Title:
  (oneiric) app window chooser displays windows incorrectly

Status in Unity:
  Invalid
Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When you have an app running which has multiple windows, clicking on
  that app in the launcher is supposed to display small snapshots of
  those app windows for your selection.

  In an up to date (as of 20 Sept) Oneiric beta, doing that results in

  (a) the snapshot images being displayed upside down
  (b) when you are using multiple monitors, the snapshot images are displayed
in between the two monitors (i.e., in the center of the combined space, rather
than in the center of one monitor).

  Expected behaviour?
  - that the images are displayed the right way up
  - that the images are displayed in some usable place, e.g,. the center of one
or the other of the monitors (probably should be the one with the launcher,
since that's where you just invoked the command. But there may be an argument
for it being on the one that is going to display the windows when selected -
although that is a problem if the windows are on separate screens).

  1. In Nautilus, choose "File" > "Connect to Server", and connect to a server
that you have write access to.
  2. Create two files or folders on the server.
  3. Drag the first item to the Trash or Rubbish Bin in Nautilus's sidebar.
  4. Drag the second item to the Trash or Rubbish Bin in the Unity launcher.

  What happens:
  3. A dialog appears with text of the form "Cannot move file to the Rubbish
Bin, do you want to delete it immediately?"
  4. Nothing. The item is not deleted and there is no error feedback.

  What should happen:
  4. Exactly the same as if you had dragged the item to Nautilus's own Trash or
Rubbish Bin.

  1. Run the file in the pastebin with python
  3. The Unity Panel displays a newline after "Unity"

  When the frame is minimized, instead of the line, it displays "...".

  Attached is a screenshot.

  Personally, I'm not sure of what should happen, but I decided to

  EDIT
  On the Launcher, if I hover the icon of this program I also get a newline,
but this is good.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1166124] Re: Ubuntu minimum system requirements needs to be updated

2015-09-29 Thread NickTh
This bug has been fixed in ubuntu-docs

Changed in ubuntu-docs:
status: Fix Committed → Fix Released

There is no need to preserve it as confirmed in Unity project.

As part of the bug clean up ahead of 16.04 LTS I'm marking this as invalid.
If you think this is still valid for Unity Project, please comment on why that
is the case and change the status to NEW.

Regards
NickTh

Bug description:
  The specified minimum system requirements do not represent reality.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements Ubuntu
desktop needs :

  * 700 MHz processor (about Intel Celeron or better)

  * 5 GB of hard-drive space (or USB stick, memory card or external drive but
see LiveCD for an alternative approach)
  * VGA capable of 1024x768 screen resolution

  With the latest technologies introduced by Unity, not only the above
  is illogical but also, diminishes any chance of a good desktop

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1498775] Re: Greeter auth doesn't unlock unity lockscreen

2015-09-28 Thread NickTh
Tried this again I can reproduce it *only if* I switch to another
user(name).

If the system has two (or more) users and I click another username from
the indicator but instead I select my current logged-in user and write
the password the lock screen blinks and asks for the password a second
time. The second time accepts the password and unlocks the session.

If I click the 'Lock/Switch Account' in the indicator, greeter works as
it should without problems.

This has been tested with package,
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/1.16.2-0ubuntu1

Any other test-case is welcome.

Regards
NickTh

Bug description:
  This is happening for any gtk-3.12 theme which has proper support for
  gtk-headerbar.

  How to reproduce on Utopic:

  1. sudo apt-get install Numix
  2. sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool
  3. change Gtk theme to Numix
  4. Open any app with Gtk-Headerbar (& NOT directly patched by Ubuntu) like
gnome-tweak-tool, gnome-system-log
  2. enable show-desktop on unity launcher
  3. Click on show-desktop first time. it will show desktop.
  4. Click on it again, it crashes compiz & sometimes does not recover from it.
Users have to fallback to TTY & force restart lightdm.

  The problem also occurs for any headerbar app from Gnom3 ppa (for
  example gnome-contacts, baobab, gnome-maps).

  Attached crash file from /var/crash/compiz.

  Note: Compiz on other desktop shell/session works relatively well. For
  example in Gnome-Flashback-Compiz session it doesn't happen.

  Upon login to my Unity session, no sidebar or top menu bar is present;
  it does load desktop icons and the desktop image. Unity commands
  (CTRL-ALT-T for terminal app) don't work, but system commands do.
  Applications can only be launched by system command, and when they do
  they have no window dressing. I launched unity from a terminal, and
  got some of my desktop back (no indicators, system widgets).

  Steps taken for remedy/debug:

  - I have tried reinstalling a number of packages: compiz, ccsm, unity,
unity-tweak-tool.
  - I tried to use `xprop WM_CLASS` to see what was being displayed in the top
bar once unity was initialized; clicking the blank area where indicators would
have been returned `WM_CLASS: not found`
  - ran most system testing suites. After reboot test, and resuming checkbox,
terminal displayed the following:

  "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" "Did not receive a reply. Possible

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 14.10
  Compiz 0.9.12
  Unity 7.3.1
  uname 3.16.0-29-generic

  Upon login to my Unity session, no sidebar or top menu bar is present;
  it does load desktop icons and the desktop image.

