The cellular operator name is currently well hidden, the necessary steps are
   - swipe down the indicator bar
   - select Network
   - [scroll down if there are many WiFi networks]
   - select Cellular settings ...
   - find the Carrier field at the bottom

Tested with mako HW and image 79.

  This is problematic
  1. for operator partners, as this simple string is their most important
branding element in the daily use of a phone.
  2. for phone users, as they want to know in which network they are registered
(especially when roaming).

  Comparing to reference devices:
   - Most traditional phones always show this information in the home screen.
   - Android shows this information when swiping down the indicator bar.

Any design change obviously would need to take Dual SIM requirements
  into account.

I re-tested this case

and the oFono D-Bus signals being sent
  {VoiceCall} [/ril_0/voicecall01] RemoteHeld = True
  {VoiceCall} [/ril_0/voicecall01] RemoteHeld = False

This is supported up to the oFono API, but not above that. Adding

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1347370] [NEW] No DTMF generated on long press

2014-07-22 Thread Martti Piirainen
Public bug reported:

Test case:
 - Dial a voice call
 - Open the key pad
 - Short (less than ca. half a second) tap on key 5
== /home/phablet/.cache/upstart/dbus.log prints 'start tone 5'
== DTMF tone is sent to the called party
 - Long (more than ca. half a second) tap on key 5
== no 'start tone' log print, no DTMF tone sent

The duration of the user's key press does not really make a difference
(the tone sent to the network always has a constant length), but a long
press should work just like a short one.

Found while working on bug 1187453. Tested in mako HW, image 145.
