over 3 nights. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1859319] [NEW] widget factory slighty too wide for common 1366x768 display
Public bug reported: I'm using a ThinkPad X220 to test the Ubuntu default theme. It has a wildly common 1366x768 display panel. At the time of writing, around 25% of installs have such a resolution - https://ubuntu.com/desktop/statistics The default non-hiding 48px launcher, and width of the widget factory, means that it's impossible to get the entire application on screen at once. There appears to be some space which could be saved by shrinking horizontally a couple of components on each page. Steps to reproduce * Install Ubuntu 20.04. * Set system resolution to 1366x768 * Install gtk3-examples * Alt-f2, gtk3-widget-factory Expected outcome * Entire widget factory should fit on the screen Actual outcome * The widget factory window is off the right hand side of the screen Workaround Set the launcher to auto hide, to make room. I don't consider this suitable, because part of the point of gtk widget factory is to test the theme, the experience, the out of the box install. Being unable to actually get the window on the screen seems a flawed set of tests. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1831903] [NEW] Microphone audio pitch changes sometimes
Public bug reported: For a little while now on my KDE Neon (based on Ubuntu 18.04) system, while I'm talking to someone my voice will suddenly drop in pitch. People have likened it to "Barry White" mode because my voice sounds like his. This can happen in Mumble, on a hangout, using riot or pretty much any audio recording app. Killing pulseaudio to restart it, works around the issue. However it sometimes comes back minutes later. It's quite common having this - but I use my microphone more than most users as I record podcasts, do live YouTube videos and have constant audio/video meetings with people. I have only seen this happen on 18.04 based systems, both this KDE Neon and my main Ubuntu 18.04 rig. Since updating that rig to 19.10 I've not seen the issue. The only solution seems to be closing the app every time I want to open other pdf. On some occasions, the app will crash by itself when getting out of an pdf. [EDIT]: Former DocViewer contributor Stefano Verzegnassi took a look at this bug so I'll just paste his response here: I've found a few minutes for having a look at this issue, and I guess this has nothing to do with Document Viewer. The component which causes the issue hasn't received any update since an year. The issue in the DocViewer seems to be the same described in bug #1568016, which sounds to me as a regression in the UI Toolkit. During the last months a lot of regressions have been introduced with any UITK update, because critical changes are directly committed to a stable target. As long as core apps should always target the latest version of the toolkit, it should also be granted that a new toolkit update does not break any core app functionality. Anyway, since the UITK team is actually rewriting many components, I suspect the faulty component of the PDF viewer should be entirely rewritten too, since there's a small chance the issue gets fixed upstream (and that's what they did with the issue at the link below). I'm no more an active contributor of the Ubuntu Document Viewer, and whoever will join the team should also take care of fixing this. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-ui- toolkit/+bug/1568016 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1577277/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1611349] Re: Only 2GB video file is recorded
Confirmed. Tested on a bq e4.5 running OTA12. Left camera running. Currently at 45m45s and the output file is:- -rw-r--r-- 1 phablet phablet 2145943552 Sep 1 12:25 video20160901_114114524.mp4 -rw-r--r-- 1 phablet phablet 2.0G Sep 1 12:25 video20160901_114114524.mp4 However, in my case I am writing to an sd card, so thought it might be a 2GB limit on the partition. Testing this, I ran:- $ dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/phablet/4332-3D21/testfile bs=1M count=3000 -rw-r--r-- 1 phablet phablet 3.0G Sep 1 12:42 testfile Which proves that the filesystem can cope with a >2GB file. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1588254] [NEW] Unlocking is harder than it should be - password doesn't have focus
Public bug reported: I'm finding it quite frustrating to unlock my M10 when I come back to it after a few minutes away. To reproduce:- * Attach a bluetooth keyboard to a bq M10 running rc-proposed (I'm using a logitech k480) * Allow the M10 (and keyboard) to go to sleep - so wait 10 mins or so Now, either:- * Press a key on the keyboard - e.g. shift * Display wakes up, but focus is not on the password field. Or * Tap power button on M10 to wake it (but not the keyboard) * Display wakes up, but focus is not on password field * Tap on password field to give it focus * OSK appears * Start typing on the keyboard (not OSK) your password (because it's easier) * Keyboard wakes up * OSK disappears * Focus is again lost from password field All in all, quite frustrating to unlock a device which powers down after a short period (battery save!). Expected behaviour:- * On keyboard wake, password field should be focussed * Focus should not be lost when switching OSK/physical keyboard Possible adverse side effect to above expectation:- Probably having focus on that field may mean accidental unlock attempts in pocket/bag. ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Josh Arenson (josharenson) Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588254 Title: Unlocking is harder than it should be - password doesn't have focus Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm finding it quite frustrating to unlock my M10 when I come back to it after a few minutes away. But it's basically unusable now. There were some CPU overheating/throttling events leading up to this, but not a lot. ** Changed in: unity-scopes-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity-scopes-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521269 Title: Certain built in remote scopes cannot be hidden Status in unity-scopes-shell package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The system image ships with certain scopes that cannot be hidden, for example Amazon. While it is possible to not ever launch this scope or favourite it, thus making it visible only in the scope switcher - a user should be able to remove or at least hide it completely from the UI (=the scope switcher). Possible suggestion for a fix: enable the "swipe to reveal extra actions" in the scope switcher and show a "hide" button there. In settings, expose a "hidden built-in scopes" where user can re-enable these system shipped remote scopes. Other possible suggestion (even better) - package the remote scopes so user can remove them normally. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1466526] Re: devel-proposed r227 for Flo is stuck in landscape mode