After reboot test, and resuming checkbox,
terminal displayed the following:

  app_id  :  "com.canonical.checkbox-gui"
  "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" "Did not receive a reply. Possible
causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus
security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network
connection was broken."

Sorry folks, but as part of the bug clean up ahead of 16.04 LTS I'm
marking this as invalid because it affects an Ubuntu release which is
now unsupported. If you can still recreate this bug in a supported
release please do open a new bug and we can triage it for consideration
in the 16.04 LTS development cycle.

  This issue is not purely graphical because the icon is in such a place

Maybe a bad configuration ?

Try to restore original settings.

$ gconftool --shutdown
$ sudo killall -r -I gconf
$ sudo killall -r -I dconf
$ tar czf confbackup.tar.gz .compiz* .gconf* .config/dconf/ .config/compiz*

then

$ rm -rf .compiz* .gconf* .config/dconf/ .config/compiz*

and reboot.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1292396] Re: After upgrade Unity session is broken

2015-09-22 Thread NickTh
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. We have tried to
recreate this on the latest release of Ubuntu and cannot reproduce it.
This bug is being marked as Invalid. If you believe the problem to
still exist in the latest version of Ubuntu please comment on why that
is the case and change the bug status to NEW.

Maybe a bad configuration ?

Try to restore original settings.

$ gconftool --shutdown
$ sudo killall -r -I gconf
$ sudo killall -r -I dconf
$ tar czf confbackup.tar.gz .compiz* .gconf* .config/dconf/ .config/compiz*

then

$ rm -rf .compiz* .gconf* .config/dconf/ .config/compiz*

and reboot.

  Yesterday's upgrade was related to Unity packadges, so after reboot I
  logged into Gnome Flashback session - works as expected. Reboot - and
  there is no Unity session in Unity Greeter. I logged again into
  Flashback and launch Synaptic. I saw, that Unity package wasn't even
  installed, so I installed it - Unity session shows up in Greeter, but
  thaths all, still no Panel, no Launcher, etc. In CCSM Unity plugin was
  uncheck. I was able to launch window decorations, but launching Unity
  plugin caused CCSC crash. In another try there was info, that launch
  of Unity plugin is in conflict with Window Decorations plugin, but
  somehow launching Unity plugin does nothing, but Compiz crash

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1492437] Re: Unity Crash when trying to "unlock from launcher" a disk drive icon

2015-09-09 Thread NickTh
I did a fresh install because this was a bit old and upgrading since
Utopic could cause various problems.

The problem still exists. Also, apport has created a crash report, when
unity crashed. I did

$ ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_usr_bin_compiz.1000.crash

but I'm not sure if the report uploaded correctly (both .upload and
.uploaded files are empty).

If you want the crash report here I can attach it, just let me know.

  After the latest updates (proposed repositories enabled), I noticed

  Fortunately, it restores itself quite quickly.

  Another behaviour, if it's not crash, is to do nothing. It does not

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1492437] [NEW] Unity Crash when trying to "unlock from launcher" a disk drive icon

2015-09-04 Thread NickTh
Public bug reported:

After the latest updates (proposed repositories enabled), I noticed that
when I try to "unlock from launcher" a partition (internal), this with
the disk drive icon, unity crashes.

Fortunately, it restores itself quite quickly.

Another behaviour, if it's not crash, is to do nothing. It does not
unlock/remove the the launcher icon at all.

I was able to screen-recording the problem

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1445358] Re: Pulseaudio fails to run when system's language is in Greek

2015-04-20 Thread NickTh
Further testing I've made showed different results.
I've downloaded the source code of pulseaudio in Vivid

$ apt-get source pulseaudio

then I compiled the pulseaudio-6.0/po/el.po , WITHOUT change anything
and I replaced the pulseaudio.mo with the new compiled pulseaudio.mo.

Guess what, audio works.

So, maybe something is going on with the Machine Object file and has
nothing to do with translation ?

Renaming the file
/usr/share/locale-langpack/el/LC_MESSAGES/pulseaudio.mo
seems to workaround the problem.

2015-04-19 Thread NickTh
This .po file seems to work without problems.

Compile the file to pulseaudio.mo and move it to /usr/share/locale-
langpack/el/LC_MESSAGES/

$ msgfmt -o pulseaudio.mo -v ~/Downloads/el.po
$ sudo mv /usr/share/locale-langpack/el/LC_MESSAGES/pulseaudio.mo
~/pulseaudio.mo.bad
$ sudo mv ~/pulseaudio.mo /usr/share/locale-langpack/el/LC_MESSAGES/
$ sudo reboot

  [SVF1532X1EB, Realtek ALC233, Speaker, Internal] Pulseaudio fails to
  detect card

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Changing the System Language in Greek resulted in the corruption of
  the sound in the entire system. This happened when the latest updates
  applied and after a reboot.

  I have attempted a new installation in Greek getting the latest ISO
  image and the problem exists there as well.

  If I go back (turn the system) to the English Language and reboot the
  problem disappears.

  I have also tested another Language (Russian Localization) but the
  problem does not occur.

  How to reproduce:
  Apply the latest updates and install the Greek language packages
(language-pack-el , language-pack-el-base).
  Choose Greek as the system's language and reboot.
