[Touch-packages] [Bug 2009726] [NEW] Network Manager sets USB Ethernet to unmanaged in fresh Lunar

2023-03-08 Thread Michał J . Gajda
Public bug reported:

After installing a recent build of Lunar, the wired connection stopped
working.

It appears that default configuration in
`/usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf` sets all
wired ethernet to _strictly unmanaged_, whereas USB ethernet should be strictly
managed:
```
[keyfile]
unmanaged-devices=*,except:type:wifi,except:type:gsm,except:type:cdma
```

Since unmanaged devices are never brought up, it seems that all
`ethernet` devices should be managed anyway.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2003105] Re: rsyslog fills the root filesystem by spamming messages

2023-01-17 Thread Michał J . Gajda
Note that this applies `rsyslog-8.2112.0-2ubuntu2.2`, but I needed to remove it
from my machine before system allowed me to do anything.
Otherwise rsyslog spams SSD, and I am unable to do anything, and some programs
crash due to lack of disk space.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1751006] Re: Journalctl compiled without pattern matching support, pcre2 is not in main

2018-08-06 Thread Michał J . Gajda
Maybe we can have `journalctl-grep` package for administrators that use
this grep functionality for checking what happened? Nowadays debugging
is recognized as foremost computing activity, even chips have special
JTAG pins to allow online debugging.

I could expect most of the system administrators with big logs would
appreciate faster searching of log files thanks to `journalctl -g` in
the leading cloud operating system.

The problem still exists on Xenial Xerus Beta 2.
Running "setupcon" from the console fixes the issue _temporarily_.