This is known and currently intentional until we come back to work on the tablet form factor and side stage interactions. Until then you can probably undo this change on your own device by modifying /etc/ubuntu- touch-session.d/flo.conf and rebooting, but if it breaks you get to keep the pieces. We don't support that change. ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1466526 Title: devel-proposed r227 for Flo is stuck in landscape mode Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Upon reboot after updating to r227, the screen was stuck in landscape mode. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1264795] Re: Alt+Tab Switcher randomly activates itself

I cannot find a report on this bug when googling it. So I thought I would file the bug. Literally, the switcher randomly just activates itself, and then the icons show in the middle of the screen as per usual. The stranger behavior is what happens next: 1) The switcher might automatically switch to a seemingly random app from the selection. 2) The switcher will just be displayed, but I cannot actually make it go away by clicking on one of the app icons. Instead, it just displays for however long it 'feels like,' typically ~5 seconds. So.. That's it. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1121941] Re: Spread (Super+W) causes maximised windows to resize/repaint and not just scale
Sorry, you're incorrect, it does still happen with the latest 15.10 release. I have added a simpler test case to show this. ** Description changed: Open two windows of an application on Raring Press Super+W to enable spread. Observe that the windows shrink vertically and repaint when entering spread and re-expand when leaving spread. I expect the windows should scale and not repaint or resize when entering or leaving spread. - Test case. + Test case #1. Start a virtualbox VM (with guest additions enabled so desktop resizing is automatic) Maximise the virtualbox window. Open a terminal in virtualbox and run the following command:- watch xrandr This will show the current resolution (which on my 1080p desktop is 1855x1034) - attached max.png Enter spread on the host with Super+W Observe the guest repainting the desktop Wait a second or two for xrandr to display the new resolution (which on my machine goes to 1855x1006 - a reduction of 28px) - attached spread.png Exit spread and observe the screen size goes back to what it was before. + Test case #2 + Open a terminal + Enter the following command in the terminal + watch -d -n 0.5 "tput cols && tput lines" + Maximise the window + Press Super+W + Observe the number of lines is reduced by one when switching to spread, and increases back up again when leaving spread. + + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: compiz 1:0.9.9~daily13.02.08-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-5.10-generic 3.8.0-rc6 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-5-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.8-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, grid, imgpng, gnomecompat, scale, workarounds, mousepoll, regex, wall, move, place, vpswitch, resize, unitymtgrabhandles, snap, session, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz Date: Mon Feb 11 11:05:19 2013 DistUpgraded: 2013-01-18 10:34:11,775 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: raring DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: - vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.2.0-36-generic, x86_64: installed - vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.5.0-22-generic, x86_64: installed - vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.8.0-3-generic, x86_64: installed - vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.8.0-4-generic, x86_64: installed - vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.8.0-5-generic, x86_64: installed + vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.2.0-36-generic, x86_64: installed + vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.5.0-22-generic, x86_64: installed + vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.8.0-3-generic, x86_64: installed + vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.8.0-4-generic, x86_64: installed + vboxhost, 4.2.4, 3.8.0-5-generic, x86_64: installed EcryptfsInUse: Yes GraphicsCard: - Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0126] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:21da] + Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0126] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:21da] InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-06-29 (226 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120425) MachineType: LENOVO 4287CTO MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-5-generic root=UUID=c8438547-b9fb-46af-8012-4663c77c70e7 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: compiz UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to raring on 2013-01-18 (23 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 12/05/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 8DET67WW (1.37 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 4287CTO dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr8DET67WW(1.37):bd12/05/2012:svnLENOVO:pn4287CTO:pvrThinkPadX220:rvnLENOVO:rn4287CTO:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 4287CTO dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X220 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.9~daily13.02.08-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs 20090808ubuntu36 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.42-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.0.2-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.0.2-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.13.2-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.1.0-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.21.0-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.6-0ubuntu2 xserver.bootTime: Mon Feb 11 09:38:59 2013 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: - + xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.version: 2:1.13.2-0ubuntu2 xserver.video_driver: intel
